SALVATION CORNER Developing a JC state of mind…

Dear Loved One, I want to present to you, “The SALVATION Corner”. This corner will have short messages to inspire and educate you on the extremely fabulous gift of Salvation. This gift was created by God the Father, and accomplished through our Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ. The messages will originate by using information, and stories, from the life of Jesus. It is my desire that as you journey with me through this series, Jesus will become your best friend and Superhero just as He holds that title and so much more in my life. Let’s take a walk…

SALVATION CORNER Jesus is My Superhero Series Message 1 – The Value of HIS Love – HIS Death Wow, it’s the end of winter 2018 already; time is certainly on a mission. I believe the time has sped up for a few reasons. One reason is that it’s an answer to some prayers. Yes, we pray for acceleration, God please do it now. God is not going to change the dates on His calendar, however, HE can speed up dates by speeding up the passing of days, which causes the acceleration of TIME. Secondly, we are nearer the end times than ever before. The book of Revelation, in the Bible, describes some events that will take place, in the Earth realm, prior to Jesus returning for His Bride. I see a lot of those signs now. Which leads me to my assignment today. I want to start this series by encouraging you to get to know Jesus, who He is, and how much He loves you. I want you to have a personal relationship with Him, and enjoy the benefits of that relationship before, and after you die. Jesus did not just die as we do. No matter how tragic a death may occur, it will never be as horrible as what was done to our Lord, our wonderful Savior. Jesus was ridiculed, persecuted, slandered, betrayed, beaten to the point of not being recognized as human, hung by nails, on a cross, for hours, THEN, HE died. Thank you Jesus!!! Can you imagine what HE went through? I can’t. I get chills, and just cry each time I try to imagine it. When I finally got the courage to watch the movie “The Passion of Christ” by Mel Gibson, I had one eye open most of the time. From the betrayal by Judas to the death of Jesus was almost unbearable on a movie screen. That movie is about the closest visual demonstration that, I think, anyone has come to describing what happened to our Lord, and to think, it was worse than that. When you ask yourself, “How much does God love me?” Answer by saying, “HE died for me”. Yes, Jesus loves you to death, literally. The journey to that cross proves how much God loves us. Recently, I had my home Wi-Fi hacked, for extra security measures, I had my laptops reimaged by a local computer store. I went into the store and the usual IT Tech was not there, it was someone new, he was very young. We had a short conversation about life and careers, however, we did not speak of the afterlife. The closest we came was the mention of all of my cool Jesus screen savers, and images on the computers. Usually, I get a telephone call the same day, or the next, with a status of my computer repairs. I got busy with work and life, a week had gone by when I remembered that I had not received any communication referenced the devices, so I went to the store. I was informed that the young man died, the same night I left my devices, in a motor-cycle accident. I was stunned, he was somewhere between 18-20 years old. My first thought was, “I wonder if he knew Jesus?” One of my friends tried to comfort me by saying that seeing the photos on the computers was his message. I’m not sure about that, but it was a pinch on the arm for me. Tomorrow is not guaranteed to us. We have to ensure that, daily, we are

living a life that is pleasing to Jesus, so that when we die, we can go to live with him forever, and not be, eventually, destroyed with satan, the enemy of God. We tend to be comfortable with talking to people who already know the Jesus lango, but this encounter has changed my view of being discreet with Jesus when meeting new people in any environment. It is Jesus’ desire for all to have a chance to live with Him forever, so I’m joyfully doing my part to get the word out. I had an opportunity to redeem myself. A friend, at work, died suddenly last month. Although I was hesitant to bring up the subject of death and Jesus, I did one day. The last month of his life we prayed and spoke of Jesus every morning, so I have a peace that he is with Him now dancing and rejoicing every day!!! I urge you if you have not accepted your priceless gift, of SALVATION, from Christ Jesus, do it today – DON’T WAIT until tomorrow because you may not see it!!! Here’s a simple prayer to get you started in your new journey with Jesus. Prayer Dear Jesus, I repent of all my sins. Today, I declare that You are my Lord and Savior; I renounce all other gods and idols. I make you the Boss of my life. Thank you for dying on the cross just for me, then rising to Heaven where you pray for me daily. In Your name, Jesus, I pray. Amen. Welcome to the family of GOD!!! Pray often, read your Bible-study the life of Jesus, and allow the Holy Spirit to lead you into the assignment(s) that Jesus has for you in the Earth…Let’s take a walk…

