2 | OUR WORKS

Bali has its famous building code, in which every building’s height must not exceed the height of coconut tree (15 meters) and all building must apply The Balinese architectural element, especially the roof crown and roof corner ornament. Exceeding expectation this guidelines bind all the diverse buildings, big and small, into completely integrated surroundings, creating a very strong tropical island character. This hotel was designed in a way that allowed traditional elements to prominently adapted to modern architecture. A clean modern with local natural finishes covered with earth tone understated color has make an uncluttered ambience to emphasize the traditional element and accessories.

Commonly, the vernacular approach is interconnected with the design concept of ecological, back to nature, green building. And so this hotel does. Welcomed by a double height wooden ceiling lobby with natural ventilation of a hillside breeze, flowing through a corridor to the pool and open space coffeeshop, this hotel designed to be energy efficient, low maintenance, and ecofriendly.

With a huge site as a blank canvas that allows unobstructed view to appreciate architectural design emerging as artform, we started the strive for iconic design by exploring bold character and encourage our creative process to discover new points of inspiration. Our design steps are guided by a modern deconstructivism as a unique architecture approach. Although the finished design appears sophisticated, the overall concept indeed very simple. The unpredictable form contains two monolithic square with contrast surface skin finishes, manipulated by non-rectilinear movement which shapes a visual distortion and dislocate the constructed building.

But since this complex process is based on 2 simple forms, we are still able to carefully do a composition fine-tuning between them along the way and find the presence of balance, accent, and harmony.

Hospitals are the most complex building types. Each hospital is comprised of a wide range of services and functional units. These include diagnostic and treatment functions such as clinical laboratories, imaging, emergency rooms, and surgery. Combined with hospitality functions such as food service and housekeeping, and the fundamental inpatient care or bed-related function. This diversity is reflected in the wide range of regulations, codes, and oversight that govern hospital construction and operations. Located in the residential area of East Jakarta, Columbia Asia Pulomas begin to provide its excellent healthcare. This multi-specialty hospital, with a built-up area of over 8500 sqm, has complete facilities, ranging from 24-hour emergency to radiology and operating theatres. While in line with the growing demand, Columbia Asia Pulomas decided to expand its capacity by build second phase establishment, covering up to 126 beds with more ICU and other facilities to cater to the needs of the community.

Grown to be the largest coffeeshop brand in Indonesia, Excelso make a bold statement in brewing industries by designated to open the first stand-alone outlet in Indonesia. Together we move forward in this collaboration aiming to give a kickstart and new branding strategies. Created a new place of worship for booming coffee enthusiasm we drawn inspiration from the industrial architecture and infusing the interior with a strong sense of authenticity. In doing so we deliberately chose to steer clear from the old fashioned concept and create an environment where customers can soak up in total fresh design concept.

Located in the middle of 14.000 sqm Petrokimia Plantation Nursery & Study, this small cafĂŠ is designed as a meeting point to attract guests while exploring the gardens as well as visitors passing by. 250 sqm floor area are employing raw, honest natural materials to add grittiness of country design style. The surrounding landscape responded by high vaulted wooden and full height glass, dissolves the barriers between indoors and out. Bathed in natural light this greenhouse interiors transformed into coffee & dine experience.

The key assignment in this project is to optimize the potential of unused warehouses located in a petrochemical factory complex. The existing is a six bay 12 meter span steel structure with 6 meter high space. The layout will be divided into cafĂŠ and coworking space. After a brief discussion we decided to insert a mezzanine floor to create the coworking space and lay the cafĂŠ kitchen and staff area underneath. By designing that way, we manage to create an uninterrupted activity flow and more private working area.

While the major materials used for new elements are waxed wood, frosted glass, cement board panel to create smooth finishes, the original material of existing elements such as concrete, steel are re-exposed by removing the paint so as to emphasize its rough character and heavy textured existing. Together random leaves mural, indoor vegetation, and a splash of bright neonsign letters, carefully composed to create the updated industrial vibe.

The L shape site clearly points the potential layout for this hotel and convention mix-use. The long area best fit the long hotel rooms and the L feet is for the ballroom area that requires square outline. The rooms are arranged along the two towers connected by bridge. This allows more open air and natural light penetrate into the corridor outside the rooms. Optimizing design modelling technology for creating a high performing facade in this project is a complex approach yet become the most interesting part of design process. By morphing the simple combination panel of “Tenun Sumba pattern, concrete, and composite wood panel we can produce hundreds of options and carefully sculpted the composition with every micro adjustment. This is open up an opportunity for our designers to express their design vision and aesthetic intent with cutting edge precision.

Our aim for the interior design of the guest room is to optimize the use of space and create a warm contemporary atmosphere. So from the beginning, our designer configuration of the hotel rooms has led to more generous proportions and clever solutions that meet today’s modern guest requirements and give the impression of an enlarged space. To create nuances, we convey raw yet refined materials with understated color palette of white and earthy wood tones to build on the calm theme and sense of space, complement the floor and creating a fresh neutral base for accessories and splash accent of bright turquoise color in some of the upholstery. Together, thoughtful detailing and spaces create a balance.

Greenhouses through their formal qualities has a long stood on its own limited use and its utilitarian design. Yet along a greater demand for sustainable architecture, this form is gaining more attention these days. It is consequently undergoing unprecedented transformations as contemporary architecture are rethinking and reinterpreting what a greenhouse can best be used as vital component to their design. Rather than following the original project brief which approach architecture as a sterile monocultural building environment, we are exploring a different approach to the ecosystem. In the ground floor we incorporate the typology of traditional Javanese scheme which is mainly a combination of natural concrete and terracotta but in the rooftop we construct a modern greenhouse building with the outline of traditional hip roof that is contrast but sitting so well with its surrounding. Whimsically connects the idea of modern architecture and its sustainable interaction.

