ABOUT US Archi Studio Co. Ltd is an architectural practice based in Koh Samui, Thailand that integrates all the elements of Design, Technology and Engineering into elegant, ecological and economic solutions for our clients. Our company employs an international and multi-disciplined team focused in the attainment of design excellence, and committed in exploring applications of emerging technologies together with time honoured traditions to find better solutions to contemporary needs. The make-up of Archi Studio consists of 2 separate divisions, Archi Studio and Product Design Industrial (PDI). Archi Studio handles all service related work pertaining to Architecture Design, Interior Design, Material Design, Furniture Design, Property Development, Construction & Construction Management, and Project Management. Archi Studio’s 5,000 square foot offices and showroom is located on the main commercial stretch in Bophut, Koh Samui. PDI is the manufacturing and engineering arm of Archi Studio. Product development, product engineering and the manufacturing of our line of Surface Engineering products, Material Engineering products, custom bespoke collection of furniture and custom cabinetry are all done in-house at our state of the art 10,000 square foot facility located on the outskirts of downtown Koh Samui. By having everything done in-house by our highly trained and skilled craftsmen and technicians under the close supervision of our factory and project managers, we ensure that quality is kept at its highest levels and consistency at all stages of the manufacturing process. Our inspirational designs and ideas comes from the vision and foresight of our founder Stanley Tang and his dedicated team of architects, interior designers and material engineers. Once these designs and ideas are completed, our craftsmen work in tandem with our machine operators and technicians to engineer and produce the final product with care, precision, accuracy and perfection. The secret to our success is in the utilization of the right combination of craftsmanship and a high level of automation. This allows us to manufacture our products that are not only competitively priced, but also with the highest quality controls and meticulousness only accorded with high-end products and finishes. Here at PDI, we manufacture the majority of our designs utilizing our range of CNC machinery like routers and laser cutters. When procuring materials, our goal is to primarily only use renewable resources. It is important to us to ensure that these materials not only come from sources that have minimal impact on their ecosystems, but that we also procure these materials from companies that have good manufacturing practices and respect for their employees’ working environments. We only specify materials that are non-toxic, easily recyclable or biodegradable and have an overall low carbon footprint. A great deal of our effort in controlling our materials’ and products’ environmental impact begins from the idealization and conceptual stages of the design. We define and develop strategies to create sustainable products and manufacturing processes. We are deeply passionate about safe keeping our environment and changing the behavior of how we build and develop buildings and spaces. Our working legacy is to safeguard the environment and to create a sustainable and maintainable blueprint for our future generations to enjoy. Our ultimate goal is to build Archi Studio into a useful tool in social and environmental regeneration, which in turn helps to create a higher level of well-being for the Company, our employees, our clients who use our products, and for the planet that allows us to manufacture them.

Here at Archi Studio, we use Autodesk Revit Architecture to generate schedules, drawing sheets, 2D views, and 3D views from a single foundational database, automatically coordinating changes as the project develops and evolves.

Be prepared to enter a world of extraordinary style! At Archi Studio, we use cutting edge designing software like 3D Max for our daily interior designing work. Applying intended materials onto walls and into cabinetry and furniture, we carefully blend it in with the surrounding environment. To complete the design, we study the sun path at the location, before inputting the IES Lighting Data into our models. We presently design with the aid of the Vray rendering engine, converting every inch of your design into a visual presentation with photo-realism. Materials Design and Engineering is an interdisciplinary field which deals with the discovery and design of new materials. Though it is a relatively new scientific field that involves studying materials through the materials paradigm (synthesis, structure, properties, and performance), its intellectual origins reach back to the emerging fields of chemistry, mineralogy and engineering. It incorporates elements of physics and chemistry. In recent years, materials science has become more widely known as a specific field of science and engineering. Here at Archi Studio we combine our experience and knowledge with the specific needs of the design to create and engineer materials that not only meet and exceed our standards and expectations, but are also environmentally friendly and renewable. Our Materials Design Division creates materials that are not only aesthetically beautiful but highly durable as well.

