Q&A with Jabulani Msomi He holds a National Diploma in Drama from DUT previously known as Natal Technikon. In 2001 he joined Finca SA, a financial institution that provided financial services to the world’s lowest-income entrepreneurs so they can create jobs; build assets and improve their standard of living. There he held several positions including: Credit Controller, Finance Officer, and HR officer. Later 2004, he then joined Capitec Bank as a Branch Manager. During his 10 span with Capitec Bank, Jabulani was also involved in a number of projects within Capitec Bank. In 2011, Jabulani founded his own company Balticap (Pty) Ltd focusing on Business Strategy and Development. Balticap later (2014) changed its name and services to Afroglobe Holiday Club.

Our readers, who have been waxing lyrical about you on social media, we have finally got a chance to get up close and personal with you. Benito Mamaile: How would you describe yourself in 3 words? Jabulani Msomi: Strong-willed, Driven and Perfectionist. BM: What ignited the spark in you to start a business venture or to make significant changes in an existing business? How did the idea for your business come about?

JM: I was 7 years old when I embarked on my first business venture in school selling sweets, chocolates, and other items and that went on until I left primary. Being self-employed was on my mind from the age of 5. Travelling the world was always my biggest dream and my task was to come up with a business idea that could marry with my passion. The idea of Afroglobe Holiday Club (#BankYourHoliday) came about from observing a number of my clients in the banking sector making loans, skipping payments, and reversing debit orders just to go on a Holiday and that broke my heart deeply because it sunk ordinary South Africans deeper into debts. My idea of Afroglobe Holiday Club was to bring Tourism and Banking together in order to help ordinary South Africans realise their dream Holiday/s. BM: What has it been like traveling all over the continent? JM: Travelling in general is good for one’s soul, inner peace, experience, adventure, meeting deferent people from all walks of life and experiencing different countries and their cultures; all in all travelling opens up your mind and makes you a different person. Travelling for me is definitely a Dream Come True but above it all, the friends I make on our Tours and Countries I visit.

Afroglobe

BM: What Are Your Top 3 Favorite Destinations?

JM: Mpumalanga (South Africa), Tanzania - Serengeti (Africa) & Venice (Europe) BM: Do you have to be rich to travel the world?

JM: Absolutely not, travelling takes planning, discipline, time, and patience; it is not a competition amongst friends but your own Dream. Stop thinking about it and start Banking Your Holiday TODAY. BM: What is your long-term strategic vision for the Afroglobe?

JM: International Footprint, Key Hospitality/Tourism partnerships and investments in order to ensure that our members and clients get best value for their money. BM: What is the most important characteristic that every leader should possess?

JM: Honesty, Positivity and the ability to inspire. BM: What have been some of your failures, and what have you learned from them?

JM: (Laughing) I will not call them failures but learning experiences. Investing far more than what I should have too soon instead of building from ground up.

Be honest and straightforward (transparency); do not be afraid to turn down business if you do not have resources, capacity or experience.

BM: What are the most useful resources that you would recommend to someone looking to gain a better perspective into becoming a better entrepreneur?

JM: Find a mentor with years of experience within the industry you are going in and spend a lot of time reading and researching your industry, target market, competition and your pricing model. BM: What is the key to success when communicating with the public?

JM: Be honest and straightforward (transparency); do not be afraid to turn down business if you do not have resources, capacity or experience. Try and respond to all enquiries within 48 hours BM: What factors do you consider when evaluating services received on Afroglobe tours?

JM: - Client satisfaction, ensuring that they get value for their money - Exceptional service in order to keep them and to grow the company through word of mouth - Experience is very important, many of our clients have been to all these provinces and countries but had limited experiences, we ensure that we cover and exceed expectations by showing them what they have been missing. BM: Have you have ever established and accomplished a goal that was personally challenging? What helped you succeed?

JM: My goal has always been to be a self-sufficient business man by the age of 40, as passionate as I was in my previous jobs, I had the urge to do something that was mine. My passion and no second guessing is the key to what makes me succeed in any venture I go into.

