Welcome to our online store – TBI Pro Brew Supply!!! FLAKED WHEAT Flaked Wheat increases head retention in brew beers and is commonly found in many Belgian styles, such as Belgian Witbier, or Belgian whites. Flakes will yield a different flavor profile than Wheat Malt. Use up to 40% as a cereal adjunct in the total grist. Use 1-5% to a standard brew to increase foam stability. RICE HULLS Rice hulls are needed when brewing with sticky grains like oat, rye, or wheat - essentially, any huskless grain with a lot of gluten. Not adding rice hulls to a grain bill with a high percentage of these types of grains will result in your mash becoming a big clump o' sticky mess, and that means wasted time and money. Note: We define "high percentage" as anything over 30%. Rice hulls are flavorless, colorless, and add no fermentable sugar. Rice Hulls are the hard outer layers of grains of rice. During normal harvesting of rice, the shard-like hulls are a byproduct that later finds other uses. After extensive boiling and drying to remove flavors and color, rice hulls are often used in the fruit juice industry as an aid to filtration and pressing operations. In brewing, many craft brewers blend them into mash to ensure good wort flow through the mash (or lauter) bed.