In today’s world of mass produced flat pack furniture, furniture design has taken a backseat to form and function. Mass produced flat pack furniture predominantly utilize butt dowel joints that are cheaper to produce to keep costs down. This in turn creates a piece of furniture that is not built to last. Designing and engineering furniture to have both function and durability is the key design concept here at Archi Studio. Dovetail joints are incorporated in almost all of our designs, as this type of joinery is very strong because of the way the “tails” and “pins” are shaped. This makes it difficult to pull the joint apart and virtually impossible when glue is added. This type of joint is used in box constructions such as drawers, cabinets and other pieces of furniture where strength is required. It is one of the most difficult precision joint to make manually, requiring skilled workmanship and craftsmanship. Using our CNC router, we are able to produce our furniture with more accuracy and precision, and in less time than it would take a master craftsman to do.

Our Algorithmic, Parametric and Sequence Design Collections are the embodiment of a symbiosis between technology, information and knowledge engineering. Whether it is via absolute rule-based systems or more visceral digital modelling techniques, our own quest for transcendent beauty draws from the dark-meets-elegant intuition that entangles the agents of our particular design-ecology. We believe in unleashing the power of innovative aesthetics by the agency of high resolution composites: from absolute luxuriant statements, to the discrete elaborate richness of details. Our designs are aimed at pushing the boundaries of what can be actualized into the current protocols of the the design template and fabric. Design meets Art. An ecology that bases itself in innovation and expression blurs the line between design and art. Our “personal prototypes” are as much fashion as art, as conjointly our “standalone prototypes” are as much art as they are design. While there is no prescribed process, there is a meticulous engagement in the curatorship of all the agents involved in each of our assemblages. Such a clear cut point of view as artist-designer makes our work simple at the discrete levels yet complex as an ecology; makes each prototype effective, reflective and effective.

Architectural Materiality is the concept of, or applied use of, various materials or substances in the medium of building and construction. Here at Archi Studio, we take the application of building and construction materials very seriously. We believe that ecologically friendly and sustainable materials should be utilised where ever possible, so that we reduce our carbon footprint and increase sustainability building techniques and reliance. Our X2 range of 3D Algorithmic, Parametric & Sequence series of Architectural Concrete panels are cast in a reusable mold or form that has been made using one of our CNC routers, which is then cured in a controlled factory environment by our experienced technicians. These 3D concrete panels are then transported to the construction site and lifted into place. Precast concrete panels are the most commonly used building material in the world today. Archi Studio’s X2 3D Concrete Wall Panels opens up boundless possibilities to architects, designers, engineers, contractors, and all others involved in the building life cycle. Archi Studio’s X2 3D Concrete Panel come in all shapes, sizes, and forms. Some panels contain both vertically and horizontally placed steel-reinforced concrete ribs and fiberglass while others are just solid precast concrete panels. One of the main advantages of using precast concrete panels is that weather delays can be completely avoided as the concrete panels are cast in a controlled factory environment. Our CNC router is a computer controlled cutting machine that we use for cutting wood. CNC stands for Computer Numerical Control. The CNC works on the Cartesian coordinate system (X, Y, Z) for 3D motion control. Parts of the project are designed in the computer with a CAD/CAM program, and then cut automatically using a router or other cutters to produce the finished part. CNC routers can perform the tasks of many carpentry shop machines such as the panel saw, the spindle moulder, and the boring machine. A CNC router is very similar in concept to a CNC milling machine. Instead of routing by hand, tool paths are controlled via computer numerical control. A CNC router produces consistent and high-quality work and improves factory productivity. Unlike a jig router, our CNC router can produce a one-off as effectively as repeated identical production. Automation and precision are the key benefits of CNC router tables. A CNC router reduces waste, frequency of errors, and the time the finished product takes to get to market.

Using our CNC Laser Cutting Machine, finishes are precise and accurate, and have smooth cutting edges that require minimal work to finish. During the past 50 years, surveying and engineering measurement technology has made five quantum leaps: the electronic distance meter, total station, GPS, robotic total station and laser scanner. Unmanned aircraft systems (UASs) or drones (also known as unmanned aerial vehicles or UAVs) will be the sixth quantum leap in technology. Our Survey Drone is also a perfect platform for aerial photography and remote sensing. Our Drone controllers allow the uploading of GPS or Google Earth data to compute flight path coordinates and automatic route flights. The planning software also enables our operator to enter specific routes, speeds, altitudes and hover times over each point. At Archi Studio, we have embraced this technology, and utilise our custom adapted Survey Drone to accurately and safely survey any site, no matter how remote or inaccessable.