Reflecting with dawn Reflection 1 Share the Blessings of God

God wants to bless us so that we may bless others. HE wants us to show HIS care, and concern for us. Care is Love expressed on an emotional level rather than an intellectual one. Concern is HIS love for us, so that we don’t fall into satan's lies, deceptions, and sinful ways. Share all the blessings that God shares with you. We are to show, love & mercy, compassion, God’s word, and anything else HE desires for you to share. God even wants you to share with your enemies. God only allows things to work for our greater good, even in desperate times. We must tune in so we can hear our hearts, and receive the spontaneous voice of the Sprit. Quiet yourself inwardly, so you are able to sense Gods inner movement. Open the eyes of your heart, and ask the Father to fill them with HIS dreams, visions, and love. In the Bible, the book of Matthew 19:16, Jesus tells us that with men things can be impossible, BUT with God, All Things are Possible. God has provided you the means to obtain “Happiness”. Only you can activate that Happiness in your life. My prayer today is that as you share the blessings of God with others, you will be abundantly blessed with HAPPINESS! Blessings to All, Dawn Martin

Hidden Iniquity in the Church According to bing.com a secret is defined as something that is not known or seen, or not meant to be known or seen by others. The synonyms of secret are: Hush-hush, undercover, underground, concealed, disguised, hidden. God defines it as hidden iniquity. Some people would say it’s good to keep a secret; don’t let your right hand know what your left hand is doing. Although some may think that it’s ok to keep secrets, some secrets are meant to be told. Most recently, it was in the news that a wife sent a mass text message, to the congregation, about the affair her husband was having with one of the leaders, at the church, where they both pastor. Recently, several young men came forth, with proven allegations, of a sexual relationship they had with the pastor of their church. In my book, “Totally Free”, I reveal a secret affair that I was having with my ex- pastor. These occurrences are becoming more and more frequent in our churches today, but instead of confessing our sin, we in turn hide it. We continue preaching, teaching, and serving fully aware of our guilt. Yes, sexual perversion is in the church. Some church leaders still believe that it is ok, to preach, lay hands, and hold a position in leadership knowing that they are covered in sin. How can we preach against something that we are partakers of? Many pastors, and church leaders do it because they feel they can get away with it. They know no one is going to challenge them because of their positions, people protect them. Lay members, and others don’t even want to bring it up because of the scriptures that men, who sin in this area, use. Psalm 105:15 says “Do not touch not my anointed ones; and do my prophets no harm”. But are they really Gods anointed ones if they preach one thing, and live a whole different lifestyle? Other pastors and church leaders feel that they have a right to this one sin because they obey God in all other areas. They say to themselves that God is full of grace and forgiveness, God is just so this transgression will be forgiven. This leader is deceived by his own selfish need, not realizing that there is a price to pay for the sin they have committed. The fact that they have not truly repented, keeps the door open to continue in the sin; the same sin in which they asked for forgiveness previously. Matthew 7:22 says that Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, in your name drive out demons, and in your name perform many miracles? Then I will tell them I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers! You are being deceived when you think this is only going to be a one-time affair, I won’t do it again. You may think that you have gotten away with it, when in fact, the door is left open for the enemy to whisper in your ear to do it again and again. If you have fallen into sexual perversion, all is not lost, there are steps that lead to total freedom in Christ. The first thing is to confess. Let go of the secret, because when you keep things a secret that means you are in agreement with the sin - Confess. Secondly, Repent. This means to turn away from the sin and don’t go back. The third step is to

denounce that spirit, call it by name, and tell that demon you don’t want it anymore. The fourth step is to share your testimony, so that others will be encouraged to get free as well.

