Greetings Readers, Once again, thank you for your love and support. Promoting Purpose Magazine first issue was a success. We have only been out for one month now and already have over a thousand readers. God is good and as always when he makes a promise and gives you something to do. Do it because God has already made a clear path for you to walk through. I first announced that Promoting Purpose Magazine was going to be a bi-monthly magazine. However, due to so many purposes out there that need to be promoted, we are making it a monthly magazine. This issue is for October and inside, we have talented, anointed, and gifted people featured inside. There‟s so many creativity that‟s being released and a lot more soon to come. I want everyone to continue to spread the news about Promoting Purpose Magazine. Tell a family member, friend, neighbor, and, etc. about the works God has created. I want to thank God for choosing me to do such a task as starting in an online magazine in his name. There are so much other wonderful magazines out, but he saw the potential and knows that Promoting Purpose Magazine offers something different and unique. I also thank God for the writers, for their anointed articles and for allowing God to use them in each issue to reach his people. This is what this magazine is about, not only are we giving spiritual tools to those who desire it. But we are also allowing the world to see the works God has and is doing in his people life. As I always stated we have been curled up in a corner for too long. It‟s time to stand up and show everyone just how big our God is. I also would like to thank my husband Felix Valdezloqui for his love and support. He has stood beside me since the beginning of Promoting Purpose Magazine. He has encouraged me to continue and give my all and best in making sure my purpose is accomplished with the magazine. And of course my children who run around while I‟m working; I thank them for the sacrifice they make by allowing me to do such. With all that being said thank you and continue to be a subscriber of Promoting Purpose Magazine. Thank you and God bless, Sherrell Straker-Valdezloqui CEO of Promoting Purpose Magazine

In The Eyes of Abuse It’s always easier said than done when it comes to hard life decisions. At times we are guilty of telling others what they should or shouldn’t do with their lives. Or what we would do if we were in their situation. This especially goes for those that are in an abusive relationship one of the most frowned upon situation in society today. Both Physical, and Emotional abuse is internationally known problems that don’t discriminate on gender, race, age or cultural. Statistics use to imply that the victims of an abuser are just those with low self-esteems that want to be liked or loved by any means necessary. In reality, as stated above there are no discriminations. It doesn’t matter your race, gender, age or culture. (Anyone can be an abused victim). We have often read in newspapers or seen on television, victims in an abusive relationship. Their endings most often result in serious injuries or scars both physically and emotionally or even death. Most victims you will most likely hear being abused are females. There are males being abused as well, but only a handful would or will actually come out in the open and say they are or have been abused. This may be due to their pride as well as the fear of being embarrassed or humiliated by others. Society believes a man should be strong and able to defend himself. Because of that most men know they would probably be talked about or called any and everything except for a real man. Some Characteristics: Abusers are very observing as to how open or fragile the person they are interested in may be. They can tell rather or not you have a high self esteem or low self esteem based on the compliments they give and how you receive them (Your Action or Response). 8
At times they will slip up and make mistakes, but if they see their partner is easy going or making excuses for their action or mistakes all the time. He/ She may show their true colors sooner. An abuser will try to strip whatever power or authority there victims may have inside. You can be a strong minded person professionally, but just like any normal person you want to be loved and protected. An abuser will show that side that they can love and protect you by any means necessary. You can also have a good head on your shoulder and say you will never fall victim of being abused. However, the charms of a person can take your breath away making you fall head over heels in love. Your heart is a powerful weapon and if not handled with care can land you being an abused victim without notice. An abuser tries to brain wash their victim into believing being beaten on is out of love, and no one else would or could love you the way they can. What does an abuser get out of abusing someone? It gives them power and control over another human being. They feed off watching their victims do whatever, they say when or where they say it. The ability to degrade someone and watching the fear
