What do you do when the man you love betrays you, cheats on you, lies to you, physically abuses you, and pretends God personally told him the both of you belong together, despite all of the emotional abuse he’s put you through? Trice, was raised in a spiritual home and had accepted God into her life at an early age. As a teenager, she finds herself making decisions based on her hormones and not the smarts the good Lord had blessed her with. In doing so, she slowly realizes later on in life that he is not the man she thought he would be. But instead of walking away Trice decides to stick around, although all the warning signs have pointed her in the opposite direction. Hard-headed Trice later becomes trapped in lust and curiosity, which ends her in a relationship full of emotional abuse. Her parents have warned her and God himself has shown her visions of a not so happy ending with Chris. In the end, she will receive a shock that not even the readers can digest without wanting to know what’s going to happen next.

Sharon just might find herself in a situation she may or may not be able to get out of. With physical fights and other confrontations, will Sharon decide to surrender herself to the Lord to end the embarrassment and pain life has issued? Or perhaps she’ll seek out revenge and destruct everything that crosses her path. Tracy appears to be quiet and easy going, but behind all of that she is something else. She can make a romance book her actual life if she wants. Through all of that, the perfect Tracy grows up and marries who appears to be her prince charming. Others see Tracy as a successful career driven wife and mother, something she portrays to be, but in reality she’s just another victim… Purchase your copy of The Hurting Women Today @ www.ladyvbooks.com

GREGORY TURNER In all of our sufferings, it is not about us at all. Suffering, in its purest form, was designed to help others; to teach them life lessons about not only themselves, but also the power of the potential they possess within them. We were created for one another. It was designed that way. Suffering is not prejudiced or discerning. No nationality or race, gender, religion or geographic location is immune to its touch. I have discovered that one of the most important reasons of suffering is that it knows no age limit. Around the age of six or seven, Suffering introduced himself to me personally. He knew my name and stopped by for a visit with my family and me. He only stopped by for a short visit; however, my family was affected for a longtime afterward, by the presence of this unexpected, unwelcome, "houseguest". I recall that time, as though it happened yesterday. I remember that my older brother, Ricky was only fourteen and had gone hunting with our cousin of the same age. I remember commotion, confusion and craziness. I remember soul shaking pain and an ache to understand the "why" of what had happened. I remember how my family was beside itself with disbelief, grief and sadness. I remember the guilt and self blame that my cousin felt. I remember

the moment that my world crashed in loud, screaming silence all around me. I remember when my older brother, Ricky was accidentally shot and killed, while hunting. Ricky was popular. The whole community was shaken by what happened; it affected all the schools and neighborhoods, because he was known and loved by so many people. So many lives were touched and changed forever by ONE LIFE. One person influenced the lives in the world around him just by living his own. Even now, when I return to my hometown for a visit, people recognize me because they knew Ricky. We live our lives, but in doing that, we still affect others in ways that we never realize. Part of our purpose in life is to help others. This is what true positive mentoring entails. Through our own trials and tribulations, we bring hope, strength and opportunity for personal growth to others. During the aftermath of Ricky's accidental death, it was at this point that Suffering waltzed back into my life, bringing with him Dreams. Suffering stuck around for a while and taught me about Dreams. I soon learned that Dreams and Suffering were inseparable. It is nearly impossible to have one without accompanying the other. They work as a team, one balancing out the other. Walk a path with Dreams long enough, and you will run into Suffering. Travel with suffering long enough, and you will seek to find Dreams to help