BM: Which book had the biggest impact on your life and helped you to get where you are?

JM: Falling Forward and The Capitalist Nigger BM: In your company, how do set expectations and monitor the performance of subordinates. What guidance and direction do you find most effective?

JM: Each individual has their key roles, the expectation is for everyone to do their best and reach their individual goal. It goes without saying that doing my part in the business is important, that way one does not have unrealistic expectations. Guidance and direction comes from being a leader, if you lead well people are about to follow also ensuring that you recognize their efforts and complimenting in a job well done. BM: If you had a magic wand and could fix anything as it relates to your business, what would those areas be?

JM: None, I believe that the business is taking the direction I would have hoped it’ll take. BM: How do you believe evolving technology will impact the way we do business over the next 10 years?

JM: It would be a key and a backbone for any company, recently most business rely on technology and it is surprising how many things get done with the help of technology. The business world would be a whole different world! BM: Have you ever helped coach or mentor someone? What improvements did you see in the person's knowledge or skills?

JM: Yes, I’ve had opportunities to coach and mentor a number of young and upcoming entrepreneurs. BM: In your experience, what is the key to developing a good team?

JM: First and foremost, you need to find people who are passionate about the industry and about the business and its vision; those people will help you develop and grow your business while they gain valuable experience and grow with your business. BM: Do you have any advice for someone wanting to break into the travel industry?

JM: The travel industry is a difficult one, you have to love and have the passion to venture into it. Know your industry inside out, your competition and the destinations and laws surrounding every country. Secondly learn about destinations and attractions. Thank you for chatting to us Mr. Msomi. We wish you growth and success in your business!

A

FROGLOBE established in June 2014, Afroglobe Holiday Club is one of South Africa’s fastest growing Holiday Club, Travel & Tour Agency focusing on the retail/mass market. Our innovative business model (Bank Your Holiday) places us well above our competitors, and it ensure that every South African has access to Travel, Holiday, and Events experiences.

#BankYourHoliday concept was born 5 years ago when we picked up a growing and worrying trend amongst ordinary South Africans whereby they will take loans (Personal Loans or Credit Cards), skipping or disputing retails account payments, insurances, etc just for a holiday, travel, or event experience; and fixed savings are generally unlocked before maturity date in order to cover personal and family emergencies which also impact on the ability to save up for a Holiday. Some of the gaps we picked up in the industry is that many of the existing Holiday Clubs and Timeshare schemes are expensive, restrictive, and complicated for an ordinary South African to understand with their fixed monthly membership fees, fixed term contract, joining fees, annual membership fees, credit card requirements, minimum salary requirements, specific or affiliated hotels you can make use of, maximum time frame of your holiday, and specific time you can make use of your membership. All these are realistic limitations that make travelling and holidaying experiences difficult, restrictive, and unrealistic for a normal South African. Afroglobe Holiday Club has scrapped all the above requirements and restrictions in order to simplify the membership and make it more practical, realistic, convenient, and accessible to all South Africans. Our intimate, first-hand knowledge of South Africa and the operators with whom you will share your experience, enables us to offer you the very best. Our philosophy of working with you at every stage of the planning process allows us to fine tune your requirements whether it be your accommodation, internal travel plans or anticipated activities. At Afroglobe, we have close working relationships with a variety of hotels, Bed & Breakfasts, resorts, and self-catering accommodation – it is therefore our utmost goal to ensure we match the appropriate accommodation to your specific requirements. Similarly, we deal with a large selection of transport providers which includes rental cars, shuttles, coaches, domestic flights and the train services, as well creating customized torus in Africa and the rest of the world. We believe that Afroglobe has the ultimate selection of packaged holiday tours. We can offer a huge variety of holidaying and travelling options which range from restful to recreational, from hiking in remote parts of South Africa’s bush, to family friendly adventure tours. Afroglobe is your complete South Africa Holiday Club and Travel agency – our excellent customer service, our large range of travel options and our excellent attention to detail means you will have an experience of your life-time. How to SHARPEN By Isaac Ndhlebe Coach & Mentor

and make your selfexpressions assertive

When motives are straight, expressions get bolder. But when beliefs are strong, then nothing shall be impossible.