Presenting a sleek façade to heterogenic neighborhood can sometimes be achieved by simple application of geometric design and prominent use of white color. This “Meierâ€?-ish style has been establishing a reputation along expanded horizons of contemporary architecture while maintaining rational approach to design and detailing. This style also has the advantage to be easily adapted to its location.

The 24 rooms hostel building was carefully conceived with grid plans and symmetrical layout, split in the middle by naturally ventilated corridor. The 10-12 sqm rooms are designed to be compact, exploring the boundaries of how small is too small, challenging conventional notions of what is the actual necessity. All windows along both sides in the upper-floor release the small rooms from isolation, completed with small balconies to add more shading and more volume subtraction for a lighter appearance. The final look of this arrangement is simple and airy building nestled gently into a lush of green contoured terracing grass fields.

Boutique hotel is translated to be a small and intimate hotel, held in a stylish design decor with a personal touch. It has a unique character and distinguishes itself from other hotel types. It provides guests with great tailored service and is typically situated in a fashionable urban location. Our design process starts with one of a kind irregular shaped site, with only 17 meters width of opening from the one way street but spacious in the back area. Then the zone outlined to the potential of this site accordingly. The big convention placed in the back area to suit the demand for maximal capacity, hotel guestrooms fit well in square stretch in the middle for and the excess area is for back of house and utility building. The boldest decision while configuring the best layout for this hotel is pulling traffic circulation inside the site, taking a precious square meter. But the aim of enjoyment in the leisure of walk along an “Iconic Passage would be a fair bargain for impressive selling point to traveller. Wrapped with patterned metal panel, side by side to full glass double height lobby, the design states vigorously to attract public without being distorted.

As this apartment for a young couple, located in a prestigious condominium complex surrounded by unrivalled deluxe public area, it defines a particular lifestyle and a set of requirements to settle. The modern cosmopolitan mind and its vision for a city retreat that update in style yet bring comfort and easy on the eyes.

Some will ask what was the biggest challenge in this project? At first, we thought it would be difficult for us to persuade the clients to use so much white. It turned out a lot easier than imagined. Organising and synchronising all the people that worked on realising this project was the toughest. As there was so much details, we had to go over them again and again, explaining and drawing from every angle. Our effort is paid forward by the charm of simplistic result blended with the modern style and trends. An “American Classic vibe with extra calm and warmth.

The purpose of this coworking space set up is not commercially driven, but more related to accommodate the over-shifting flow of different occupants in headquarter spaces. Employees, temporary occupants, partners, customers, suppliers, clients, etc, especially those who are on a long business trip, they can work remotely without having to lose time over long shuttle trips and traffics. Another important aspect is the contribution to optimize collaboration, sharing information and knowledge across departments, continents, and stakeholders. It brings the future of modern workplaces with intelligent office design which promotes a United Tractors new way of smartenabled agile working.

The workplace has become dynamic and integral tool for progressive companies looking to leverage their brand, attract and retain the best employees and set themselves apart from competition. Our assignment is to refresh the old cubicle era to modern open plan office with up to date desk and office chair setup, meeting pod where members can focus together. And never forget the beanbag, the laid back sofa with bright colour throw pillows to help the brain get a fresh perspective. Together with the fun and creative design process, reflected a translation of corporate mission and strategies to the built environment. As together we create a place that is uniquely and intimately to be company expression of innovation, commitment, spirit, and synergy.

Following the accomplished Design Guidelines in transforming their offices throughout Indonesia, the pilot project assignment is the design implementation to the Top 3 Branch. One of them is Samarinda Office. Open studios, library, breakout area, just a few new workplace types that evolved with the emergence of digital era. These new spaces pushing out the old concept of centralized decision-making, and replace them with a more transparent setup that reinforces different cultural values and caters to a whole new generation of young professionals that put great value on well-being and at-work comfort.

Having designed many houses on small lots under the current restriction, has raised our awareness not to build a bulky and massive box to maximize building sqm but instead rethinking room requirement as the usual owner’s demands are somehow no longer current to the real need of modern family. The largest area we reclaim is garage since a nice carport well do best nowadays. So do the separated guest room and service area placement that usually take the precious sqm of building.

By reducing the sqm, it makes the layout can breathe more and light can penetrate inside. The facade can be shaped more freely and appear with more 3 dimensional depth. Incorporated custom wood paneling and glass railing, it provides clean, zen, and aesthetic facade.

Appointed by Nindya Karya, we were was tasked with the refurbishment of 2100 sqm working area, interior design has to follow these performance goals : Emphasizing the company service excellence and innovative spirit. Having a personal touch that distinguished from others. Rejuvenated the staff area into open plan office but leave some high privacy spot for staff internal discussion. Derived from that goals the team arrange the layout of working area to be unpartitioned and fluid. The finishing material scheme is base around the use of walnut brown wood, texture, statuario marble table top, and brass decorative panel. So the updated coworking interior vibe still reflects the formal side of state owned corporation.

This Heart Center is one of the main facility in the newly built Brawijaya Hospital. Managed by TE Healthcare Asia, it will be the home of country top experienced cardiologists with fully integrated high end equipment such as the first Hybrid Operating Theatre in Indonesia to provide comprehensive cardiovascular care and treat a wide range of heart conditions.

The design concept is far from outdated hospital of white spaces with vinyl floor. Using incorporated simple lines, some corporate splash of color, diffused illumination, and a long side patch of roof garden as the main feature to focus on patient calm and warm experience. Because we believe that this design should beat with the same heart with the healing environment.