lighten the load of the pain introduced by Suffering. As a young boy, dealing with the reality of losing Ricky, I found this last statement to be especially true for me. My parents went through much pain and personal heartache. My dad moaned himself to sleep, when he allowed himself sleep. I saw my mom walk through the house with tissue in her hands daily. I often heard them talking to each other about things late into the night, trying to deal with the reality of what had occurred. Even at that young age, I knew that I did not want to do anything to add to the pain of what they were going through. Therefore, I dealt with everything inside. Anything that I had on my plate, I dealt with, myself. It was during this time that Suffering began to teach me about Dreams. I learned also to lean on and talk with God. I stayed much to myself, allowing suffering to bring me his lessons about Dreams. I would listen to music and Dream would come and sit with me. He was always so big in comparison to me. Dream was always big, and he helped me to escape the pain of everything that I saw and heard daily. I would sit with Dream for hours and I could see myself doing anything that I wanted. I learned to feel again while Dream was there. He introduced me to his best friend, Desire. Desire brought with her lessons on the importance of being able to feel Dream and smell Dream when suffering came lurking PROMOTING PURPOSE MAGAZINE

around. In doing this, I learned that feeling and smelling Dream, the act of becoming so intensely in tune with Dream, while suffering was around, made me hurt less and less. I began to heal because of following Dream around. I learned more about Desire and was hungry to explore just how "big" Dream could grow. When he was around, I could create any world that I wanted to live in. I would escape to that world anytime I wanted. I could smell, taste, see and feel like never before. I could travel anywhere I wanted. I could do all things. That is when I knew that I was different. I could sit in my room and lose time. I could sit and listen to music with Dream for hours and not know it. Because of doing this, I expected things to be that way all the time. I expected that others could see and know Dream the way that I did. They didn't. Others did not know about how Dream was, and thought that he was small or did not exist at all. They always had something negative to say about him, saying that spending so much time with him was a waste of my time. However, I knew better. Therefore, I had to do everything on my own. And boy was that painful. At home, I was told you could grow up to be and do what you want, and because I had spent so much time with Dream and Desire, I believed this. My teachers saw differently. They tried to put limits on

me, telling me that Dream and Desire were unnecessary and that they knew what I could or could not be. I could not handle that at all. So I went into a shell, spending more and more time with Dream and Desire. Learning why they were vital, learning why they are essential. As time progressed, all three of us grew larger. We grew up together. In learning to deal with what happened with Ricky, I learned so much more about myself. Dream and Desire became a part of me and are with me to this day. I see less and less of Suffering. He comes around occasionally to let me know that he is still alive and well, but since I have spent my life with Dream and Desire, Suffering's presence doesn't bother me as much as it once did.

taught me the value of living a life that matters, with the time that we have been given. He mentored me in ways that I will always be grateful for: he lived his life as though it mattered, because it did matter. The brevity of life proves the importance of how vital it is that we make a positive difference in the lives we meet. Our dates of birth and death are beyond our human control. However, we are stewards of the time that we are granted for the "-" in between those dates. How will you spend yours? Who or what will you spend yours on? Your mind-set, determination, presence of positive mentors, and the capacity to have dreams and Desire in your life will decide what you see as being essential or expendable. Dream and Desire taught me that!

Because of this trio, and the positive parenting I received, I was able to develop the foundation for bigger things to come into my life. Ricky's death

