T o every person at Proctor, Derek and Eva represent something different. T o many, Derek is an enthusiastic math and science teacher. Others k n o w him as the coach of wrestling, an advisor, the residence orienteerer, or as the leader of the tech crew for the drama department. Eva, to most, is the director of the theatrical productions, but she is also k n o w n through her drama classes, her (and Derek's) collection of animals, and her great assembly speeches on the drama department before every play. For s o m e people Derek and Eva are the first glimpse of Proctor faculty, on orientation, and still others know and love them as dorm parents. N o matter what contact you have with Derek and Eva, you have experienced their diverse personalities and their dedication to whatever they do — because of this, the Class of 1987 would like to dedicate their yearbook to ...

Thoughts for a Lifetime

The future will depend on what w e do in the present. . . . Mahatma Gandhi Our problems are m a n m a d e — therefore, they can be solved by man. And m a n can be as big as he wants. N o problem of h u m a n destiny is beyond h u m a n beings. . . . John F. Kennedy The greatest griefs are those w e cause ourselves. . . . Sophocles This above all, to thine o w n self be true, And it must follow, as night the day, Thou canst not then be false to any man. . . . William Shakespeare All the wonders you seek are within yourself. ... Anonymous Some m e n see things the way they are and say why, I dream things that never were and say w h y not. . . . George Bernard Shaw To do nothing is to be nothing. . . . Anonymous H u m a n history becomes more and more a race between education and catastrophe. . . , H.G. Wells If you are not part of the solution, you're part of the problem. . . . Eldridge Cleaver Life is a flicker of consciousness between two eternities of oblivion. . .. William Shakespeare I have never let m y schooling interfere with m y education. . . . Mark Twain Today is the highway; tomorrow is the time. ... Bob Dylan