gives them a high, making them feel as though they are God. In reality he /she themselves are weaker than the ones they abuse. How does one end up in an abusive relationship to begin with? It is hard to tell right off the bat whether one is an abuser or not, unless you know their past. However, there can be some early indications of a potential abuser. No one shows their true color when they first start off in a relationship. In fact, one tends to show the nicest and sweetest side to those they are interested in. They show they are nice and filled with lots of love and affection. The things that most want in a relationship, to be the center of attention. The Abuser may wine and dine the one they're interested in with gifts and money to persuade the other they are financially stable and able to take care of him or her. At times they will do things to show how strong or defensive they are over their possessions. Making one feel protected and secure as if the world itself couldn’t touch or harm them. However, soon all the affection and security can become obsessive. The defense can now be turned against ones family or friends in which he or she will make their victim isolate themselves from any group activities or outside conversations. So how is it that many victims in an abusive relationship, tend to stay in their situation knowing that the result could end in serious injuries or even death? One that is abused becomes a prisoner both mentally and physically. The mind becomes a prison by indicating to the victim if he or she leaves or tells anyone they could be harmed or killed. For a woman if she has children she is often
9
threatened by her abuser believing if she leaves her children will be harmed or taken away from her. And for those that have no relatives or friends they feel as if they have nowhere else to go, and so they stay where they believe is the only shelter they have. All of which was put in their mind by their abusers gradually until it seems to be a reality in one’s mind. Example: When we were little what frighten us more than anything? Our imagination made us to believe there is a monster in our room somewhere. Rather it was under our bed or in our closet. No matter how many times our parents tried to tell us there was no monster we actually believed they were and that was our mind frame. As soon as we went to bed the first thing we did was pulled the covers all the way over us and laid in a fetal position for security hoping that big bad monster wouldn’t pull the cover away from us. That was reality to us although others thought it was crazy. A person who is being abused starts to adjust to that type of life and can’t think of any other alternative, although from the view of others it seems easy or plenty of ways to get out of an abusive relationship. So why someone who is being abused can’t just get up and leave when others try to help them leave? It is never a good idea to force someone to leave an abusive situation, unless they themselves are ready to leave. You can make matters worse if the person is not willing to leave on their own. And in some cases the one being abuse sometimes run back to his or her abuser because of the state of mind they may be in. To frighten to leave, victims become immune to being beaten. Victims become immune to their lifestyle and accept how they are living, even if it means living in fear. Fear can paralyze you, leaving you in a dimension that’s hard to come out of.
Here are a few things that can indicate someone is being abused by their partners:
They become isolated from family and friends. Physical bruises in multiple areas of the body. Appearance change (Dress habits change) Personality change Low self-esteem Making excuses for their partner behavior. You witness their partners verbally abusing or insulting them trying to degrade. If I see these changes in someone what should I do?
As a family, acquainted or friend you should wait for that person to want to leave the relationship. Never try to force someone to leave an abusive relationship you could put yourself as well as the victim in more danger. Physically once a victim decides enough is enough preparations, and steps should be taken to ensure the safe removal of the victim being abused. Locate your nearest shelter for the Abused and Battered for information on how to follow the steps and preparation. Spiritually; one can only pray and ask God to open the victim eyes as well as free their minds. To deliver them and guiding them to get the proper help needed for their situation. Although, some would want nothing more, then to see the abuser pay for the pain, they cause others. One should pray that God would deliver them from the mentality of hurting others both physically and emotionally. As we have heard plenty of times before: LET GO and LET GOD! Prologue (Ten years ago) I arrived at the clinic a shivering mess. I never imagined I’d feel so alone. Ahmad was supposed to meet me there at ten o’clock, to hold my hand, even though he had never held my hands before, to talk me out of it. Ahmad was supposed to marry me and make this thing right, make this problem disappear. In my mind there was never anything fancy, just us and a judge, covering this mistake with eternal vows. It had already been at least three months, and he hadn’t even asked. The sky bulged with dark, angry looking clouds, clouds that threatened to explode in magnificent fury. I imagined that it was God’s way of expressing His disapproval. As if disapproval was a strong enough word for what