LETTER TO EDITOR
RECOGNITION
The Article – Characterising Gas Engine Technology Perspectives for Energy Solutions (Aug ‘16) has reference. It should be the norm for some modicum of editorial oversight on the content of articles that are published lest they contain some substantive factual inaccuracies putting to question whether the article has any value or it is in effect an advertorial (disguised as an article) for the employer of the author.
The 2016 Sassda Columbus Stainless Steel Awards are a clear indication that the local stainless steel sector is home to a wealth of world-class products and skill.
Page 23 - Chillers - the statement that electric chillers have a COP of 2,5 is substantively inaccurate and underscores either the author’s lack of knowledge of modern design chillers or the intention of skewing the outcome toward a specific result. Modern screw chillers have COPs of over 6,0, centrifugal chillers have COPs of over 6,5-7,0 and centrifugal chillers coupled with permanent magnet motors on magnetic bearings (Turbocor) can achieve COPs as high as 10,5-11,00 at part load. This is technology widely used and commonly available.
