David Dempsey I can't believe that it's over, four years flew by so quickly. Proctor is a pretty awesome place and it will be pretty hard for m e to find a place where I will be happier. Appreciate it people; You don't know what you have until it's gone! I have grown so much here that I can't fathom all the ways. Thanks Alice, Cathy, and Charlene for all the times you helped me, I really appreciated it. Academically, I have grown immenselyfrom where I could not function without you to where I a m self sufficient. I can never, ever repay you for this gift. Looking back at all the things which have happened to m e through m y four years at Proctor, I don't know how to sum it up. Bubba, you did more for m e than I can convey in words, Thank You. Eva, You are amazing, H o w you produce plays year in and year out is incredible. Your effort in editing Peer Theater changed it from good to unbelieveable. Fall 1989 overseas (Spain) was a highlight of m y four years, thanks guys, let's do it again some time. I will always remember Barcelona (body abuse weekend) and Montcloa. Bubba- "I'm going to pump you up. . . Listen to m e now and believe m e later'' ' 'You are all just little girly alpiners." Peter- The sea gal is very symbolic Chelsea- Thank you for your message, it made two years mean alot more than they did. Paul- You are a true friend, thanks. "I shouldn't encourage adolescent boys to touch each other."- Kit Norris. "Gracla came down from the Library and was glaring at m e through the window, and Jesus, I thought I'd turn to stone.' - Todd Powell. "Do you trust me?- Paul Tong. "No, Paul, I don't trust you."- A m y Currier, Cassandra Cox, Rebecca Fox. Jen Goneau, etc. etc. . . "Because you're a perverted little (censored). Paul"- Sheffy. "Whose Bonnie?"- Allan Parker. "A.P. Computer Science is not a contact sport."- Steve Scrimshaw. W h e n asked, "Paul, why did you come to Proctor" I usually said "Because Proctor was the only school that sent m e a T-shirt." There is more. Amongst the multitude of routine boarding schools In the Northeast, Proctor prevails itself to be a rare and singular entity. Academic, extracurricular, and off-campus programs, and on-campus fun (thanks Lee C). all make up m y image of Proctor. A school where most every day of the week, the entire school gathers in the Holland Auditorium to listen to each other. To STOP and listen to somebody else for once, an attribute easily placing Proctor in its own category. Together. Thanks and blessings go out ot m y Father, Mother, and m y advisors throughout m y years at Proctor. Dan Loehr: thank you for your humor and support from Orientation on. Steve Scrimshaw: Relax, and set up a niche for yourself and Megan somewhere in the world. To m y roomie David, enjoy your future, you, like Proctor, are unique and surprising. -Thanks for all the advice. To Amy: relax, enjoy what you've got. Hi Liz G.. Jeremy, I warned you that I'd crown you king!! Jen G.- You'd better remember to invite m e to meet your future husband, the Doctor. Mistremember go for it. G O O D BYE PROCTOR "Persist, persist, persist. Remember, even If your work is getti down; and the pressure from classes becomes too much to resist, persist: Family and friends are on your nerves, causing a frown; don't get down, persist. And when your exams come around, don't desist and throw a fit. persist."- Paul Tong '91.

M T C L R M FALL 89; Sure we all went our separate ways, but if I could change anything, I wouldn't. CHRIS: You are omnipotent and omnicient and you will always be m y friend. Thank you. BIRCH: The only person who I will ever call "room". W e had our doubts, but it was a success. W e never fought and I think that shows a lot of restraint on m y part because you were so difficult to live with. Til Tuesday has quite an album and I'm glad you were there to discover it with me. KRIS: To much to say in such a small space and plus you already know most of it. W e all have things to work out in ourselves, some of us are just closer to doing it than others. I will never forget what has happened and I'll try not to let it influence what will. ANA: A friend is someone who will always be there for you, someone who you would do anything for because they reassure you that you're a worthwhile person. You are and always will be m y friend. BENNY: It was all a learning experience, and you walked m e through it cause God knows you'd been there before. Words cannot begin to describe m y gratitude to you and I think the songs can only touch the surface. . . Remember, " W e always reach for what we cannot touch, but it hurts us just as much if we never try"

Birch Shambaugh Thank you to Bucket.Mom,Dad,Ghee, and all of the people who have helped m e here at Proctor. "Out of the blue and into the black." Morton '87, Kip.Mike.Jeff.Brad, let's burn. It's really hard to talk about how much Proctor means to me, being here such a short time, but things are working out well from m y roomate, Bill, to all m y classes. I hope when I look back at this that the experiences I have at Proctor are as good as I expected them to be. To all the friends and teachers I've known over the years, I thank you for all the support you have given me. I thank m y poker buddies for the good times I'll remember for years to come. I thank Jen for always being there for m e when I needed a friend. I thank all of m y relatives for the values, good times, and most of all, the memories you have given me. To m y brother, w h o m I've had the most differences with, but will always love. To m y m o m and dad, I love you both, for everything you have done for me, and the opportunities that you've encouraged m e to do so much with. Good and bad times have come and gone and I will always remember you both with the greatest love a person can have for their mother and father. Derek

ÂŤPt This graduation day was made possible first of all by m y mother who raised m e with great respect and to her and m y family who has given m e great support through Proctor years as well as past years in other schools. I also want to give thanks to m y teachers and the adults who kept m e working hard and the teachers that pushed m e allowing m e not only to get into Proctor but also graduate from this fine institute. I hope I keep receiving support from m y family, friends, and teachers who were there through m y high school years.

Champagne wishes and caviar dreams. There Is no such thing as a bad day, some are just better than others. One trouble with trouble is that it starts out fun. Always forgive your enemies- nothing annoys more. A friend is one who comes in when everyone else leaves. You have to know the rules to know when you've broken them. Before you dance to the beat, c'irck and see who is playing the drum. Life moves pretty fast, if you don't stop and look around every once in awhile you could miss lt. Sometimes you just gotta say "what the * # @ , " If that's the worst thing that happens this year we are In great shape.# @ * it, who's gonna tell. Some people come quietly Into our lives and quickly go, some stay for awhile and leave footprints on our hearts, and we are never the same again. Sometimes I wish I was still a child, a skinned knee is easier to fix than a broken heart. What goes around comes around. Life's been good so far. It's miller time. Be all you can be, when they call your number pack up and get the hell out. Sleeping late helps dreams come true. You can't always get what you want, but if you try sometimes, you just might find, you get what you need. Death is a debt we all must pay. What is more painful- death, or the memories that you cherish. If you love something, set it free. If it doesn't come back, hunt lt down and kill it. Thank God I'm an atheist. Shoot m e with a silver bullet. There are good times, and there are bad times- ya gotta make the best out of things.

o placidly amid the noise &. the haste, and remember what peace there m a y be in silence. A s far as possible without surrender be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly &. clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull &. the ignorant; they too have their story. Avoid loud &. aggressive persons, they are vexatious to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you m a y become vain or bitter; for always there will be greater &. lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your o w n career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your . business affairs; for the world is full of trickery. But let not this blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity &. disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass. Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings. M a n y fears are born of fatigue &. loneliness. Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees & the stars; you have a right to be here. A n d whether or not it is clear to you, n o doubt the universe is unfolding as it should. Therefore be at peace with G o d , whatever you conceive H i m to be. A n d whatever your labors & aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life keep peace in your soul. W i t h all its sham, drudgery & broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world. B e cheerful. Strive to be happy. Š1927 by M a x Ehrmann. Al! rights reserved. Copyright: renewed 1954 by Bertha K. Ehrmann. Reprinted by permission Robert L Bell. Melrose, M A
