“I’m glad I’m not the only one that’s ridiculously sentimental.”

“There’s always something. There’s always something to do.”

No One is too Small to Make a Difference

59 seconds of watching a junction

“I just have to. The first voice. You have to go with the first thing in your head. Its neither big nor clever and that’s what makes it better in my view.”

“These objects were really insistent in how they existed. I don’t see them having a hell of a lot of humour.” “I am this thing and this is what I do.”

“I am crushed I am folded, I am loved. I am pressured I am held I am loved I am caressed I am knotted I am loved I am tangled I am precious I am loved I am lost I am found I am loved.”

“It really makes little to no sense. I hold that close to my heart.”

“I thought, don’t try and make things be things that they aren’t.”

“I was falling asleep and I thought about the dream of the box. This dream of returning to something small. This is what its saying to me, this is what it means to me, this is what a crumpled up piece of paper or a 60 year old bus ticket would say to me.”

“I don’t often know the right word, I was just looking at it and that was it.”

“If you collected really giant things theres only a really small amount of them you’d be able to keep.”

“From being wee girls onwards we had the box that we kept stuff in. Or the box that our grannies kept stuff in.

You would always wonder what was inside it.”

“I have no idea who drew it, or what it is of, but I couldn’t throw it out when I found it. It would have been wrong.”

“Crouched and bows, bhuddled in burrows.”

“ This is a place I go to everyday for my walk. This was a day when there was this weird fog and crows. I must have hundreds of photos of these trees. I’m not gunna make you look at them all. But the crows were definitely up to something that day.

‘There was this man showing people around, and he had this little book. On every page it said ‘emulate’. Emulate was the name of a fishing boat. Whenever a boat brings in a fish they get put into boxes, and they put the name that the boat was called onto the box.”

A Brick with Ambition

I like the quiver of excitement as the wind stirs leaves how they sigh and glow as the sun catches every colour then goes. I like the fat black birds that sit so at home as the wind shakes the trees and they bob as though on a stormy sea. I like, how no leaf tries to be like all the other leaves and all their different colours are beautiful together. I like, that each leaf chooses its own time to fall, how they innately know when to stay and when to go. I like that they whisper to me all their secrets and if I touch their rough bark, they will listen. And I will whisper mine back.

“I’ve been thinking of all these processes we have of finding words in the past. On scrolls, sometimes papyrus. Which apparently are more fragile at the beginning and the end. So they don’t have a start and an end. It made me think of how we find the hidden words, the way they were made. Things were pressed, things were pushed. So this is me unfolding the words.”

“Just because you see it every day, doesn’t mean that it’s not important.”