God must’ve been feeling toward me. It had rained all morning as if the heavens had opened up and my clothes were soaked, but not because I didn’t have an umbrella. Oh, I had an umbrella ticked away neatly in my little canvas backpack. Believe it or not I wanted to walk in the rain and be cleansed. I wanted to feel the drops one by one chastising me. To me the rain was a kind of baptism for the sin I was about to commit. I waited an hour before I snuck inside the building, trying to reason away what was already dying inside of me. A solitary tear fell from my eye, and it meant nothing because nothing was all there was left. I glanced down at the watch on my wrist, knowing that he had missed the deadline. It was finally clear that Ahmad wasn’t coming; that he had made his choice. Unfortunately, here beneath the open sky and the eyes of God, I had to make mine. www.AsheaGoldson.com

The truth is we loved each other a long time ago and there is no way to get back what we once had. At one point in my life I would do whatever you asked, I would go where ever you said go, I would hang onto your every word, and wait for you…longing for our next appointment with destiny…You would never miss a beat always saying the right thing when it needed to be said, always giving me what I wanted, always being there when I felt no one else was there for me…I pushed all my family and friends away so you could occupy every free moment in my life…I loved you, I depended on you alone, I waited in anticipation for you…what would our next thrill be and what would we do next to give me an adrenaline rush, I would sit on the porch looking down the street for your car to come along. I would watch my phone for your number to appear so I could hear your voice. I would check my computer for your messages and check the mail for just a simple letter. But today, I look back on how I adored you and wonder was it adoration or simply stupidity on my part…You tricked me so many times….Your lies were like the words to my favorite love song…Your actions and touches would make me melt like an ice cube…You could sweep me off my feet with the I‟m sorry, and please forgive this and that and I would accept it because I loved and missed you…and I would fall head over heels for it each time, not knowing I was being literally pulled in to a dark hole with everything I accepted and believed from and about you…. 12
So I stand here in this deep dark hole where you‟ve placed me while you prey on your next innocent and clueless victim…Here I stand, just me and darkness and I am looking up for the light that will guide me back to the only One who called and considered me His beloved. I stand here alone thinking what have I done and how did I allow these tricks and lies to bring me to a hole for me to die a slow death all alone…but I began to call out to my Adonai (my God who is the Master of my life), El Shaddai (you are sufficient), El Roi (you see everything), My God My God you are the comforter of my soul, you are the only One who can wrap me in your wings so that not even my feet are harmed or hurt the enemy…I cry out with a wail that I‟ve never heard come out of belly before this day at this moment in time….I wail because I realize I‟ve been bamboozled by the Master of Lies, Satan himself….he fed my flesh, brainwashed my thinking, and kept me running in circles so I would not understand or even recognize his plan of trying to take my life for his own…But what Satan failed to realize is, God planted a seed in my soul that could never be removed when I accepted Him so many years ago…he thought he could woo me, trick me, and leave me in a hole to suffer in silence…Satan did not know God already had a
plan in place and a dance with destiny for my soul…Satan can trick you and lure you, but Jesus has already paid the ultimate price for you to belong to our Father if we would only accept Him…God takes even those of us who have hit our bottom who are looking up for the light… You see my dance with destiny was my choice, but as I laid in that hole waling from the deepest place in my belly God heard my cry, and told me My Beloved I love you, I‟ve never forgotten you and I knew you would come back to me as He held His arms out to embrace this wounded and broken soul….no longer confused but now I have a better understanding of unconditional love…God wants me no matter how I look or what I have to offer; whereas, Satan used my weaknesses to lure me into his traps….I thank God for taking me back and loving me with no conditions attached, and His forgiveness, huh He throws all my shortcomings into the sea of forgetfulness….Yes God rescued me from that hole and He has never stopped loving me in and through all of my foolishness…He was only waiting on me to come to myself and realize no one or thing can ever love me like He can…Now I realize and recognize and I am very weary of those who come into my life….I ask God, should I allow this person into my space, my life, and my secret place….Now I wait for God to let me know who is good for me and who is not. The truth Satan is we loved each other a long time ago and there is no way to get back what we once had. By Tina Kay Hughes, Author of “TKay‟s Inspirational: Walking In Your Season” www.tinakay.net

