In order to assist clients in understanding the telecommunications industry and how the new technology is advancing, below we have summarized the significant industry news and technology changes that effect you. We have also provided links to various 3rd party articles that we feel are related and relevant to your business. Effective in January 2011, regulatory pricing limits no longer applied to California based telecommunication companies. What does this mean? The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) has allowed companies like AT&T and Verizon to raise or lower - basic phone rates whenever they choose, and are no longer required to seek approval from regulators. Since then, costs have steadily gone up. The fact is that technology advancements are making our world a digital world. For AT&T and Verizon to be able to invest in the future they need to be able to cut ties to the past (analog services). They have invested heavily in laying miles and miles of fiber optic cable and have tried to get all customers to move to one of their “bundled” plans. The latest ploy by AT&T to get customers to move from traditional analog service is to increase the prices so substantially that customers virtually have no choice. Remember this isn’t something that has happened overnight – ITS has been advising customers this was happening and offering alternatives since 2010. With that said we have more options than ever to help our customers either make the transition or stay where they are comfortable. Call ITS 805-520-7020 today to review your options.