You are Fearfully and Wonderfully Made. In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth (Genesis1:1). By God's spoken word, all things were created. On the 6th day of creation God created man. Unlike all other creations that he simply spoke into existence, he formed man from the dust, breathed life into him, thereby making him a living soul. Ephesians1:4-7:11says “he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, having predestined us in whom we have redemption through his blood. In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestined according to the purpose of him." Before God said "let there be" he had pre-determined us for he knew we each would be created for a purpose. That purpose is to be in proper relationship with our Lord and Savior, to reach out to lost souls, and to operate in the ministry gifts that he has given. How can I fulfill my purpose of being in proper relationship with God one may ask? In order to answer that question we must take on the name of Christ through his death (repentance), burial (baptism in Jesus name), and resurrection (receiving the holy ghost)-Acts2:38. Being a good person or doing good deeds can't bring salvation to our souls, we must be born again (John3:3-7)! Our walk with Christ doesn't stop there we are to grow in him so that we may bear fruit. The Fruit of the Spirit love, peace, faith, longsuffering, temperance, etc is to become a part of who we are as Christians (Galatians5:22-23). Once we begin to mature in him we can fulfill our second purpose which is reaching out to the lost. Before Jesus ascended back to heaven, he gave his apostles (disciples) a great commission "go ye therefore" (Matthew28:19). God had given them the necessary tools needed for evangelism, now it was time for them to bring others into the body of Christ. Do you have to be a bible scholar to win souls? No! Do you have to be saved for 20 years before you can qualify? No! Is this command only for Pastors, Apostles and Evangelist? No! When God created us he gave us a mouth to speak. Now that you have received salvation you can tell others how God saved you from your sins, redeemed you and made you a new person. Our testimony is one of the greatest evangelism tools! You have come to the place where you have grown in your walk with Christ but still may be wondering "Why am I here?" "What does God want me to do?" This is where prayer, fasting and reading his word come in. By doing these things God will reveal to you exactly what you’re calling or ministry is. Each person within the body of Christ has a specific job to perform. Some are Pastors, Teachers, Prophets, and Apostles. But do not fret or feel worthless if these aren't your ministries. You can be a Youth Leader, prayer warrior, a choir member, musician, a door keeper, or even a greeter! Whatever you’re calling is remember that we are all one body and each part is vitally important. The gifts that are given to us from God were never intended for us just to sit down on them but to operate in them in order to be a blessing to others. [ Read Romans 12:4-13, 1Corinthians 12:4-17;28-31, Ephesians 4:11-13]

WheGod created us he created unique and glorious beings that were formed in his image. We have been fearfully and wonderfully made in order to be in proper relationship with Christ, to reach out to the lost, and to operate in the ministries that he has given unto us. No other creation has been given such a great and wonderful opportunity. Praise God that he chose you before the foundation of the world to do his will. Peace and Blessings :Rachel Moore

PPM: Tell us Sherell where are you from? Sherell: I was born and raised in Jacksonville, FL-The Sunshine State!

PPM: What inspired the creation of your national association, Great Women of God Abroad? Sherell: I participated in a corporate fasting experience back in October 2009 and the morning after, as I sat getting dressed in a matter of minutes, God gave me the insight and vision for Great Women of God Abroad. When I say the insight, I mean the concept, the name, how the organization would serve others and who. I remember questioning the Lord, “why women in leadership” and He gently responded, “Why not them…you know their need(s) and how to serve them best”. I started almost immediately putting things together, not knowing the “how” in many instances, but as I stayed obedient to this and kept the faith, he brought the answers abundantly. PPM: You have written and are preparing to publish a book series called, "Chronicles of A Broken Spirit". Is there a specific message you want your readers to grasp? Sherell: Actually, I am sharing periods and pieces of my life through some diary/journal entries and how my relationship with Christ evolved during those different times. I wrote about marriage/divorce, parenthood, career(s) and self identity, but my specific message is that through all these things in life, goodness still exits, growth is beneficial and God’s grace and mercy is sufficient. We just need to believe… PPM: You are a business owner of a transportation company, a founder of a national association, spend a lot of time on social media venues, other businesses related activities and a single parent of twins, but what do you enjoy doing as an individual when you are away from business? Sherell: I love to travel leisurely, read, spend time with my children and family and maintain my relationship with Christ. PPM: Do you have anything specific that you want to say to our readers? Sherell: Yes, actually in two words…HOPE & FAITH! I came from a tough, rigid background, was a teen parent, raised by relatives instead of my parents, degraded by many, disrespected, talked about, ridiculed but God kept my mind and existence through it all. When He has a plan and His hand is upon your life, know that greatness is ahead. PROMOTING PURPOSE MAGAZINE

