Combining 35 years of experience of a British racer and 25 years experience in the manufacturing world in the US and Asia, the Pro-Lite Team has a unique, hands-on, down-to-earth approach. Do something once and you will begin to understand. Do something 10,000 times and you will become expert.

Expertise.

The best stuff is often the hardest to make. Using high-zinc alloys requires careful attention to welding technique. Every aspect of carbon manufacturing demands forethought, from individual strands to resin qualities to forming pressure and bladder materials. Since we manufacture in our own factories, we have total control over every step.

Versatility.

Our manufacturing history extends from BMX to DH to CX to Road, Track and TT, even including race quality kidâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s bikes. Although primarily centered on bicycles and their ilk, we have even made our fair share of items beyond the scope of cycling. If you can dream it, we can make it.

We know what you want. We make what you need. Pro-Liteâ&#x20AC;&#x2122;s in-house manufacturing facilities include state of the art carbon manufacturing, reducing our reliance on external manufacturing sources. We handle every step, including drawing, layup, mold creation, forming in our own high-pressure forming machine and curing. Using thick-wall bladders during the forming process, we are able to attain strong, rigid carbon fibre products with a minimum of excess material and smooth internal surfaces. Our brutal testing machine puts wheels through a punishing set of endurance tests simulating excessive lateral force, terrain that makes cobbled roads look like a manicured track and general inappropriate use of a bicycle wheel for thousands of kilometers of sustained abuse. Confidence comes from knowing that you have done everything right at every step. Testing simply confirms that the wheels we build are truly the gold standard.

Manufacturing What do you get when you choose Pro-Lite? Decades of experience – both from the perspective of a professional racer and as a professional builder. Quality materials – PBS tubing has some of the highest strength-to-weight ratios, similar to that of scandium, but without the exorbitant cost. It includes custom formed 7046 alloy tubing shaped to your needs and welded by skilled workers who know how to handle high-zinc 7000 series alloys. Of course, we can also work with any other material you could want. Wheelbuilding – 100% handbuilt wheels are indisputably the best product available. Having built wheels for hundreds of customers, serving every market imaginable, we can confidently say that our product is top shelf regardless of what type of wheel you need. It’s not just about having skilled, attentive workers on the line, also the basis of the production line benefiting from old-school methods like soaking nipples in oil, multiple passes of spoke de-tensioning, and high accuracy tools calibrated twice daily. Padova Carbon Tubular Wheel Chair Disc Flat Disc Profile

Pro-Lite has been involved with wheelchair racing at the world-class level since the Padova was first released with its ground-breaking proprietary internal structure and while other companies lose interest in the niche market, we continue to search for new opportunities to support this inspiring collective of indomitable athletes. But while we ride our bikes hard and long, and put every ounce of pure Pro-Lite quality into the Padova in any configuration, we aren’t world-class wheelchair racing athletes. So we got a few words together from Michael Mills, a man who is just seconds away from his goal of setting a new world record. Michael races for Team Shepherd, a team that regularly places athletes in the Paralympics and assists Michael as he inches ever closer to his dream. After his first serious race on a brand new set of Padova WCR wheels he recently purchased, he had this to say:

“I have never had a pair of wheels that were as rigid and as stiff as these. I am able to get more power out of my stroke due to the stiffness of the wheel. Most disc wheels have flex and a lot of give. Not Pro-Lites. With the stiffness and the low rolling resistance, it makes for a perfect wheel for wheelchair sports. Superlight Straight-Pull XC Wheelset Tubeless Ready I-Beam Rim

Everybody knows that carbon fibre is light and strong. But not everybody is familiar with the intricacies of multidirectional forces within a hub. A deep knowledge of carbon fibre, calling on more than 30 years of wheelbuilding experience, has helped the R&D team to put together a hub with a carbon fibre shell carefully bonded to alloy flanges and super low friction bearings. Carbon Hub/Aneto SL

42 ratchet points sit on a slotted ratchet ring, allowing extreme torque delivery and resistance to impact damage.

An astounding 84 engagement points are possible by using a total of six pawls, arranged in two sets of three, each with a double-toothed pawl. At any given time, three pawls are engaged, each providing two points of contact for maximum strength.
