Join the Click It Clinic Revolution to Disrupt Healthcare With all of the changes in healthcare over the years, the medical system has become increasingly complex and fragmented, with higher demands from insurers, lower reimbursements, and high practice overhead. The result is pressure on physicians to see more patients in smaller time slots without the focused time and attention each patient deserves. At Click It Clinic, we are fighting to provide creative technology solutions for enhancing access to healthcare with a global reach. By leveraging the strength of telemedicine, we can provide healthcare to both providers and patients. In the words of Click It Clinic Founder/CEO Dr. Latisha Rowe, “As a physician, my goal is simple. I want you to live your best life. It is never too late to change! Join us in our effort to make your health a priority! Sick happens, why wait?

Latest Events and Happenings American Telemedicine Association
AMA Doctors Back To School Program
Click It Clinic participated in the 2016 American Telemedicine Association Annual Conference and Trade Show in Minneapolis. Click It Clinic CEO and Founder Dr. Latisha Rowe was selected as a panelist for spotlight session “Consumer Stakeholders Confront Telehealth”, moderated by Dr. Jay Sanders, the founder and president emeritus of ATA, commonly known as the “father of telemedicine.”
Click It Clinic cares! Click It Clinic presented at public schools in the greater Houston area the American Medical Association (AMA) Doctors Back to School (DBTS) program to inspire the next generation of minority physicians. In May, medical students and physicians across the country participated in the American Medical Association (AMA) Doctors Back to School (DBTS) program to increase the number of minority physicians and ultimately work toward eliminating racial and ethnic health disparities. The program sends minority physicians and medical students into communities as a way to introduce children to professional role models.
Dr. Rowe shared with ATA audiences how Click It Clinic uses telemedicine and Click It Clinic’s ongoing efforts to change and regulate the use of telehealth for patients. Telemedicine can alter conventional relationships between patients and healthcare providers. Technology can now be used to collect data and transmit vital signs. Patients can receive medical consultations online over the web. Key stakeholders, including consumer and patient advocacy groups, are now just starting to look at what telemedicine might mean to their constituencies. These are “critical influencers” who not only affect telemedicine with their members, but also with policymakers in setting regulatory legislation for use of telemedicine. They can be allies but most often also have important concerns that need to be addressed by providers and the industry at large to clarify what telemedicine actually means for our society in order to help make telemedicine succeed. As a leader in the industry, Dr. Rowe was able to contribute her experience in a premier forum for healthcare professionals and telemedicine entrepreneurs.
Our country grows more diverse everyday. African Americans, Hispanic Americans and Native Americans make up nearly one-quarter of the U.S. population. In 30 years, these groups are expected to make up one-third of the U.S. population. African Americans, Hispanics, Native Americans and Alaska Natives make up only 9 % of the doctors in this country. DBTS wants to inspire minority children to consider the medical field as a profession. Minority physicians are more likely to return to their communities and practice in underserved areas and provide care for minority, poor, underinsured and uninsured patients. Each DBTS visit increases awareness of the need for more minority physicians, and may inspire a young person to become a future doctor. Click It Clinic wants to show kids of all ages, especially those from underrepresented racial and ethnic groups, that medicine is an attainable career option. Good luck to our future doctors!

Could telemedicine or a concierge physician have saved Prince’s life?
Access%to%healthcare%is%critical%no%matter%what% our%station%is%in%life.%
The untimely death of Prince, gives us all reason to pause and the physician in me wonders if his life could have been saved. No, not by some heroic CPR in the elevator where he was found unresponsive but during that emergency stopover in Illinois.
No, but we can provide consultations regarding a problem, prescribe treatment and sometimes be a patient’s advocate. Prince needed one on the day that he left that hospital in Moline, Illinois. Lord knows he was a good-looking man, but he was also a man who had a hip replacement in 2010 and like most of us, had an aging body.%
Prince’s private jet allegedly stopped over in Moline, Illinois at 1:00 a.m. because Prince felt ill and was battling the “flue.” From media reports, it appears that he was hospitalized but signed out against medical advice; the hospital could not provide a private room. If Prince had a personal physician who performed “virtual” visits, also known as telemedicine, that physician might have been able to a locate hospital a nearby hospital that could provide a private room and the level of care that Prince needed. He should have been transferred to another hospital, not allowed to go home “against medical advice.” Although Prince performed onstage a few days later in Atlanta, his untimely death six days after that hospital stay speaks volumes. Prince was obviously sick. No one will argue that a man who sold over 100 million songs and had the ability to touch people’s hearts is important. That ability was a sacred gift that should have been preserved at all costs. A man of that stature should have traveled with his private physician or at least, have access to his private physician through technology. We live in an age where physicians and healthcare providers can do amazing things through technology. Take blood pressures and listen to heart sounds remotely. Obtain a history from a patient via video conferencing. Can we perform an actual physical exam? patient via video conferencing. history from a patient via video conferencing.
Access to healthcare is critical no matter what our station is in life. Prince could have easily afforded a concierge physician who he could access via telemedicine or accompany him on his jet plane. I’m going to make a bold statement: I strongly recommend that our aging icons from the Boomer Generation think outside of the box and either travel with their physicians or use telemedicine services. If Prince were my patient, there is no way he would have left that hospital until he was medically cleared to do so. I’m not going to speculate about how Prince died. His autopsy will speak for itself. I’d rather talk about how he lived and the people that he touched including me. When Prince came on the scene I was on my journey to become a physician; buried in medical school. I never had time to listen to his music. Didn’t go to any of his concerts. Arrogantly thought that he’d always be around and of course, I was wrong. Good people come into your life for a reason and a season, and then they’re gone. Prince’s phenomenal season ended much, much too soon.
