Delegate Info Pack 1. Location & Venue Nestled within an area of outstanding beauty 23 miles south of Edinburgh, the Borders town of Peebles sits on the majestic River Tweed. A Royal Burgh since 1152 and the rule of King David I, Peebles has for many years been a market town cherished by locals and visitors alike for its picturesque and unspoilt character. The town boasts a wide range of outdoors activities, fine shopping, award-winning restaurants and outstanding accommodation to suit all budgets. Peebles is also widely recognised as an arts destination town.

SKILL UP 2011 will take place at the Eastgate Theatre & Arts Centre, a centre of excellence attracting touring theatre companies, performing visual arts, dance, craft, music and cinema all year round. Public car parking is available throughout Peebles. A small fee is charged on Saturdays only.

2. Bursaries A limited number of £80 bursaries are available to Promote YT members. These will be awarded, at the discretion of Promote YT (Scotland), to those members most in need of assistance in meeting the cost of the SKILL UP fee.

Please indicate your interest in section B of the Booking Form and we will send you a bursary application form.

The application deadline is Friday 11th February 2011.

3. Travel Location Map. *Please note that Peebles does not have a train station nor is it accessible by public bus from Glasgow.

By Coach: For information on public bus/coach routes and timetables please visit www.travelinescotland.com If there is enough demand, we propose to put on a SKILL UP coach from Glasgow to Peebles via Edinburgh.

The return fare would be £20 from Glasgow and £10 from Edinburgh and the approximate timetable would be: Fri 25th March: dep. Glasgow @ 3pm Sun 27th March: dep. Peebles @ 4.15pm

By Car: From Edinburgh (Approx. 23 miles) Follow the A701 / A703 to Peebles via Penicuik and Leadburn.

From Glasgow (Approx. 55 miles) Follow the M8 east, exit Jct. 6, follow A73 Carluke, A721 and A72 Peebles.

From the South (Approx. 38 miles from M74 Jct. 15) Follow the M6 / M74 north, exit Jct. 15 BEATTOCK, follow A701 Edinburgh, B712 Stobo and A72 Peebles.

4. Accommodation *We strongly advise booking accommodation early to avoid disappointment.

We have teamed up with the Peebles Hydro Hotel to offer SKILL UP delegates a fantastic deal on accommodation booked before Friday 21st January 2011 (N.B. payment can be made after this date).

Please be aware that although room rates are slightly higher than in some previous years, Peebles Hydro is an exclusive 4* spa hotel which we have chosen for its capacity and convenient location only ½ a mile from the Eastgate Arts Centre. Rates listed below include full use of all leisure facilities.
