... Bob Livingston W h o has always put us first.

"If you do somethingfor kids and lay down rules they understand, you wont have any probl The more rules you have, the worse results you're going to get. We're dealing with kids at the very worst time in their lives. They aren't cute and cuddly any more and we're asking them to grow up. Kids will come to you with problems and complaints, but they never whine. They're lookingfor assistance. They keep you young. Kids are wonderful."

N o w it is M a y 31st, 1997. M y high graduation is scheduled at 11:00 o'clock. H ask myself: " A m I really getting out of this school? A m I really going to college?" I'm not sure yet. 1 see m y graduation cap and g o w n hanging on the board, and m y black samsonite bags which remind m e I a m no longer to stay here anymore. After the graduation, I drag d o w n m y stuff, leaving m y room whose voice says, " D o not leave without me!" I will miss this place.

Each year I aged at Proctor. I could hardly believe myself to be a sophomore, I junior or senior. Sometimes I thought that I was still a sophomore, and I still I saw m y friends w h o are currentlyjuniors as freshmen. M y early memory a n d ™ spirit as a young Korean sophomore kid in Proctor would endure.

I journeyed 6804 miles to come to America, to study abroad, living far away from m y family, friends, all traces of home. " W h y must I go to school in America? W h y can't I just go to school in Korea?" T h e fact that schools in j Korea were bad was true. W h a t different things did an American school give I me? Well, it taught m e to be self-sufficient, confident, reliant, responsible... A n d applying these qualities, I would understand and raise myself as m y first • goal. "First goal? W h a t do you mean by first goal?" I had lots of goals that I j expected to achieve. M y next goals arc to get degrees, be-the world's best 1 architect, marry m y girlfriend w h o m I have known since I was in 8th grade, hahaha..., earn billions of dollars, and enjoy m y whole fantastic life. Then I w call all the friends ever I have had, starting from age one, and have a huge I "kimchee" party in m y house.

A s I leave, for all m y friends and all m y respectful teachers, I would like to sffl " S E E Y O U I N T H E F U T U R E . " I will really see you...

M o m and Dad: D o you guys remember when I was so excited by the fact that there was a possibility for m e to go to Friends Academy with J.M. and that if I worked really hard, I would eventually end up in private school? Well, I guess I worked m y butt off because I am now graduating from a boarding school that far surpasses m y childhood dreams. Thanks so much for everything that you both have done to support me in my journeys; whether they are to far off places or to places within myself, you guys have both always been there for me. Thanks. Mariann: Life at boarding school has been tough on the both of us, I missed you so much while I was there and I know that you missed me. It's hard for m e to believe that pretty soon you will have the option to attend Proctor, and before we both know it you will be writing your Senior Quotes. Enjoy all the benefits that you are getting by being at Proctor, because before you know it, you are sitting at a computer thinking about who you want to thank for all the years that you have been here. I love you all. Wisdom was not at the top of the graduate school mountain, but there in the sand box at nursery school. "These are the things I learned: Share everything. Play fair. Don't hit people. Put things back where you find them. Clean up your own mess. Don't take things that aren't your's. Say you're sorry when you hurt somebody. Wash your hands before you cat. Flush. W a r m cookies and cold milk are good for you. Live a balanced life. Learn some things and draw and paint and sing and dance and play and work some every day. "Take a nap every afternoon. W h e n you go out into the world, watch for traffic, hold hands and stick together. Be aware of wonder. Remember the little seed in the plastic cup. The roots go down and plant goes up and nobody really knows how or why, but wc are like that. "Goldfish and hamsters and white mice and even the little seed in the plastic cup they all die. So do we. "And remember the book about Dick and Jane and thefirstword vou learned, the biggest word of all: Look "Everything you need to know is somewhere. The Golden Rule and love and basic sanitation, ecology and politics and sane living. "Think of what a better world it would be if we all — the whole world — had cookies and milk about 3 o'clock every afternoon and then lay down with our blankets for a nap. Or if we had a basic policy in are nation and other nations to always put things back where we found them and cleaned up after our own messes. "And it is still true, no matter how old you arc, when you go out into the world, it is best to hold hands and stick together."