Decisions For Life This has been quite a reflectful year for her. She would never have imagined that she’d be at this particular point in her life. What point is this? The point where she would be deciding where her next house of worship will be. As she reflects over her life, and not just last year, 2017, she thinks about all the decisions she’s made. Especially as it pertains to her place of worship. Twenty-four years ago, she made a life altering decision, she left the place where she first discovered the Father for real. She felt God leading her to this place so that she could find and fulfill her purpose. This place was like heaven on earth. Signs and wonders followed the preaching and teaching of the Word. She felt there was no greater teacher in the world, than this “called one”, her pastor. She had been in church all her life. She was raised as a Methodist, and her extent of knowing God and Jesus was confined to Sunday school stories such as: David and Goliath, Daniel and the lion’s den, the three Hebrew boys, and so on. Discovering God was such an exciting revelation in her life, so much so that she felt that she was already in heaven. To finally be able to understand the Bible, and how it applied to her everyday life, was a dream come true. Growing in life, through the Word of God, was the most indescribable experience on earth. From 1987, to this present time, she could tell you of many supernatural encounters. In her current house of worship, she received the call to become a minister. She was licensed, ordained and sanctioned to go and do the work of the ministry. She led various departments and brought many members, from those departments, into her house of worship. Not only was she physically invested, but financially invested as well. Believing in her leaders and following them as they followed Christ was the ultimate expression of honor. What do you do when that trust is violated? How do you come to grips with that reality? Do you blame yourself for not being able to see what was happening? For ignoring the signs? Though subtle, the signs were there. What happened? What caused this thriving ministry to get off track, and begin to worship the things, or the creature, more than the Creator? What caused a thriving ministry to become a Mega-bully? Let me tell you that this is bullying of the worst kind. What caused these leaders to treat God’s people like dirt, while appearing to be upstanding God-fearing people of God to their peers? And even sadder, their peers could not, or did not even discern this was happening. Not only was her trust violated, the leaders turned the tables, and cast the blame of the ministry’s downfall on the congregation. Could this really be happening? After being there all those years, is this what her investment and commitment yielded? A different kind of reality is now setting in, one that she never thought she’d be faced with. She was there for life, or so she thought. But now, she’s faced with another decision. Where does she go from here, spiritually and physically? Although there’s been no admission of guilt, or wrong done, there is forgiveness in her heart. She has no option but to forgive, grieve, and move on, all at the same time. She feels as though she’s lost a mother and father, even worse, it’s as if she never knew them. Everything that’s happened betrays everything she’s ever been taught in the Word of God. Her grieving process began in August 2017, and has taken some time. You don’t get over 24 years of being in one place overnight. She had to get out of denial and face the truth. She’s let it go, but is still faced with questions, “Where do I go next, what is next?” Were the 24 years a

waste? She has come to the conclusion that those years were necessary for the making of her. All those experiences, the good, bad, and ugly were necessary to help her understand, and I paraphrase: “it’s better to trust in God than man, and let God be true and every man a liar”. She guesses one of the lessons in all this is to trust that you hear from God. Don’t always discount what you see, or discern as being of the devil. God allows us to see and encounter things so that we can pray. When man’s agenda no longer lines up with the Father’s agenda, for our lives, He will give us our marching orders and say, “It’s time to go”. After all, it’s for “His Kingdom” and “His Glory”, that we even exist, Right? In closing, I want to say that the person in this account is real. No names have been included to protect the innocent and the guilty. My point in writing this is to give this person and all people like her a voice. This type of church bullying takes place more often than is spoken of. How many men and women experience this regularly and have no one but God to turn to? In “Christianity”, or “The Kingdom”, it is difficult to have a voice if you’re not a leader. Many times the leaders will only listen to, hear other leaders. From what I’ve seen, the leaders protect each other, and even though this type of behavior is widespread among some leaders, there is no restitution for those directly affected by them. It’s sad that the world has a system whereby you may bring an accusation, and at least be heard and given a chance to prove it. Sadly enough, although the Word tells us how to handle our issues among ourselves, we tend to skew that process in favor of the leaders. The congregation is wrong, or at least that was her experience. I have a feeling she is not alone. I have a feeling that in 2018, God is no longer going to chide with man regarding this. Selah! Respectfully Submitted By Minister D. R.

