Participates at ADEX 2024
The International SeaKeepers Society Asia recently made a splash at the ADEX Ocean Festival 2024 in Singapore as both speakers and exhibitors. Celebrating its 30th anniversary, ADEX, Asia's premier International Dive Exhibition, focused on the Sustainable Blue Economy, underscoring a strong commitment to marine conservation and sustainability.
The ADEX Ocean Festival 2024 offered a vibrant platform dedicated to ocean advocacy, education, and industry innovation. With over 150 exhibitors, the festival brought together diving enthusiasts, industry leaders, and conservationists to exchange insights, brainstorm innovative solutions, and strategize on embracing ocean-conscious practices and sustainable business models.
The ADEX dive tank buzzed with excitement as spectators gathered for the finals of the ADEX Underwater Performance Competition. Alongside engaging talks, competitions, performances and the presence of tourism and dive operators and equipment manufacturers from the Asia-Pacific and beyond, attendees found countless opportunities for involvement.
Over three dynamic days, the event featured 90 speakers over 3 stages from various fields divers, photographers, conservationists, scientists, industry representatives, and performers. During the event, Asia President Julian Chang and Director of Operations & Programmes Gail Tay, along with other speakers, highlighted the theme of The Blue Economy with the message, "Together We Can Make a Difference." Julian and Gail talked about their vision of a Blue Economy emphasised by the importance of collaboration for ocean conservation. They demonstrated how individuals can support a sustainable blue economy by participating in SeaKeepers' conservation programs.
At the SeaKeepers exhibition booth, staffed by dedicated volunteers, visitors learned about the organisation's mission. Interested divers were invited to participate as citizen science divers for the upcoming Kapas Island Monitoring Expedition in May. This expedition, in partnership with Universiti Terengganu Malaysia, will conduct habitat surveys to provide crucial data for marine conservation efforts.
With a mix of inspiring talks, engaging activities, and hands-on conservation opportunities, the ADEX Ocean Festival 2024 was a powerful testament to the collective effort needed to protect our oceans.