A PRIVATE SCHOOL MAKING A DIFFERENCE

Michele has a genuine love and concern for people especially children. The origin of Bland’s Faith Academy was an initial interest in teaching and a love for children by Michele. Michele, along with her husband, desired for their first daughter to be challenged academically and spiritually in her learning. After several attempts, they were unsuccessful in convincing the public school system to challenge their daughter academically. This led to a desire to home school. After lots of research and fervent prayer, Michele knew that her degree would allow her to teach school in a private settings; thus, birthing her passion, Bland’s Faith Academy. Michele’s struggles in life are a testimony to what God can do and that his plans for our lives are “his perfect will”. Each and every day, she realizes that her struggles were not just for her, but for each person’s life that she encounters. The mission PROMOTING PURPOSE MAGAZINE

I’m Just Saying People love to preface a sentence, with “I’m just saying”. It seems that people even have the nerve to say this at the most inopportune time! I’m just saying co notates “I told you so”, “You should have listened to me”, “Why did you do that anyway” or maybe even “That was stupid”. It is a slogan that really gets the listener on the receiving end on the edge and angry. When I think of this slogan I think about Job’s ignorant friends and stupid wife! Job’s friends had the audacity to sit around for seven full days looking crazy at each other and at Job and then finally accusing him of doing something wrong. I can hear them saying “I’m just saying you must have done something to cause this wrath to come on you at this magnitude, but I’m just saying.” Job got so frustrated with all of their foolish talk and told them, “Don't talk like a fool! If we accept blessings from God, we must accept trouble as well." Despite all that happened, Job never once said anything against God, because he knew in his heart of hearts that God had his back. Job was unable to see the forest for the trees because he was having a valley experience, and he recognized this. When you are in the valley you don’t know what’s going on or in the works outside of that valley. However, he was not content on pitching a tent and staying in that valley. Job placed his trust in God and only God because that was all he knew to do at that particular juncture in his life, and on that he stood; in trust, faith, hope, and believing in what he could not see PROMOTING PURPOSE MAGAZINE

with his own eyes or come to a conclusion with his own mind was not his final destiny in life. We must be mindful of the people we bring into our circle, our space, and lives because they love to share and actually invite themselves to be a part of your life when things are well, but when things start making a turn for the worst there they stand with these words, “I’m just saying”. Sometimes we need to take that “I’m just saying” that is coming out of the mouths of other people into your life and rebuke it! Remove yourself from their presence, and tell them to get to stepping. This is what Job told his shallow wife and friends to do.

I’m just saying gets tired and old real fast when you are experiencing these valleys in our life. We must take note of the situation, pray, wait on God to move, and be patient that He has already worked out the kinks in this thing called life. You see a test is between you and God, while a trial is for everyone to see how you will react and respond in these valley experiences. When you are in the valley, don’t be still and set up a tent to stay there! These valley experiences test us, try us, give us more faith, and teach us to believe in God and not man. So, I’m just saying when you are in that valley take heed and note because you are being tested as you go through the trials in this life. You can remain there with those ignorant, unfaithful, unbelieving folks if you want—and you will be there for a long 29

while. The other option is to never give up hope or faith and believe God always has your best interested at heart because He has called you His Beloved, and even engraved your name in the palm of his hand to remind Him of how much He loves you. So, remove yourself from those in your life who speak doom and gloom, just like Job’s close friends and family just like those who are doing the same in your life. God can provide you with new friends, new experiences, and a new life as you come out