Leading with GOD’s Heart The introduction This series will feature articles on various spiritual and professional leadership positions. The articles will come from those who God has chosen to walk with Him in these positions. You may see a position more than once to get different views. The main gifts have a collective meaning, however, according to what an individual is called by God to accomplish, in the Earth, spiritual or natural, the gift will operate in various ways. In order for a Leader to reach those under their authority, and to be successful, they must have the heart of God. Today there is so much abuse from those who are supposed to lead, train, and inspire us for our next levels in life and ministry. Sometimes, leaders have been raised in an abusive environment so this is what they produce. Leaders may not realize that they are abusive. In this series we will be providing tools and encouragement for leaders. It is our desire that they will find a link, a book reference, or something that will assist them as they journey on their leader trail with the Lord. We pray that that this series will educate and inspire leaders to become a better leader, or enhance the good leadership skills already being demonstrated. May the Holy Spirt always be your GREATEST teacher as you strive to be the best student. May God bless all that you put your hands to as you complete your life and ministry assignments. Let’s take a walk…

Prayer + Concern + Mentorship = LOVE

A PAstor’s HeArt – The INTRO This is my understanding of what the character of a Pastor should be based on Psalm chapter 23 in the Bible. Verse 1 starts by stating that the Lord is my Shepherd and I do not want, or lack anything. The Lord is represented by a Shepherd, a Pastor. The Pastor may not be able to help you, financially, all of the time, but he, or she should want to. The Pastor should show a genuine concern for your personal issues. No matter the size of their church’s membership, they should always care about you and your needs. The Pastor’s job is to care for you. Verse 2 goes on to say that HE makes me to lie down in green pastures and leads me beside still waters”. We know that normally water is a representation of the Holy Ghost, but “still water” is a place of fruitfulness, rest, and peace. Water always brings growth. The Pastor’s job is to develop you. Verse 3 states that HE restores my soul, HE leads me into the paths of righteousness for HIS name’s sake. The Shepherd leads you to holiness and righteousness. God did not save you for yourself, but for a relationship with HIM. The tests, trials, and tribulations, of life, will discourage anyone, but God! The Shepherd should speak life to your situations. The Pastor should encourage in the ways of the Lord. The teaching of God’s word leads to a place of complete restoration. God’s word will transform your mind to the mind of Christ. Your life should reflect the original state of mankind, in the Garden of Eden, before the fall of man. Verse 4 says though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for thou art with me, thy rod and thy staff comfort me. As Believers we know that God is with us, HE will never leave, or forsake us. God sent us the gift of the Holy Ghost to be our comforter. In the same way, we should have confidence, and comfort in our Pastor. The Pastor should be continuously seeking God’s face on the behalf of the members of their local church. Prayer will show the leader how they can guide and protect their sheep. Through the word of God sheep become fearless. Verse 5 says Thou prepares a table before me in the presence of my enemies, Thou anoints my head with oil, and my cup runs over. God will elevate you in front of your enemies! Sheep are trained by the Shepherd what good behavior is, and how to love, even in the presence of their enemies, for God is love. When the sheep walk in love they honor God in truth and holiness. Preparing the sheep, through God’s word, allows them to mature in the things of God. The oil runs from the head down. Obedience will always lead to success, and your cup will run over. Overflow blessings and anointing are the result of a relationship with God and your Pastor. Finally, Verse 6 encourages us that when we follow the instruction(s) given by God, through proper leadership, surely goodness and mercy shall follow us all the days of our lives. The mature Christian’s only goal, without excuses, should be to dwell in the house of the Lord forever! Becoming a mature, perfected Christian, enables us to teach and preach the Gospel of Christ to others, sheep always begat other sheep.

