From these locations Al Fanar’s experts drive innovation by providing bespoke design, consultation, and feasibility studies for all types of gas projects imaginable. Meanwhile, the company’s trading arm delivers some of the most advanced equipment from reputable manufacturers around the globe.
A pioneering attitude At its heart Al Fanar is a pioneer, and having brought the latest gas energy technology to the UAE, the company is no stranger to being first. “We were the first company to design, procure and install a natural gas network in a residential development in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi,” outlined Mr El Gebely. “The installation took place in Al Raha Gardens Phase 1,2,3,4 and 5 and now services over 1,370 villas. “We were also first to implement a smart metering system to stream-line the process 4 72

of gas monitoring and payment in the Etihad Towers Complex.” Adding to this, Al Fanar was also the first company to install an SNG system in Abu Dhabi, which was designed and built for the gas infrastructure of Al Reem Island. This bespoke system was designed to adhere to ADNOC and GASCO specifications; an accomplishment positioning Al Fanar as both a market leader and industry front-runner. The company also introduced Automatic Meter Reading (AMR) to the UAE market. This technology is designed to streamline operational efficiency and labour by using automation to check meter levels. And in a similar vein, the company is also changing the conventional approach the gas industry has towards digitalisation. Mr El Gebely said: “To enhance our customer service transaction, which is created through our digital platform by an application that is connected to Al Fanar’s ERP System, the focus of our digitalisation is to improve the productivity and real time information updates in addition to our first initial step on going paperless. “Al Fanar Gas Group has fully implemented digitalisation; we believe that applying the latest technology is a real weapon in any business growth.”
Comprehensive service Al Fanar Gas Group has four main operational segments; engineering, construction, LPG distribution and maintenance. On the engineering front, the company provides design, supply, consulting, installation and testing of gas systems. The company’s engineering department has taken major steps in gas system design, involving both external and internal gas system installations. Speaking about the construction segment, Mr El Gebely added: “We ensure that all construction phases are coordinated with value engineering and procurement scope, this is to ensure that the whole project is completed per the required time frame.” LPG distribution in bulk is another of the company’s main segments, and has approved ADNOC’s resale and distribution partner status. Al Fanar LPG is transported to its valued clients across the UAE in a timely manner. This final segment that Al Fanar is involved in is maintenance and 24/7 emergency call outs. “Al Fanar is fully equipped to handle any type of gas emergency with our highly skilled team and equipped emergency response vehicle that are ready to accommodate any type of gas emergency,” Mr El Gebely stated.
A testament to quality In addition to ADNOC certification, Al Fanar is also an integral part of the National InCountry Value (ICV) Program. The ICV is a government initiative that aims to boost economic growth by redirecting larger portions of public spending into the national economy. The program seeks to achieve the optimum value for the UAE oil and gas resources. In the process, Al Fanar has also been recognised as ADNOC’s largest distributor of LPG in Abu Dhabi. Recently Al Fanar signed a four-year contract with Abu Dhabi Ports Group for operations, maintenance, and meter management of natural gas facilities in ICAD, Musaffah, and KIZAD. Speaking further about ongoing projects, Mr El Gebely added: “Al Fanar is operating in 90% of the UAE’s hospitality sector and has been awarded six ADNOC tender projects for the past six years. We are proud to operate with some of the most eminent companies in the UAE like
DAMAC, Line Investment, ICT, Tamakon, Scope Properties, Al Saqer and East & West International Group.” Other developments Al Fanar has been involved in include Yas Island – one of the most prominent leisure developments in Abu Dhabi. The company also had a hand in Al Qana Aquarium, which opened in 2021 as Abu Dhabi’s national aquarium, and was also a part of the 1 million sqm Jewel of the Creek development.
The strength of spirit In the future, Al Fanar plans to continue its innovation and to enhance current services for all its clients. In line with this, the company is actively expanding and is on track to achieve its goals in the UAE – as well as expanding further into the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC).