This is My Story, by Tina Kay Hughes To know me, Tina Kay, you would know that I am a multi-facade, multi-layered, and sometimes even a little complicated. I look at the world with a different set of eyes that see God’s goodness in everything all around me. Despite the doctors’ reports, x-rays, Cat scans and some days a body that is in constant turmoil; I still know in my heart that I am in this space at this particular time to make a difference in the lives of others. My plan is not always the right plan and makes me realize God planned long ago these, my days, for me. So I accept God’s grace, mercy, love, and challenges as His way of using me to the benefit of and for all of His people. “Are you living, or Are you existing?” I love this quote because over the past three years as Sickle Cell Disease has begun its attack against my body and mind, many days I feel like I am just here, existing. I think I am a type A personality, always needing order, a definitive plan, and structure. However, living with Sickle Cell there is no structure; your days are determined by your body. During my childhood, I lived like any other child—not knowing or feeling any difference between myself and other children. I played outside, participated in many sports and school activities and was an over achiever and often times found myself in positions of leadership. There were only two instances that I remember quite vividly as a child having pneumonia and receiving blood transfusions around the age of 8 years 16
old. The other time was in college, in a small town, where doctors did not know how to treat this disease. I had an awful urinary tract infection that caused me to urinate blood. The doctors sent me home to urinate overnight in a bag. By the time my mother rushed me home from college (a 2 hour drive) I needed a blood transfusion. My college days were extremely stressful and I spent many days in the University’s infirmary every quarter during finals to receive IV fluids, to avoid hospitalization. I spent 10 years working in the insurance industry as a claims adjuster. The first six years I traveled all over the country working in cities that had been damaged due to a disaster/catastrophe—I was never sick during those years except for maybe 2 times. My last 4 years, as a claims adjuster, I handled claims over the phone and did not care for the job because the stress level was extremely high— there were quotas, bad attitudes from customers and coworkers, working in a cubicle, and people came to work sick causing me to become ill because my immune system is compromised due to SC Disease. My last days as a claims adjuster, I could not carry out the basic functions of my position, so I was retired by my company as disabled.
Never in a million years would I have imagined not being able to do simple things in my life. For instance, combing my hair, cooking a meal, driving myself, washing my hair and body, feeding myself, having children, and putting on my clothing just to name a few. Life is so precious and taken for granted until something in life causes you to pause and take account of what is really important and what things or issues are really worth being mad about, fighting for, and spending way too much energy on. Every day that I wake, I have to do things based on how my body feels for the day—it could mean I stay in bed all day, stay in the house all day, or actually go and have fun. I have no control and this drives me completely insane. It irritates me when people make off hand comments like, “You don’t look sick” or “You look good are you sure you are sick.” The one thing I can control is my outward appearance and this is just a part of my personality, a need to be in control of something, and my appearance is the one thing I can control. Currently, I have bone infarcts all over my ribs, a vascular necrosis in both shoulders (where the bones are slowly deteriorating), bursitis in my hips, blood clots in my stomach, complete loss of hearing in my right ear, and to be determined if I have lupus or rheumatoid arthritis in my hands and feet. I also contracted Hepatitis C due to blood transfusions in the 80’s and early 90’s. It takes about two hours every day that I wake for my body to respond to pain medication so I am able to move out of the bed. Despite, the goings on in my body, I 17
feel many days like there is a terrorist in my body, waging war and I have no defense to stop it. I love my husband so much because he is always by my side as a best friend and whatever else he needs to be. My family and friends are always at my beck and call to do whatever is needed. Without the love of family and friends I don’t know that I could make it through some of my worst days. I’ve spent many days in the hospital. I am thankful that President Obama is calling, pushing, and putting into action a new health care plan. I worry about the ceiling on my health insurance policy, exorbitant amounts I pay for the deductible and out of pocket costs. I also worry about being dropped by my health insurance carrier because I have a chronic illness. These are the things that remain at the forefront of your mind when you are often ill. Whereas, if one has never suffered through any type of health issue or witnessed a loved one suffer, one cannot fully grasp the need for health care reform. It has taken prayer, endurance, patience, and waiting on God for me to understand (not all the time) what it is he will have me to do in this life. I’ve yielded myself to God so that I may be a vessel for His use and not my own. I journal to help my mental state; I also, create and design jewelry as a release that is therapeutic for me. My writings have been compiled into a book to help others who have any type of struggles in life. The endorphins that are released during my therapeutic hobbies help the pain to subside for just a little while. See www.tinakay.net
