Reflections . . .
The world around us is one of reflections. Light is reflected from all surfaces to make objects visible; it shows reality in sharp relief. In a similar way knowledge is reflected from the lives and experiences of those of our own and of previous times. This past year has been an enormous mirror with bending surfaces, detecting friends, interesting places, and reflecting them to our mind. Here the images of the year will remain, even as we go our separate ways.
The 1965 Polaris is meant to be a reminder of these reflections, because everyone has their own particular angle of vision into the mirror of reality.

Jill Gonski, Foreign Exchange Stu(ent Jill Gonski is our Foreign Student this year. She has lived in South Africa all her life in the large city of Johannesburg. She loves all types of music; and at home she has been the piano soloist with the Johannesburg Symphony Orchestra. She loves acting and is taking part in our two school productions, "My Fair Lady" in which she plays Mrs. Higgins, and in ,,Antigone,, in which she plays the nurse. She loves being with people and she would like to become a doctor. She has already graduated and has completed one half of her first year of medical studies at a University in Johannesburg.

The Student Government Association (S. G. A.) at Peary has a two fold purpose, it provides a medium for teaching the principles of democracy and fair government and it provides a forum where students may resolve their problems, voice their criticisms, and render suggestions.
Our S. G. A. is composed of the Executive branch; consisting of the President, the Vice-President, the Secretary, the Treasurer, and the Speaker of the House; and the Legislative branch; consisting of the Senate and the House of Representatives. This year the S. G. A. has done such things as put a juke box in the cafeteria, sponsored a canned food drive, and published a student telephone book.

basketball team came out on the short end of more than one very close win 13 loss record, the team under the direction of Mr. Frank Moore had some outstanding players. John Hutchison is being considered for a basketball scholarship to Rutgers, and Mal Harris has had offers from several schools including washington and Lee. Although we didn't have a winning season, no one can deny it was an exciting one. Next year, with players from our 17-2 Junior Varsity, should tell a different story. game. Finishing with an 8

"A good solid ball club held down by experienced Seniors," was the opinion of Coach Bill Williams of this year's Baseball team. Supported by some very promising Juniors in the form of John Pelicano and Bob Badczewski, the outlook for future teams is bright. John Pelicano and Larry Mischou, both first rate pitchers, went to Cuba over the Christmas Holidays playing on the U. S. team. Both of these boys are Juniors and will be the nucleus of next year's pitching staff. The Huskies are playing in a more difficult league, and the prospects of taking the championship are excellent.

This year's track team is highlighted by the superior highjumping of the letterman, Tim Mclntosh. He is expected to clear 6 feet, dominating that event. There are several returning seniors who should do well in their individual events. The team isn't as strong as it could be, but we're sure the boys put out 1 10 per cent.

As Time Goes By
Homecoming activities began with a rained-out bonflre, which was held a week later. The football game against Springbrook resulted in a tie and allowed good feelings to accompany the dance. Lighted hands of a clock turned over the dance floor at the Homecoming while smaller clocks presided at the center of tables. Cheryle Brown, Queen, was crowned at the dance and her court was presented.
