HISTORY SITUATION ANALYSIS With the expansion of urban construction, around the river appeared more sand field and quarry. At the same time, the economy has obtained the rapid development. In this situation, the region around the river wetland degraded seriously, which deteriorate the environment greatly, and the diversity of animals and plants are also threatened. The previous wetland in the economic tide under the pale. Local residents’ beautiful home are no longer existing.

DESIGN STRATEGY The design strategy of the project focuses on the apaptive ecology. It can spread into two aspects, eco-design and eco-exploit. This project can be divided into four core factorys, which are resourses, energy, research and relaxing.

SITE CROSS SECTION The section comes cross the site from the west to east, every section cut the site in 600 meters. From the section, we can see that the topography is flat, and the majority area is the LAND instead of the RIVER. On this view, when I played with site, I made fully use of the river, and made the biotope variously.

BIOTOPE MODEL There are seven types of biotopes in purposed planning, they are Forestland biotope, Shrubs biotope, Typical meadow biotope, Shoal biotope, Sandy meadow biotope Swamp biotope and Water biotope

ECOLOGICAL SYSTEM REBUILDING STRATEGY

1.Wetland Rebuilding 2.Habitat Rebuilding 3.Tourism Rebuilding To rebuild the wetland, it requires us to refrom the damaged site which also have the great potential to change. It is of great science to rebuild the sand mining area in five patterns, in order to reactive the broken eco-system. It is of great convience to rebuild the quarry to the rock garden because of the site advantage. At last, the reformation of farmland focus on the site potiential development, such as flowerland and experimental farm.

1.Wetland Rebuilding 2.Habitat Rebuilding 3.Tourism Rebuilding In order to rebuild the habitat of animals, reorganize the different living area of the different animals. Cause the wind is the key factory of the bird imigration and every winter, so many different spices of bird fly to this area from distance. So, calculating the quantity of different spices of birds, and make it as the mainly reference to make sure how much space do they need, moreover, based on the biotope they need. making the habitat area into five different zones, water potential habitat, antidae potential habitat, sorgbirds potential habitat, terrestrial bird habitat and climbing bird habitat.

Second, the formation of travel and sightseeing aspects based on the local culture and behavior. Third, science cognition and text also can help the wetland building, which can make the wetland more attractive.

GREENER COMMUNITY, PEACEFUL TOMORROW REBUILDING THE SUSTAINABLE COMMUNITY BY MULTI-CHANNEL USE OF THE TEA RESOURCES IN REGION OF CONFLICT IN INDIA iIFLA 2014 INTERNATIONAL STUDENT DESIGN COMPETITON 2nd PRIZE Instructor: Prof, Xiong Li. Partener: Ran Wu/ Wei Zhang/Sijia Tang/Lin Niu

INTRODUCTION Since the 21st century, region disputes and regional conflicts have been the vital aspect affecting the regional stabilwity and harmony. The conflict is enormous harmful, which not only destroys the normal economic order, but also makes the people living under the disputes facing difficult life. In order to solve the problem, we find that the connection point between the conflict. Bangara residents mostly living generations in growing Assam tea, “TEA “as the Bangara natural resources which not related to ethnic conflict. We recognized its characteristics can be owned by each other, the tea resources can exist as a subject so that the two aspects could coexist.

VARIATION ANALYSIS By investigating the condition of the site from 1993 to 2013, we can see that with the developing of urban development, the area of water area and tea plantation keeps shrinking with the times goes. Moreover, the damages caused by the influenced two conflicts lead to the disintegration of community and tardiness of economy development.

TIANHANG ZHENG

24

TEA PRODUCTION ANALYSIS The form illustrates suitable environment for tea plantation with the curve of tea output as well as the common tea culture shared by India and Bangladesh. The yellow curve in the figure shows the variance in tea growth with respect to temperature. According to the characteristics of tea, temperature between 28°—32°is most suitable for tea production. The blue curve shows the relationship between tea output and amount of amount of precipitation. From the figure we can see that the tea output is maximized when the amount of annual precipitation is about 6000ml.

MASTER PLAN Designing area located close to the original tea field, integrating and reseting the tea field. Mainly responsible for the production and transport, excursion area plants old tea tree to attract tourists and supplying multi-ways of tourism. living community integrates tea resources into the living. Production construction includes production and storage workshop. Tourism construction includs residential areas and service buildings, combined tea-drinking and tea-picking, Community construction includs residental and public buliding. Production road answers the needs for track, connecting with adjoin roads. Tourism road includes road for man and elephant. Community raod connects the whole residential area as a whole. Water transportation: connecting all the area of site, answering the needs for water demand.

PLANNING STRATEGY Tourism Assam area locates in the hilly area and has warm climate. The environment is apt to utilize the long history of tea culture tourism. The introduction of the tall ancient tea plant can rich and color tourist route planning. Publicity India and Bangladesh region’s tea culture. At the same time, ameliorate the local poverty situations.

Manufacture Make a full use of the local existing resources and restore the destruction parts of tea fields on the mountainous hilly region. Change the part of gentle slope terrain collated into a gentle slope terrace. In the irrigation projects, using the diversity of the local precipitation build the water storation system in order to make the fully use of the rainfall.

Life The war has been affected current life situation for a long time, wich also damaged the local infrastrcture. In this situation, caused some residual water in the town. So, we introduce the tea resources into the town and business street to reuse the residual water and in other hands, it will also produce more chance for the local people to communicate with others.

SECTION

1. Existing land: hilly slope, a lot of mud, scattered distribution of tea resources. 2. Zoning: combined with existing topography and tea, we plan curved lines that is elephant trails and walkway; severe soil erosion on the slopes for soil and water conservation and irrigation. 3. Planting: we bring ancient tea resources and varieties of tea. 4. Construction: we build waterfront venue as well as the establishment of elephant trails and walkways, and cladding viewing platforms.

Irrigation Water: Each network consists of a main water reservoir with multiple drains constituted for the city to provide irrigation water. 3.Green Street, Green Roof: With the introduction of water systems, tea cultivation gradually increases, we can see green streets, green roofs, etc. 4. Communication: Finally, form a plurality of communication space for people to experience the tea culture and exchange places.

MASTER PLAN Designing area located close to the scioto river, the four stop area is the most fragile point along the riverfront. I mainly designed a multiple layer of visiting route, which can make the visitors view the river in different height. What is more, the shape of the four areas is similar but same, which also can offer the visitor a totally different visiting experience. The function of this four areas is differernt, the first one is mainly offering a view of the bridge, the second offers visitor playing with the water and the canoe, the third one can let the visitors observe the water erosion in a short distance, the last one can let the tourists fishing and picnic on the deck of waterfront platform.

TIME LINE The time line mainly analysis the danamic changes in the site. Focus on the danamic changing in several key elements as follows, temperature, humidity percipitation, noise, daytime hour, wind speed, the quantity of human activities and the color of plants. It tries to making a conclusion by catching the daily changes to the annual movement. and making all the element connecting each other, which can help us to know the relationship between each other. From the chart we can see all the data and it can guide the design of the project and predict the tendence of the future of the site.