I have so much hope and faith that a cure will come to fruition soon for adults with Sickle Cell because a cure for children with Sickle Cell has already been discovered. They say the life expectancy for adults with Sickle Cell is approximately 40-50 years old. People living with Sickle Cell are like the forgotten few left alone to suffer in silence. There is very little attention given by the medical community to this disease. There are very few research dollars spent on SC Disease with it being a global problem. In the United States it is estimated that over 100,000 people have sickle cell disease and about 1,000 babies are born with the disease each year in America; because no true census has ever been done so no one really knows the correct numbers of those living with SCD. Sickle Cell Disease is also present in Portuguese, Spanish, French Corsicans, Sardinians, and Sicilians, mainland Italians, Greeks, Turks and Cypriots. Sickle cell disease also appears in Middle Eastern countries and Asia. This is not a disease where I did something to
contract it, I was born with this disease. My greatest fear is that I will not be able to do or see all the things in life I hope for before my life comes to an end. Not only does the African American community but the wider community remain quiet, clueless, and uneducated about SC Disease. I feel as if I have to be my own advocate, because no one else is speaking on my behalf nor is anyone going before the masses to draw attention to this disease like attention is given to other diseases. My hope is the larger community will put this disease on their radar, so healing and wholeness can begin to dwell in the lives of those with Sickle Cell. www.tinakay.net. Who Is This God That We Serve? Have you ever been in church and heard someone say ” First giving honor to God” or If it had not been for the Lord, who was on my side, I don‟t know where I would be”? These are familiar statements for church folks, which are great and wonderful things to declare. However, do you really know this God that we honor? What is his name? Do you really understand his deity? If you are curious or have any doubts about whom He is. Then read on my brothers and sisters. Seek prayer to receive a true revelation. If you have been saved for any length of time you know God as a healer, way-maker, friend, shepherd, and peace in the midst of the storm. But do you realize that this is the same God, who spoke the world into existence? Do you realize that this is the same God, who opened the Red Sea, delivered the three Hebrew boys and has provided a way of escape from hell through his shed blood on Calvary? But some of you may be thinking she doesn‟t know what she‟s talking about because God and Jesus are two different people. I assure you they are one in the same. John10:30 says that “I and my Father are One”. When Philip said, “Lord show us the Father, and it will suffice us”. The Lord responds and says “have I been so long with you that you still don‟t know who the Father is? When you see me, you see the Father” Read John14:8-11. Colossians2:810 states “that in him (not them) dwells all the fullness of the God head bodily”. There is One Lord, One Faith and One Baptism (Ephesians 4:5). God is the same God that was in the Old Testament as in the
New Testament. He is the same yesterday, today, and forevermore! Well what about Matthew 28:19 when Jesus told the disciples “go ye therefore baptizing them in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost‟? These are only titles. However, the Name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost has a name, and that name is Jesus! Notice the scripture didn‟t say the names but name- singular not plural (more than one). “At the Name of Jesus every knee should bow and every tongue should confess that Jesus is Lord” (Philippians 2:10-11). For clarity, I‟ll break it down for you. A man goes into the bank in order to cash a check. He signs his title Father because he has four children but nothing happens correct? No! He signs the title Son because that‟s what he is, still no results. As a last attempt he sign Holy Ghost because he knows that he has the power, yet nothing happens. However, it‟s only when he applies His name that the transaction can take place. The same is with us. It‟s ONLY when the Name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost, which is Jesus is applied that things are set into motion. The Name of Jesus is the only name who can heal, deliver and set free from the yokes of bondage and sin. I know what I have written today has stirred many of you but ask God for revelation. Christ has revealed himself to us through his word but I encourage each of you to pray that your eyes be opened to this Wonderful and Mighty God that we serve. Peace and Blessings Rachel Moore!