Let’s get on with it right away. •

Reprogram yourself by identifying these limiting thoughts as they pop into your head, and replacing them with the thoughts and ideas you identified on the right hand side instead. If you continue this exercise, you'll find the old limiting thoughts creeping up less and less, and the new empowering thoughts will begin to take their place.

5. What messages about life, people, work and yourself did you get from family as you shaped your personality? • Be prepared. • Messages from family members are repetitive and will keep coming up. • If you have chosen to reprogram any of their thoughts, values and beliefs, then be prepared to counter these beliefs whenever a family member articulates them. Consider the following questions. Finding the answers to these can help you eradicate mediocrity and get you back to the purity and perfection of self-expression. QUESTIONS 1. What are your current beliefs about work, life, people, and about yourself? Let go and try a free-writing exercise. • On top of a page write one word (work, life, etc., - one for each page) and then free associate for each word. • Write down whatever thoughts might be conjured up by the word at the top of the page. Write until each page is full! 2. How much of what you believe is your own? • Take a look at what you wrote on each page. • What messages may have come from parents, friends, family, peers, teachers, etc.? • Identify the recurring themes? • Now, pick out and highlight the things you feel truly reflect who you are and what you believe. 3. How much of it is enabling versus disabling? • Are the messages that came from others enabling and empowering? Or are they limiting? • Now, look at the ones that reflect your own inner belief system-are those empowering or limiting? • How do they make you feel? 4. What do you want to believe? • Are your beliefs reflecting how you want to feel about life, work, people and yourself? • Write each idea or thought down on the left hand side of a page, and on the right hand side, write how you'd like to feel/think about each instead.

6. What's your response when you express your belief and someone disagrees? • How are you going to respond should you share your beliefs with others, and find that they disagree? • Here's a hint: don't change your mind. It's okay that someone else believes differently from you-that's what makes the world go round after all. • Instead, simply state that you see life/work/people/etc. differently, and then repeat and reconfirm your belief to yourself. These questions, their answers and the exercises associated with each are sure to strengthen your belief system. Your challenge though is to develop confidence in your ability to express these beliefs in an unwavering fashion. There are sure to people who will disregard your beliefs. What you have to do is test your ability to continue with your belief system and keep it intact as a part of your personal growth. If it continues to feel solid, then restate and reinforce it strongly. Moving ahead, in the process, once your belief system has been strengthened, you will find that those having less confidence in their own beliefs will seek you out. You can now help and encourage others and tap them into your own belief system, following the process you used to get where you are now.

Well then, what are you waiting for? Start now!

Youth Development Through Golf Golf trains the youth to be disciplined at all times. They learn to be on time, stay prepared, dress neat, look after resources, take care of the environment, respect others and stay focused. 4. DECISION MAKING In golf every golf shot requires you to think about the golf club you need to use. You can only select the correct golf club if you have studied the environment and know your strength. Golf trains the youth to apply the process of decision making and make informed decisions with every opportunity or encounters. 5. TIME MANAGEMENT In golf every round of golf is scheduled and booked in advance, namely, tee off time. If you did not arrive 15 minutes before tee off time you are late. If you arrive a minute after tee off time you are disqualified.

Golf trains the youth to value time, schedule activities appropriately and be on time always.

It has become evident over the years that most if not all the successful people were very active in sport from a very tender age. Sport groomed them while they were still very young. In youth month we outline the key benefits of youth learning about golf and applying its principles in all spheres of their lives:

1. CONFIDENCE In golf you require confidence in order to play well and enjoy your round of golf. You are taught the basic techniques of golf as a base to build your confidence with every golf shot.

