All the components subject to wear are contained in a cartridge unit that can be easily removed for inspection and/or replacement without disconnecting the pump from the circuit, drastically reducing expensive machine down time. The structure of the pump minimizes the internal leakage, maximizing the volumetric efficiency under all conditions. ELI2 is the first series in the ELIKA® range and includes pumps with displacement from 7 to 35 cm3/rev. Maximum operating pressures up
to 300 bar. The helical gear ensures the continuity of motion despite the low number of teeth. The low number of teeth and shape of the profile significantly reduces pressure-oscillations and vibrations during operation transmitted to the other components, reducing the noise of the hydraulic system. Axial forces induced by the helical teeth are optimally balanced in all operating conditions by the axial compensation system integrated in the pump cover. Specific compensation areas into flange and cover, insulated by special gaskets reinforced with antiextrusion, allow for free axial and radial
movement of the bushings, which is proportional to pump operating pressure. In this way, internal leakage is dramatically reduced, ensuring very good volumetric and mechanical pump performances, as well as proper lubrication of moving parts. The ELIKA® gear pump reduces the noise level by an average of 15 dBA compared with a conventional external gear pump.

HYDRAULIC MOTORS These hydraulic motors have a high starting torque, ideal for instance, for safe operation of the heavy gates on the material lock in a nuclear power plant or to hand over the weighty coils in a rolling mill. Due to the low amount of revolving mass, the rotational direction can be quickly changed, a feature very important in many test benches; when performing vibration tests on motorcycle forks or when testing the adjustment of wing flaps on aircraft. The components can perform up to 50 rotational direction changes per second. The constructive design of these pneumatic motors as a gear wheeled motor guarantees a high start up torque. This technology is particularly suitable for starting up diesel engines and turbines. These pneumatic starters can be operated with air or gas as standard options. They are independent of electrical energy stores, maintenance free and explosion proof. Supplied as ready to use starter systems with all necessary accessories. Reliable performance guarantees the safe start up of diesel engines, even under extreme environmental conditions. This means that the systems can be used everywhere from the tropics to the arctic and from the desert to offshore areas. Addition of the HY-tact system to the standard starter ensures soft engagement of the pinion with the engine gear rim. This system ensures long life and reliability of the meshing gears. The start pinion is gently pushed out to meet the engine gear rim, if the pinion does not hit a tooth gap, it retracts and is rotated slightly ready for the next cycle. The cycle repeats until the pinion finds a gap and can move into full mesh, at this point, air is switched onto the starter to crank the engine.

Mechanically and hydraulically actuated over-centre clutches available in two mounting styles, speed increasing or decreasing gearboxes, oil bath clutches: » 'BD' series clutches for close couple to diesel engines with SAE style flywheel facility. ‘BD’ series clutches have been designed to mount onto any engine with flywheel and bellhousing conforming to SAE dimensions. These clutches consist of an over-centre clutch assembly mounted onto a tapered shaft carried on two bearings. The pilot bearing is housed in the engine flywheel and the outer bearing serves to support the output shaft and is capable of withstanding radial loads as detailed within this catalogue. For exceptionally high radial loads models BD290/150R, BD2200R and BD3300R are available with special heavy duty bearings. Power is transmitted by clutch plates located within a driving ring bolted to the engine flywheel. The clutch mechanism is equipped with a unique automatic clutch adjustment device capable of compensating for reasonable clutch plate wear.

'BDS' clutches for independent, in-line arrangements, capable of accepting high radial loads and transmitting powers of up to 850 kW as standard. Versions are also available to close couple hydraulic pumps to the clutch output shaft. Type BDS units provide a unique range of free-standing clutches intended for applications where engine mounting is not possible. BDS clutches consist of a BD type clutch but with a drive plate supported on the input shaft carried on two bearings in the independent bellhousing. The drive plate carries the driving ring and main shaft pilot bearing. BDP and BDSP clutch units are constructed as per the standard type BD and BDS clutches, but offer a selection of hydraulic pump adaptors in place of output shaft.

» 'RM' version gearboxes are specifically designed for close coupling to industrial diesel engines and are available in either speed increasing or speed reducing format. Gearboxes can be supplied with output shaft either same or opposite rotation to input shaft. Input to the gearbox can be made either by rigid/flexible coupling or via a 'BD' series clutch. The ‘RM’ version gearboxes consist of a 2-piece cast iron casing (*except RM20 units) with helical teeth, case hardened gears and shafts. Reverse rotation units have a primary gear on the input shaft driving directly onto the secondary gear powering the output shaft. Same rotation versions have an idler gear between primary and secondary gears. There are 3 basic types of RM gearbox; RM-GR models are for close coupling to diesel prime movers and have a choice of SAE housing and rigid or flexible couplings; RM-BD models are similar to RM-GR but are fitted within an over-centre clutch in place of coupling, RM-BDS models offer independent mount units with over-centre clutch.

There are no comparable products at the high flow end of the range. The flange design has considerable commercial potential in areas where the cost of downtime is very high, such as in offshore industry.

The flange can be supplied in any steels to suit the environment including 080M15 (standard), stainless or exotic alloys.
They are specifically aimed at the steel, oil, gas, chemical, pharmaceutical, and food industries where ease of maintenance features are economically particularly attractive, when downtime must be kept to a minimum.
As an alternative to tightening the flanges using traditional studs and nuts they can be supplied with a bolt tensioning system that utilizes a hand operated jacking system which enable pre-tensioning of two or more studs at one time, thus alleviating the need for large torque wrenches, spanners etc. which become a big problem when space is at a premium.
The ease of maintenance feature involves the ability to remove the seal, which is supported within a special retaining element, and replace it without fully disconnecting or moving the mating flange or runs of pipework as is typically the case with the standard DIN and CETOP flanges found in heavy pipework systems.