Right Package, Wrong Baggage Synopsis: For five years, Pamela Roberts, has balanced the demands of being a single mother and a devoted Christian. She unselfishly places the needs of her son, Matthew, above her own. Although she tries to convince everyone that she‟s happy with Jesus alone, Matthew handpicks the perfect present for her—a husband. Everything about the man her son chooses is perfect, except for his past. Micah Stevenson is excited when he learns the son of the woman he has been praying about wants him to join their family permanently. Believing Pamela Roberts is his soul mate sent from God, Micah pursues her. Once he is certain of her love for him, Micah reveals his dark history, shaking the foundation of the once loving and stable relationship. Trust is broken as judgments and prejudices threaten to deny the couple‟s destiny. Will the man he used to prevent Pamela from loving Micah for the man he is now?
Home Again: Stories of Restored Relationships Synopsis: Home Again: Stories of Restored Relationships is a compelling journey into the relationships that matter most: family,

friends and self. Each story is founded on natural love, but will require the Father‟s love to heal the brokenness. In the anthology, relationship is not limited to male/female romance, and „home‟ is not limited to a physical building. Home is an institution where we are loved and cared for...a place of genuine affection and security. Ironically, it can also be the source of our greatest heartaches and biggest disappointments. Travel with husbands and wives, brothers, sisters, friends and families as they maneuver through life‟s hurts and betrayals while leaning on a power greater than themselves. Wanda B. AGAPE LOVE
Can you distinguish Love from Lust in a relationship?
Many times we say to our partner “I Love You” without thinking twice about the word itself. But why do you feel you are in love? Is it because of the way they make your heart throb, whenever they are near? Is it their eyes that make you want to melt like butter whenever you look into them? I asked the question to several, what is the difference between love and lust? It didn‟t surprise me at all when the room became silent as everyone looked around thinking to themselves hoping I wouldn‟t call on them to answer. And yet there was one brave soul that said “It was hard to tell the difference, unless you know God. It will be easily confused on which one a person feels in their relationship for the reasoning that we confuse lust for love in our minds. Due to the feelings, we have at that particular moment and time.” Love is an emotion that one feels for another deeply; it‟s an attachment and affection towards a particular person. Love is neither selfish nor conceited. It's the will to sacrifice if need be. Ensuring the one you are
28
committed to is satisfied not just physically, but spiritually and mentally as well. If you know God then you know love is of God and God is love. If you do not know God it can be hard to understand the extent and in-depth of where the right love can and will take you and your partner. Love is unconditional and contributes to patients, understanding, forgiveness and sacrifices. (Are you ready to love?) Lust is just the opposite of love but one can mistake their lust for love if not careful. Lust is selfish and conceited and can make one only care about their needs being meant both emotionally and physically only. At times we lust and want the things we know we can‟t have because of the excitement. Lust will allow one to use someone only for what they have or could do for them that particular moment and time. Rather it‟s on a sexual level, financial, or you‟re just in the moment because of one‟s appearance, career, or physical possessions. i.e. (Cars, homes and, etc.).