Progressive Women In Golf non-profit organisation offers various youth development programmes through golf to encourage young people to take part in sport, groom youth for successful leadership, enable career elevation and inspire active citizenship. Contact the non-profit organisation for more information. #16June1976 #16June2018 #MakeEducationFashionable #TakeAGirlChildToTheGolfCourse #ProgressiveWomenInGolf #ProudlySA

Golf trains youth to want to be confident in everything they do. They learn the benefits of education, art of preparation and being confident. info@pwingolf.co.za 2. EMOTIONAL INTELLIGENCE In golf you will always have the best shots that may lead to being over excited and bad shots that may lead to extreme frustration. Both emotions are extreme which may affect your golf game. Golf trains the youth to control their emotions and apply their minds at every opportunity and encounter. 3. DISCIPLINE In golf you have to warm up before you play and be atleast 15 minutes early on the tee box (starting point) ready to start playing. You are required to abide to the golf etiquette (rules of golf) at all times.

THE ONE THING THAT IS

STOPPING YOU FROM REACHING YOUR POTENTIAL

Elena Agaragimova Agar Consultancy Career/Performance Consultant – UAE, Dubai

In this article, I want to share something important and a topic that is close to my heart. Something different, yet something that is essential when it comes to your career and life. In my work with hundreds of people from different backgrounds, different industries, different upbringings, different goals, etc., the biggest obstacle I see people having to overcome is themselves. It is that little voice inside your head that says you cannot do it, you don’t deserve it, you are not good enough, you are dreaming too big, it is too late, there is not enough time, it is not possible, etc. It that little voice that creates fear and stops us from achieving our greatest potential. We all know that voice very well.

3. Be mindful of your own thoughts. Our thoughts create our reality. Keep your thought positive and create the reality that you want. Avoid being stuck on negative thoughts. Ask yourself, where are these thoughts coming from, from what experience in your life made you feel this way to an extent that you have conditioned yourself to think this thought every time a situation arises. Speak to a therapist or a healer if needed.

The road to realizing your self-worth is not an easy one, and there is no onetime treatment, it is a continuous effort of checking in with yourself - Elena Agaragimova, Agar Consultancy

It comes and goes for some of us; for others, that is the only voice we hear. I want to make something clear in this, that voice is YOU, it is you telling yourself all those things; which means that YOU also have the power to quiet down that voice. You might argue and say it is difficult to do so and no one said it is easy, but is it possible? Yes. Is it worth a try vs. settling down with the alternative of continuously hearing it and thus not achieving your full potential? Absolutely, yes. When we grew up as kids, we used to look at ourselves in the mirror as chubby little babies and smile and embrace ourselves just as we are. As we grow older, and conditionings of many kinds take place, and our self-love decreases along the way; often, we don't even notice it. For some of us it is worse than for others, depending on the environment you grew up in.

The road to realizing your self-worth is not an easy one, and there is no one-time treatment, it is a continuous effort of checking in with yourself and being mindful of how you feel, what you do each day, who you surround yourself with, how do you treat yourself, how do you let others treat you, what do you feed your mind and body on regular basis.

4. Eliminate people in your life who make you feel unworthy. You cannot be surrounded by people who bring you down and expect to know your worth. If you are around people who don’t love themselves, then you are likely to be the same. Surround yourself with positive energies and people that respect you, value you, and treat you with love.

5 STEPS TO QUIET DOWN THE LITTLE VOICE IN YOUR HEAD:

5. Find your purpose. Purpose is what drives us to wake up each morning and pushes us to thrive in our lives and work, so spend some time and discover your purpose. Leah Weiss covers beautifully in this article what it means to do work with a purpose and how to find your purpose.

1. Know that you are worthy and deserving. It is your human right to be loved, be have peace, to find joy, to achieve success, and your goals. 2. Don’t compare yourself to anyone. As one of my favorite boot camp instructors tells us in class “It is you against you”. Period. Self-worth is about how you feel inside; it is about your inherent worth as a person; not as your external factors.

