The President’s Page I would like to welcome you to The Bradford Catholic Players production of "Anything Goes",at this wonderful arena of entertainment,The Alhambra Theatre. A special welcome goes to those of you who are supporting us for the first time,I hope you enjoy our production and return to support us for many years to come. It is a very proud moment for me as president of this wonderful society to be able to communicate with you in this way. As a member of The Bradford Catholic Players for the past 40 years,I have taken many roles within the society both on stage and off, indeed two further generations of my family have been, and still are, involved in shows spanning 16 years. The people you will see on stage this evening have worked tirelessly for 6 months to ensure that the production you see is "The Top". On stage, backstage, musicians, and the production team all contribute to what you see before you. One of our aims is to raise money to distribute amongst local charities, and to this end we are very grateful for the support you give us.

Act 1
The story of
Scene 1 The story is set on board the S.S. American as it sails from New York to England in the early 1930's. It carries an unusual group of passengers. Included amongst them is Moonface Martin,a gruff but lovable gangster who is wanted by the police,a wealthy debutante Hope, and her mother Evangeline Harcourt, who is mainly concerned with social status and money. She wants Hope to marry a rich man. On board also is nightclub singer Reno Sweeney,a wealthy New York businessman Elisha Whitney, and his stowaway assistant Billy Crocker. It transpires that Hope is Billy's long-lost love. Unfortunately, she is now engaged to a wealthy Englishman, Lord Evelyn Oakleigh. Bonnie Latour,Moonface Martins attractive but not very bright girlfriend, and two mischievous Chinese card players, all contribute to a series of humorous and very entertaining happenings during which,Billy manages to win back Hope.Meanwhile,Billy's friend Reno seduces and wins Lord Evelyn. All this happens as Hope's mother Evangeline strives to maintain her social status and Moonface attempts to evade capture by the police.