Paulette Harper is a woman of purpose, passion and power. Paulette seeks to inspire women from all walks of life. Paulette is an inspirational and motivational speaker. Combining enthusiasm with an energetic speaking style, audiences describe Paulette’s presentation as inspiriting, enriching and encouraging. She is committed to speaking a message that is always uplifting and edifying. Ms. Harper deals with topics such as, but not limited to, restoration, singleness, and life after divorce, which are always from a Christian viewpoint. A woman of destiny, Paulette has accepted the call from God and established herself as a best seller, award winning author. Paulette’s writing career begins in 2007 with her first published book “That Was Then, This Is Now” which achieved national recognition by being awarded a finalist in the 2009 Next Generation Indie Book Award. “Victorious Living for Women” (an anthology) is her second book; which features 40 incredible women who share stories of their life experiences, from their heart to yours. victorious. Paulette’s third book “Completely Whole” will be released in 2010, and she will be taking part in another anthology from Victorious Living entitled “Victorious Living for Moms”. When asked about her decision to become an author, Paulette shares that “I believe it was a decision that God made for me”. Actually, becoming an author was far from what I envisioned for my life. I didn’t wake up one day saying “I’m going to be author nor did I grow up with the desire to write.” In addition to being inspired by God, it was through my personal experiences in life, which drew me into this profession. In my writing I found a source of therapy. As I wrote my first book “That Was Then, This Is Now,” I began to see how God healed and restored my life. What He did for me I felt compelled to share with others. It was at that moment that I realized that God wanted my writing to be as a ministry. The focus of my books are inspirational and encouragement. Each book can be used as pathways and guides for the readers to grow spiritually. Paulette is the visionary behind “Write Now” (releasing the word in you) literary workshops designed to coach inspiriting writers in the areas of creativity, development and publication of Christian books. God has given me a desire for writers especially those who want to write for the Lord. Through these workshops it is her desire to provide information that will help inspiring authors dream come to reality, by providing tools, resources and opportunities to help them succeed. When I begin writing in 2007, I didn’t know anyone in the writing industry to help so most of what I’ve learned has been by trial and error. I want to help those coming behind me grow in the literary field.

She's a member of: The Writer's Hut and Writers Research Center literary groups. Paulette’s motto “broken, restored and rising above all odds” came to her while facing one of her greatest challenges in life. I was under attack spiritually, emotionally, and physically. My spiritual struggle was the war going on in my mind. Trying to capture every thought that was not like Christ was an impossible task for me. The harder I fought to come out of the depression the more difficult the struggle and no one could help me. The more I cried out to God, the worse the situation I experienced. Physically, I was battling with migraine headaches like I had never experienced before. There were days in which my migraines would (literally) make me nauseous; I was unable to function or concentrate and many days I was sick and left work. The only recourse was taking pain relievers and going to bed, but to my dismay, I awake with the migraines. At this rate, I would soon be addicted to the pain relievers. I decided I must come to grips with the fact that pain relievers were only a temporary solution to a temporary problem It wasn’t enough that I was dying spiritually and emotionally, but I was assisting the devil in the process of killing me, physically.

finally realizing that my affirmation could only come from God. (From That Was Then, This Is Now) God began to rebuilt and restore my life. The confidence I once possessed begin to rise, depression dissipated and His purposes for my life became clearer. God is using my life as an agent of hope by sharing my testimony of His ability to heal and restore. I am a survivor! Paulette currently resides in Northern California. MAKEOVER: EDITION

We as women have a tendency to take care of everyone else before we take care of ourselves. However, when the season prepares to transition from spring to summer, we sometimes work to get our bodies ready to receive the new season. You know “bathing suit” ready. But I am not going to talk about losing 10 pounds, pedicures or body waxing. I want to share about having a makeover from the inside out. I have only watched a few episodes of Extreme Makeover: The Home Edition, but it has never failed that during the reveal a portion of the show when it is time to “move that bus”, I always find myself in tears. I watch the family’s reaction and think about the things this family may have gone through up until this point, or I consider the couple that is taking care of a very large family, or caring for a child with a debilitating disease. Once I have finally

gotten my composure than I start to say “wow” as the family walks through their newly outfitted home where they see all of the latest kitchen gadgets and appliances, state of the art home technology, and bedrooms designed with each family member in mind. Once everyone is finished taking the guided tour of the home, share their comments and express their gratitude the show climax starts to wind down and come to a close. Even though the show host Ty Pennington appears to be the brain behind every makeover it still takes a team of workers and sponsors that have a genuine interest in providing each family with a home. Just think of what it would be like to have your personal Extreme Makeover: The SELF Edition? At this point, in your life you may be run down and burned out. You may have been working long hours to run your business and help to bring the mission of your business into fruition. You may be

