Mr. Roger E. B. Randall
Because you have been such a vital part of Proctor throughout the three years that you have been here and have contributed so much to the school with your continuous patience, aid and warmth, we the class of nineteen sixty-six, wish to show our appreciation and true affection by dedicating our yearbook to you, Roger E. B. Randall.
HEADMASTER'S
MESSAGE
The 1965-1966 school year seemed to contain everything from tragedy to comedy, with both extremes farther out than is usual. Death struck hard at us from several directions, leaving its usual feeling of helplessness and futility. Mrs. Farrell's long and desperate illness hung over all of us with a sense of gloom and foreboding. Yet, in spite of these hardships, much was accomplished, and real improvement was seen in academic work, numbers of high marks, singing, dramatics, publications, and successful athletic teams. The Astronomy Club built an excellent observatory with their own hands, and the seniors gave them a fine telescope. These and many more things, made the year a successful one for the school. I know that some of the leaders felt that the school government had in it too many soft spots, that the morale could be improved, that a more intellectual atmosphere should be created, that we should have more lectures and social life, and they are right. However, we move each year in those directions. I hope that we will never be satisfied, and will always look for improvement. So long as we are dissatisfied with what we are accomplishing, and work to do more, we are safe. W h e n we become smug, and content with our achievements and methods, look out. Not least of the successes of the year was that of April morning when the last boy had his hair cut, and the school presented a complete, well trimmed, masculine appearance. I thank Mr. Curtis and his staff of students for their labors in assembling the material for this year book.
Lyle H. Farrell Headmaster