Go on, know your worth. Live your best life! Email: elena@agarconsultancy.com Elena Agaragimova

The POPI Act specifies a few conditions applicable to the processing of personal information by responsible parties or their employees with the aim to protect the personal information of the public. These conditions are: a. Accountability b. Processing limitation c. Purpose specification d. Further processing limitation e. Information quality f. Openness g. Security safeguards h. Processing Limitation: Information must be processed lawfully and in a reasonable manner that does not infringe the privacy of the subject from which the information is acquired.

Personal information may only be processed if it is adequate, relevant and not excessive for the purpose it will be processed for. Security Safeguards A responsible party must secure the integrity and confidentiality of personal information in its possession or under its control. This is done by taking appropriate, reasonable technical and organisational measures to prevent loss of, damage to or unauthorised destruction of personal information and also to prevent unlawful access to or processing of personal information. Where there are reasonable grounds to believe that the personal information of a data subject has been accessed or acquired by any unauthorised person, the responsible party must notify the Regulator and the subject from which the data was acquired. Data Subject Participation A data subject has the right to request a responsible party to confirm whether or not the responsible party holds personal information about the data subject. The responsible party may request any person making such request to supply proof of identity. A record or description of the personal information of the data subject held by the responsible party, including information about the identity of all third parties, or categories of third parties, who have, or have had, access to the information must also be provided to the data subject at no charge.

Any subjects from which data was acquired may request that personal information must be corrected or destroyed. The Information Regulator The POPI Act established a new regulatory body called the Information Regulator. The Information Regulator must undertake educational programs for the purpose of promoting the protection of personal information, monitor and enforce compliance by public and private bodies with the provisions of the Act, receive and handle complaints about alleged violations of the protection of personal information of data subjects. The Act also makes provision for the issuing of Codes of Conduct by the Regulator that may be industry specific. What happens if you don’t comply? Apart from the civil action that may be taken against the responsible party the Regulator may impose fines or penalties of up to 10 Million or 10 years imprisonment or both a fine and imprisonment. Although POPI feels like one hell of an administrative headache, just ask yourself if you would like your private personal information to be public information due to the negligence of a business or individual you engaged with previously. Remember that at the end of the day the goals are safety and security.

CAPE TOWN - The Department of Economic Development and Tourism is set to release a new tool later this year that will assist businesses in becoming more digitally savy. The SMME support platform will be a mobile-friendly site that will enable small businesses to connect with various support services as well as funding institutions.

Minister for Economic Development and Tourism, Alan Winde said that small businesses play a huge role in the in the development of our economy, and in driving employment in our province. He added that this new platform will put the whole support system for entrepreneurs into the palms of their hands, making it easier for them to innovate and grow. What will first be rolled out as a site will then most likely translate into an app, said Winde. Currently, government is in talks with various businesses and the tool is in its consultation phase. In order to identify exactly what it is businesses need and to brief organisations on how they can get involved, the EDT Department is currently hosting a series of roadshows. Notably, the first roadshow was held in Woodstock, with five more to be hosted in the remaining districts in the Western Cape over the course of next month. “There is a great push to move government and services to a new level and for businesses to get the support on a single platform”, said Davies. “It is essentially a resolution as we move into the fourth industrial revolution”, he added. The Minister said he envisages the platform to take the form of an Uber app which will map out a region and businesses will be able to see other businesses and turn on their visibility and availability to do business. The platform will include practical value for small business owners, mentors, funders, SMME support organisations, business chambers and economic development officials in local government and procurement decision makers. "This platform will give us, and the many organisations actively working to support entrepreneurs, a better way of linking SMMEs to resources, and to opportunities. For example, when a new school or clinic is built, the positive ‘sub-contract ripple’ can be harnessed for the benefit of SMMEs in the area by making the project and opportunities visible on this platform", concluded Winde. Great leadership can be a difficult thing to pin down and understand. You know a great leader when you’re working for one, but even they can have a hard time articulating what it is that makes their leadership so effective. It was once rumored that Starbucks’ CEO Howard Schultz would run for president, but Schultz shut the idea down almost immediately. He wrote in an article: “Despite the encouragement of others, I have no intention of entering the presidential fray. I’m not done serving at Starbucks.” Schultz commitment to his company over the temptation of the limelight is interesting. What’s admirable is his desire to be a leader who serves. Service isn’t just something Schulz gives lip service to in the press; his mission is to create a company where people are treated with respect and dignity, and he backs this rhetoric up with his money and time. Starbucks will spend $250 million over the next 10 years to put benefit-eligible employees through college, and Schultz wakes up every day at 4:00 a.m. to send motivational e-mails to his employees (the email he wrote yesterday asking employees to show empathy for customers who have been affected by the plummeting stock market is an interesting, recent example of this). It’s through a leader’s actions—what he or she does and says on a daily basis—that the essence of great leadership becomes apparent.