So I ask do you feel you’re in Love or Lust? Answer the following Questions
1. Can you see yourself loving your partner with only $50.00 left in the account for two weeks until pay day? Y/N 2. Do you see yourself with your partner even with their financial struggles? Y/N/MAYBE
6. If you see your partner falling (Spiritually, Career, Financially and etc) would you try your best to encourage them, support them, contribute) or allow them to fight their own battles telling them to call you when they get it together? 7. Do you love God? Y/N
3. Can you see yourself sacrificing something you love dear for your partner? Y/N/ MAYBE
4. Are you only happy and loving when your partner takes you out or has money in the bank? Y/N/SOMETIMES 5. Are you willing to forgive and except your partner for who they are now no matter what their past may have been? i.e. Ex gang member, drug user, prostitute, fornicator, etc… The A.S.E. Foundation, Inc. is a non-profit organization designed to help others Be More, Do More and Have More. The A.S.E. Foundation, Inc. was established and incorporated in June 2008. 8. Do you love yourself? Y/N 9. Do you feel as though you can really love someone or already in love at this point of your life? Y/N

Goodness AND Mercy! Psalms 23:6a “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life!” I once heard a pastor say that God‟s goodness will give you the blessings that you don‟t deserve and His mercy will keep off of you the punishment that you do deserve! God‟s goodness is described as His bounty (prosperity, provisions and richness) to whomever He chooses to show His goodness to. In many scripture passages, we see God‟s goodness AND His mercy showing up at the same time. In 2 Samuel 11, King David has taken another man‟s wife (Bathsheba) and she conceives a child by him while her husband is away on the battle field. David then brings her husband home and tries to get him to go home and spend some time with his wife. When Uriah, her husband, doesn‟t do as David hopes he will, he then has him placed on the front line of the hottest battle to make certain that Bathsheba becomes a widow and then he can have her as his own wife. When the prophet Nathan spoke to David about his sins in 2 Samuel 12, he spoke in a parable about a rich man with many flocks taking a poor man‟s one little lamb for his own. King David becomes angry and says whoever has done this will surely die! And Nathan said, “King David, you are that man!”

Right Package WRONG BAGGAGE by WANDA B. CAMPBELL This novel was a good read Wanda did a great job on keeping the readers interested in wanting to know exactly what was the secrete or the past being hidden in this novel. There are a lot of single Christian mothers and fathers out their taking care of their children the best they can. The best thing any single parent can do just like Pamela in this novel is to wait on God to send a partner. She stayed in church and constantly seek the face of God with any questions or concerns she may have had. Because of this, God heard her prayers and sent her someone he knew would be a good husband for her and a father to her son. Wanda also showed through her writing that even the relationships God place together both parties must still put work into it. As well as being able to accept and understand one another past, moving on to a better and brighter future. God always looks at the heart of the person and always forgives for the wrong someone may have committed if they seek and ask for forgiveness. The plot was well structured. It kept my attention, as well as encouraged and inspired at the same time. I recommend this novel to everyone, especially those who are seeking a relationship. It teaches the importance of prayer and waiting on God. Good job Wanda I look forward to reading more of your novels. Reviewed by: Sherrell Straker-Valdezloqui

MY SON’S EX-WIFE THE AFTERMATH by: SHEILA E. LIPSEY Shelia releases the next book in the series of "My Son's Wife", which the first installment was a page-turning, frenzy, and on-the-edge of your seat dramatic scenes with a blow at the end of the book that leaves you waiting for this anticipated novel now. After reading the family secrets and dirt unleashing in the first series, "My Son's Ex-Wife" had a different path and opening. It shows redemption, forgiveness, and seeing your own faults (get the peak out of your own eye instead of pointing the finger at someone else). We see Pastor Stiles walk in his father's shoes and unable to fully release from his mother's apron strings until love stares him in his face, but holding on past love with Rena. Rena held guilty feelings and past mistakes such as STDs clouds her judgment when it comes to a new relationship blooming in her path with Robert. He has a history but a man who loves her regardless of her past hurts. This is a devoted, good man in her path...women seem to turn these men away even though we all have baggage. The ending was what I wanted to see for both Stiles and Rena, move forward not backwards. Francesa also sought after forgiveness and change for her life, under God's leadership and calling for her life to help others abused or not knowing their sexual preference. Step into the promise not past pains. This book made a turn for seeing spiritual maturity, confessions, and learning to let go...not drama-packed but spiritually-release of baggage to step into a new future and life.
