CORPORATE & COMMUNITY PARTNERS

PURPOSE The goal of the Progressive Greek media family is to take the basic foundation the members of the National PanHellenic Council* (NPHC) member organizations provided during membership intake and build upon that foundation. Since 1906, NPHC organizations have amassed a collective membership of over 500,000 individuals. As a result, the role and undeniable impact of Progressive Greeks in our communities has been tremendous. It is our belief that to improve the quality of life, is to improve the individual members which create better chapters, stronger regions and phenomenal organizations. We are dedicated to making a difference and redefining the Greek stereotype. We feel it is time to showcase Greek life beyond step shows and chants. Progressive Greek is a movement!

“Progressive is a state of mind, not a great job, flawless credit, fancy clothes etc. Your mentality controls your destiny” -Kevin Davis, Founder *Progressive Greek is not affiliated with nor endorsed by the National Pan-Hellenic Council, Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc., and Iota Phi Theta Fraternity, Inc.

FROM WHENCE WE CAME The basic premise of founding Progressive Greek came many years ago after founder Kevin Davis became a member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc. Being an avid magazine and professional biography reader, Kevin noticed there wasn't a central professional network for members within the National Pan-Hellenic Council (NPHC) organizations. During the early 2000s, many websites attempted to solve this problem, but for one reason or another they either didn't appeal to the Greek community or lacked depth to be an effective vehicle for news and networking opportunities. In 2005, the Metropolitan Detroit National Pan-Hellenic Council began to host a networking event known as the “Greek Sip, which provided an opportunity for Greeks, both neophyte (new) and prophyte (seasoned) the opportunity to practice the art of networking and social fellowship. During that series of events, a sub-culture of professional Greeks in the Detroit area began to change the landscape of networking, event hosting, marketing and information sharing within the area. As his network grew, there seemed to be a lack of outward representation of NPHC members in board rooms and leading other community initiatives. Kevin pondered why there weren't more Greeks leading these initiatives, and if they were why don't we all know about it? The quandary led him to the concept of utilizing strategic networking opportunities to create a fruitful and positive outlook within the Greek community. Around that same time Sigma Frater Kevin Davis, Kappa Frater Quinne Lowe, and Kappa Frater Erik Stephens, formed a media and marketing company, Crush Media Group. The company provided solutions to the general community, but with the founding of Progressive Greek, Kevin and Quinne would be able to take those same skills and abilities and serve the Greek community. The formal foundation for Progressive Greek was laid in 2009 with almost a year of underground testing, research and analysis of the Greek community. On Saturday, January 9, 2010 Progressive Greek was formally launched.