serving others through ministry or volunteerism or possibly caring for an aging parent. You may have reached the point in your life where it is time to say “move that bus!” The bus may represent anything, which stands between you, and you're destined future. The “new” home may represent the next level of your life. It is at this point in your life whom you realize you need a change. In order to get to the next dimension of your life it may be time for a makeover. Here are four areas where you may be due for an EXTREME MAKEOVER: SELF Edition

can live our dreams.” It is our fear, which holds us back from being who we are destined to be. Through empowerment, you liberate yourself from your fears. Learn how to turn that FEAR into Focused Energy for Action and Resolve. You can do it.

Renew your SPIRIT This is where you take the time to reflect on yourself and take an assessment of where you are in your life. This may require you to really take a deep look at yourself and what things you will need or no longer need to move the next phase of your life. Renewing your spirit is a great way to prevent yourself from being burned out. It also allows you to create new space for better opportunities, growth and personal development. Make room for those new experiences by using this time of renewal to create new thoughts, ideas and concepts to emerge transformed.

FOCUS on your Purpose When working on your purpose you should have “laser focus”. Your focus should be narrowed and concentrated. When people interact with you, it is your life purpose, they should be introduced to by our words and actions. Your life purpose - the very thing you were created to do is that which is embedded in your DNA, brings you passion, challenges you to maximize your full potential and positions you to live a victorious and purposeful life.

EMPOWER Yourself One of the greatest motivational speakers of our time has been quoted as saying, “When you face your fear, most of the time you will discover that it was not really such a big threat after all. Paulette Harper; Completely Whole

Completely whole yet another must read novel, Paulette has expressed and shared the teaching in which she received revelation on to share with others. The part I enjoyed the most obviously the whole book. However, the part about No Easy Way Out stuck out to me. I understood exactly what Paulette was talking about and agree at times as children of God, we want an easy life. We don’t want to go through

chapter Paulette shares scriptures and breaks it down in which the readers may understand what it is she is getting at. She then shows her transparency by talking about her very own life and the things she has gone through during certain stages of her life. This book is a good example of showing that even as children of God, we are going to go through things that have the potential to try and tear us done. Paulette stated in her work “that if you continue thinking about past failures and letdowns, it will certainly show in your approach to the uncertainties of life.” Nevertheless, the faith and trust of God will overcome all of that in which we know God is the only one that can make us Completely Whole. ARNITA FIELDS America’s Change (A Poetic View)

America’s Change A Poetic View is a spiritual poetry book in which it embraces the changes that’s occurring both physical and spiritual. At times we get into a comfortable zone in which we may fall into a comma and stay there, until we are shaken with changes. At times because we don’t understand what is going on, we see change as the possible enemy. Change does not have to be one’s enemy. It could be that God himself wants you to change the route you’ve been taking in order to complete and fulfill the purpose that had been placed inside of. There are so many poems in Arnita book that touches and connects with its reader, whether you are a spiritual person or not. This book gives those who are not spiritual a tool in which would make one think more about their life and its values. I feel as though Mrs. Anita book should and needs to be sent to the president for the fact it uplifts his position,

encourages and inspires. She mentioned that this book was birthed in her spirit before the election, but it speaks in reference to the election and the nation’s first African American President in who promoted Change the whole time he ran. She speaks back and forth on the physical change in which she at times referred to America. And then she goes over to the spiritual part in which refers to ones spirit, soul or mind. Mrs. Arnita has written several poetry books in which I’m now interested in reading knowing that what she speaks about not only is for reading purposes but some speak out in the prophetic realm. I commend Mrs. Arnita on her many accomplishments and look forward to keeping up with her next and many more projects to come.