Dream more than others think practical. Expect more than others think possible. Care more than others think wise. - Howard Schultz Behavior can change, and leaders who work to improve their skills get results. In Schultz’s case, he’s been honing his leadership craft for three decades through, among other things, the direct coaching and mentoring of leadership expert Warren Bennis at USC. Not everyone can take on Warren Bennis as a mentor, of course, but when it comes down to it, improving your leadership skills is within your control. You just need to study what great leaders do and to incorporate these behaviors into your repertoire. There are six critical things that great leaders do that really stand out. Any of us can do the same.

They’re kind without being weak. One of the toughest things for leaders to master is kindness. Kindness shares credit and offers enthusiastic praise for others’ work. It’s a balancing act, between being genuinely kind and not looking weak. The key to finding that balance is to recognize that true kindness is inherently strong—it’s direct and straightforward. Telling people the difficult truth they need to hear is much kinder than protecting them (or yourself) from a difficult conversation. This is weak. True kindness also doesn’t come with expectations. Kindness is weak when you use it in a self-serving manner. Self-serving kindness is thin—people can see right through it when a kind leader has an agenda. Think of Schultz, who dedicated $250 million to employee education with no strings attached, and as soon as employees finish their degree, they are free to walk out the door. That’s true kindness. They’re strong without being harsh. Strength is an important quality in a leader. People will wait to see if a leader is strong before they decide to follow his or her lead or not. People need courage in their leaders. They need someone who can make difficult decisions and watch over the good of the group. They need a leader who will stay the course when things get tough. People are far more likely to show strength themselves when their leader does the same. A lot of leaders mistake domineering, controlling, and otherwise harsh behavior for strength. They think that taking control and pushing people around will somehow inspire a

loyal following. Strength isn’t something you can force on people; it’s something you earn by demonstrating it time and again in the face of adversity. Only then will people trust that they should follow you. They’re confident, without being cocky. We gravitate to confident leaders because confidence is contagious, and it helps us to believe that there are great things in store. The trick, as a leader, is to make certain your confidence doesn’t slip into arrogance and cockiness. Confidence is about passion and belief in your ability to make things happen, but when your confidence loses touch with reality, you begin to think you can do things you can’t and have done things you haven’t. Suddenly it’s all about you. This arrogance makes you lose credibility. Great, confident leaders are still humble. They don’t allow their accomplishments and position of authority to make them feel that they’re better than anyone else. As such, they don’t hesitate to jump in and do the dirty work when needed, and they don’t ask their followers to do anything they aren’t willing to do themselves. They stay positive, but remain realistic. Another major challenge that leaders face is finding the balance between keeping things positive and still being realistic. Think of a sailboat with three people aboard: a pessimist, an optimist, and a great leader. Everything is going smoothly until the wind suddenly sours. The pessimist throws his hands up and complains about the wind; the optimist sits back, saying that things will improve; but the great leaders says, “We can do this!” and he adjusts the sails and keeps the ship moving forward. The right combination of positivity and realism is what keeps things moving forward. They’re role models, not preachers. Great leaders inspire trust and admiration through their actions, not just their words. Many leaders say that integrity is important to them, but great leaders walk their talk by demonstrating integrity every day. Harping on people all day long about the behavior you want to see has a tiny fraction of the impact you achieve by demonstrating that behavior yourself. They’re willing to take a bullet for their people. The best leaders will do anything for their teams, and they have their people’s backs no matter what. They don’t try to shift blame, and they don’t avoid shame when they fail. They’re never afraid to say, “The buck stops here,” and they earn people’s trust by backing them up. Great leaders also make it clear that they welcome challenges, criticism, and viewpoints other than their own. They know that an environment where people are afraid to speak up, offer insights, and ask good questions is destined for failure.

