STARTING AND SAFETY FEATURES
Your eVox has a number of safety features. The electrical power supply has three such features to increase safety and avoid accidents when riding or transporting the eVox. • To activate your eVox, press the MODE button (B) to activate the display and then hold the RFID key near the spot indicated on your display screen (see Section 4.1). • A speed sensor deactivates the propulsion system when the bike is stopped (in Liberty mode only). To use electrical assistance, you need to reach a minimum speed of 3 km/h (1.9 mph) in LIBERTY mode. Simply pedal as you would on a conventional bike, and when the necessary speed is reached, you can engage the propulsion system. • In addition, a power supply kill switch is activated when one of the brake levers is used. The eVox comes with a set of two standard keys to lock the battery, as well as two RFID keys to activate the display. Keep the spare key in a safe place and take note of the identification code on your keys. If you lose both keys, a locksmith will be able to help you, or you can visit www.abus.com to order extra keys (with the identification code.) Do the same thing for your spare RFID key. If you lose both keys, call your dealer; it will be necessary to change your display, which may result in you having to pay additional charges. ** Note that it is not possible to make doubles of RFID keys.

TIPS AND SAFETY INFORMATION
6.1 Riding your eVox electric bike For your own safety and that of others, take the time to get comfortable with your new eVox, trying the power levels and various assistance modes progressively. The eVox can maintain a higher top speed than a conventional bike. It is therefore recommended that you reduce the power to level 4 or lower on bike paths or high-traffic routes. Note that traffic laws apply to the eVox the same as they do to any other road vehicle. Canadian law also requires that a helmet be worn when riding an electric-assisted bicycle. (Make sure you know the laws if you use your eVox outside the country.) Some eVox models come with a carrier that can support a load of up to 18 kg. It is not recommended to overload the bicycle or to tow too heavy a load. A poorly balanced load can destabilize the bike or increase the braking distance and potentially cause an accident. Take this into consideration when you’re preparing for a ride. It is possible to tow a trailer of 23 kg or less, but only if there is nothing on the carrier. Note that when towing a trailer, the greater the weight, the longer the braking distance.
15 6.2 Storage When storing your eVox, completely charge your battery first. Remove the eVox’s battery and keep it at room temperature. To optimize the battery’s capacity, recharge it every three months. If the battery is used and maintained properly, the battery life is approximately 800 complete recharge cycles. *One recharge cycle equals a full charge; if the battery for your eVox shows that it is half charged, only a half cycle of recharging is needed. After 800 recharge cycles, the battery will be at approximately 80% capacity.
16 6.3 Charger • Use the charger only with the eVox bike battery. • Don’t expose the charger to impacts. • Make sure the connectors are clean and dry before recharging. • Avoid exposing the charger to water. • While recharging, never cover the charger case or expose it to sunlight: the case emits heat. Since it be comes warm, keep it away from objects or materials that may be damaged by heat. • Never disassemble the charger. • Keep the charger out of the reach of children. • Description of indicator lights (LED):
• LED 1: Red - Charger is on • LED 2: Red - Recharging • LED 2: Green - Battery is charged
Also: read the information on the back of the charger.
6.4 Standards This electric vehicle is a power-assisted bicycle and meets the standard laid out in section 2. (1) of Canada’s Motor Vehicle Safety Regulations.

MAINTENANCE
Use a soft cloth and a mild cleaning solution to clean any dirt off plastic components. Wipe everything down with a dry cloth. DON’T USE A HIGH-PRESSURE SPRAY OR A COMPRESSOR TO CLEAN YOUR EVOX. DOING SO MAY FORCE WATER INTO ELECTRICAL COMPONENTS AND DAMAGE THEM. Avoid leaving your eVox outside Although the components are watertight, it is preferable not to leave your eVox outside when you’re not using it. You will also reduce the effects of ultraviolet rays from sunlight, which may cause paint discoloration or crack rubber and plastic parts. Battery maintenance Be sure to always fully charge your battery after each ride. Also, charge your battery every three months when storing it for long periods. These precautions will ensure better performance and a longer lifespan.
