Meet the installer – Q&A

Every month we talk to an NSI approved installer about life in the business. This month we take a look back at what installers told us recently when we asked: Do you have any “go to” products or manufacturers?

Charlie Salamone – Avanza

For CCTV we like Avigilon and we are really impressed with Ava, a fairly new company but their systems enable you to do a lot of security and non-security analytics. Also in CCTV we like to use the Milestone platform. For access control we are channel partners with Gallagher plus we also install Paxton technology because it delivers every time. Another company whose products we specify for access control is Salto.

Jamie Allam – IPMSL

Over the years we have built some significant relationships with key distributors alongside long term manufacturer relationships. We believe we work in loyal partnership on both accounts, giving and gaining business from each other. And we hope this will continue for the future success of the supply chain as a whole.

We work with partners who we know can provide our customers with innovative new security technology products, that embrace the latest innovations alongside the need for remote and mobile-first monitoring.

These include but not inclusive to Texecom for intruder and Salto, Paxton and BPT for access control. We embrace Avigilon and Dahua Technology for CCTV. We are also very proud to have recently become part of the Honeywell Gent Network, with exclusive access to supply its extensive range of fire detection systems. Each supplied to the highest possible standards to deliver most advanced fire detection and alarm systems.

James Twigg – TIS (Total Integrated Solutions)

As an independent systems integrator, we’re dedicated to curating the most suitable technologies from around the world to create the very best smart protection systems for our customers. Where other systems suppliers are perhaps tied to specific manufacturers or their own proprietary technologies and solutions, we can be agile, objective, and remain open to sourcing the most suitable technology for the job. We have a quite a few depending on the requirements! For truly bespoke solutions we partner with Tyco – Software House, we’re a C*Cure Advanced Integrator and have been for over 8 years. For traditional security products we work closely with Gallagher, Pelco and Avigilon. For cloud-based products we have some exciting partnerships with Rhombus, Cisco Meraki and Openpath. We have seen that the traditional security manufacturers are now developing cloud-based solutions so it will be great to see what they come up with and how we can strengthen our relationships with them.

We install a lot of Mirasys and Avigilon servers, and a lot of Avigilon and Axis cameras on CCTV. However the beauty of the Mirasys is you can pretty much pick and choose any ONVIF camera so a lot of our sites have a real mixture of manufacturer cameras based on their functionality, performance and client’s budget.

With regards to intruder alarms we install Texecom and Galaxy for our commercial clients and Orisec and Ajax for our domestic clients. Again the reasoning behind these choices is purely down to the connectivity and what we can do via the software available.

Access control all depends on the integration its normally Paxton, RBH or Brivo again its all dependant on the client’s requirements.

We are a Fireclass partner so use this where possible but again depending on client requirements, and the solution and what it is we are protecting we would be happy to install any open protocol solution.