8 SERIES COUPÉ

NEW BMW REVEALED IN M850I XDRIVE GUISE! By Ryan Bubear Ryan has spent most of his career in online media, writing about everything from sport to politics and other forms of crime. But his true passion – reignited by a 1971 Austin Mini Mk3 still tucked lifeless in a dark corner of his garage – is of the automotive variety.

This, ladies and gentlemen, is the new BMW 8 Series Coupé. And it’s heading to South Africa. While the worldwide market launch of the sleek new coupé is scheduled for November 2018, the two-door sportscar will go on sale in SA in the first quarter of 2019. Note, however, that only the M850i xDrive derivative will be offered locally. In overseas markets, two variants will be available: the aforementioned M850i and the diesel-powered 840d xDrive. The latter, for the record, makes 235 kW and 680 N.m from its 3,0-litre inline-six diesel mill, hitting 100 km/h from standstill in a claimed 4,9 seconds. And the M850i? Well, as we already knew, this model will employ the brand’s twin-turbo 4,4-litre V8 petrol engine (that BMW says has “undergone extensive refinement”) linked to an eight-speed automatic transmission, and sending 390 kW and 750 N.m (the latter between 1 800 and 4 600 r/min) to all four corners. The obligatory zero to 100 km/h dash is completed in a claimed 3,7 seconds, while top speed comes in at 250 km/h. Expect an M8 to follow at a later stage.

BMW says the latest version of its xDrive system in the M850i features a rear-wheel bias and a rear differential lock to ensure “maximum agility and precision”. Adaptive M suspension and integral active steering will ship standard. Set to be built at BMW’s Dingolfing plant alongside the 7 Series, the new 8 Series Coupé measures 4 843 mm long, 1 902 mm wide and 1 341 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2 822 mm. The M850i model will run on 20-inch M lightalloy wheels finished in Frozen Cerium Grey metallic with a high-gloss polished finish and wrapped in 245/35 R20 front tyres and 275/30 R20 rear rubber. BMW says the new model’s “almost fully sealed” underbody, active air flap control with adjustable grille slats and “air curtains” help to reduce aerodynamic drag. On the M850i xDrive variant, an additional front spoiler further minimises front axle lift at high speeds. The BMW M Performance model is fitted with an M rear spoiler as standard, too. The Bavarian automaker says full leather trim for the instrument panel and door shoulders will be standard on the 8 Series Coupé, along with a leather sports steering wheel (M850i upgrades to an even sportier tiller) with shift paddles. Interestingly, the control unit for the light functions now consists of a block of buttons positioned at the bottom of the instrument panel between the steering wheel and the driver’s door. The standard audio system comprises eleven speakers and a digital amplifier, although there is also the option of the Harman Kardon surround sound system featuring 16 speakers as well as the Bowers & Wilkins Diamond surround sound system, the latter boasting diamond loudspeaker technology, fully active 16-channel amplifier (with an output of 1 375 watts), dynamic equalising and 16 partly illuminated speakers. The BMW 8 Series Coupé will come standard with the BMW Live Cockpit Professional, which features the latestgeneration display and control concept comprising a high-resolution instrument cluster with a screen diagonal of 12,3 inches and a 10,25 inch control display.
