Bonham Avenue Project Community Garden Title 2016 Research/Community Work
community garden Columbus, Ohio | Joachim Bean
1
The Bonham Avenue Community Garden is a personal exploration of vacant land reuse in an urban area with little possibility for conventional redevelopment. The parcel is owned by the City of Columbus Land Bank, and is being licensed by me as a community garden. The parcel was previously occupied by a house which was demolished in 2013. The site of the community garden, located at 818 E. Bonham Ave. in Columbus, Ohio is approximately a tenth of an acre. The of the site is bordered by a used tire shop on the northern boundary, with E. Bonham Avenue and a gravel lot on the southern boundary of the site. Kingry Street is located on the eastern boundary of the site, with a single-family residential home on the western boundary of the site. The site is located approximately 0.1 miles east from Interstate 71, and is approximately two miles from the center of Downtown Columbus. It’s also located in close proximity to the Short North, The Ohio State University, and the Milo-Grogan area.
