RATIONALE 1.1
The Management and Organization Department (MOD) upholds the values of honesty, integrity and respect.
1.2
The MOD crafted the MBA-JD Researcher’s Code of Ethics to guide students in the preparation of their research work. Sometimes, students may find themselves in a situation where they are unsure of the ethical implications of what they do. This document should thus help clarify any of the common uncertainties that researchers face.
1.3
The MBA-JD Researcher’s Code of Ethics is living document. This means as more unique ethical challenges confront students, the MOD will incorporate appropriate ethical response standards into the document.
CODE OF ETHICS GUIDE 2.1
Any attempt to deceive any person that the research is an original work of a student, if it is not, is plagiarism. At times, plagiarism can be unintentional by forgetting to place the quotation marks on a statement. Since plagiarism is not acceptable, students must make sure they are careful in presenting their work as their own. To help students, the MOD requires all thesis students to take and pass the plagiarism test designed by the College of Education, Indiana University. Students submit the Plagiarism certificate to the Internship Coordinator together with the Plagiarism Confirmation Certificate (MBA-JD-F018).
2.2
Plagiarism may result from omission, but data falsification and fabrication is a sin of commission. The MOD cannot excuse any acts of data and evidence falsification and fabrication.
2.3
All MBA-JD students are required to accomplish the Declaration of Originality (MBA-JD-F027) that is bound with the final copy of the thesis submitted to the University library.
2.4
In conducting research, students respect and protect the rights and dignity of research participants, especially the vulnerable. These are minors and those who have psychological or physical disabilities.
2.5
Students should fully disclose to their research participants, any and all, implications of their participation. This information will allow them to determine whether they are willing to participate given possible repercussions.

2.6
Students should remember that there should be voluntary participation. Therefore, students should not, explicitly or implicitly, coerce any individual to participate.
2.7
Students should not put any research participant in danger, whether this is physically or psychologically.
2.8
Students should ensure that confidential information revealed during the research process remain confidential. While research will require the disclosure of findings, students should keep confidential the source of sensitive information. Either the identity of the participant is anonymous or the information is lumped with others thus making it impossible to attribute a controversial statement to a particular participant.
2.9
Students should recognize that participants can opt to withdraw from the research project at any time. If this is the case, students should remove from their database, all information gathered from the withdrawing participant.
2.10
When conducting observational research, students should bear in mind that participants must provide their consent for observation. The only exception is when observational research takes place in a public area where a stranger can observe the acts.
2.11
There should be no form of deception when gathering data. Students should not pretend to be someone else or to mislead participants regarding the research purpose.
2.12
Prior to audio or video recording of an interview, students must secure the express approval of the research participant. Students should also ensure that the recordings are properly stored so that third parties may not be privy to the information contained therein.
2.13
Students should keep original copies of interview notes and survey forms in a safe place until obtaining their degree. After, they should properly dispose of, eliminating opportunities for third parties to access the information.
2.14
Students should give an account of the actual methodology they used and report any limitations, as a result of the research design or methodology, that they encountered.
2.15
Students must acknowledge all persons who have significantly contributed to the research project.