Another account of the Shepherd is found in John 10:11-14. Verse 11 says, “I AM a good Shepherd. The good Shepherd gives his life for the sheep”. God will give you a Pastor after HIS heart because no one loves you more than God. HE loves you so much that HE laid down HIS life for you! Verse 12-13 says “But he that is a hireling, and not the Shepherd, who does not own the sheep, sees the wolf coming and leaves the sheep and flees, the wolf catches the sheep and scatters them. Verse 13 The hireling flees because he is a hireling and does not care about the sheep”. According to dictionary.com2018, a hireling is a person who works purely for material reward, serving for pay only. The Pastor is not a hireling. Let’s be real, your tithe don’t pay the church bills. Most Pastors have jobs, and don’t get a paycheck, or respect! Even then, a real Pastor cares, it is their job to care! A hireling cares for only himself. If your Pastor cares more about your tithes than you, and your situations, there is a problem! Verse 14 says that I Am the good Shepherd and I know my sheep, and I Am known by my own. Even if you have to make an appointment, your Pastor should always have time for you. If you don’t have a relationship with your Pastor, then you don’t have a Pastor at all!

Minister Jackie Nickerson

…But if You Return Nehemiah was a cupbearer in the Persian court. Although he was serving the king, he never forgot where he came from. True leaders of the Kingdom never forget where they come from. The values of a leader can be seen in the things that matter most to him, or her. It can also be seen in the areas where they seek opportunities to advance. Nehemiah heard that some of the men had come from Jerusalem. He asked them about the remnant who survived the exile, the report was not good. The city of Jerusalem was in disgrace. The walls were broken down, and the gates were burned with fire. It was an unfortified city, which meant that it was unprotected; the enemies of Jerusalem could come and go as they pleased. Nehemiah wept when he heard the news. Nehemiah turned to God, he confessed his sins, the sins on his household, and the sins of the people. Also, in In his prayer, Nehemiah reminded God of His word to Moses found in Nehemiah 1:8-10, “…but if you return to Me, and obey My commands, then, even if your exiled people are at the farthest horizon, I will gather them from there, and bring them to the place I have chosen as a dwelling for my Name”. Nehemiah ended his prayer with a request of the Lord, “Give your servant success, today, by granting him favor, in the presence, of this man”. After this prayer, Nehemiah went to work serving the king as his cupbearer. Sin activates scattering. Whether you may experience scattering of your family, your church, your resources, or your thought life, whenever we sin, there’s a scattering that takes place. Because of Jerusalem’s sins, God allowed their enemies to overtake them, and they were scattered in exile. When we repent, there is a gathering principle that is activated. There are times in our lives when God will bring us to the place of total surrender. In this place of surrender, God will uncover the sins that we must repent. In the Bible, 1 John 1:9 tells us that, if we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to forgive us of our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. After Nehemiah confessed the sins of his nation, his family, and himself, God began to activate His favor. Anytime we confess our sins before God, we activate God’s favor. That very day that Nehemiah prayed, favor was activated. Nehemiah needed time off from work to rebuild the wall in Judah, so he needed favor from King Artaxerxes. Before he asked the king, he went before the King of Kings. Nehemiah was afraid, but he prayed. There are times in our lives, when we have to go before kings. There are times in our lives when we have to open our mouths and speak. Nehemiah prayed again, before he opened his mouth. When he prayed again, he activated favor in heaven. Once he had favor in heaven, it was released on earth. Nehemiah opened his mouth, and then God began to speak through him. Nehemiah asked the king to send him to Jerusalem to rebuild the city. He set a time frame when he would be away from work, then he asked the king for letters, travel documents, so that he would have safe passage to Judah. When God has an assignment for us to do, He will commission us by laying “the burden of the assignment” upon us. What we do with the assignment is up to us. Nehemiah took his burden to God. Although he was living in the palace, Nehemiah was worried about the pit where his people and his city was in. The first work that any leader must do

is the work, of repentance, upon our own hearts. If we are going to do anything for God, we must first return to God in repentance. Repentance activates the favor of Heaven. God commissioned Nehemiah to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem. Nehemiah repented for his nation, his family, and himself. In other words, Nehemiah returned to God. Have you encountered a measure of success in your lifework? Are you content with serving in the palace as the kings cupbearer, or is there a greater purpose for your life? The stirring that you feel within you, the dream that you carry within you, the burden for a particular cause within you, is God activating greater Kingdom purpose. Nehemiah was disturbed when he heard about the ruins of his people, and his homeland. He could no longer go about life as usual. God stirred his spirit and he was moved to seek God’s solution. God wants to do a greater works through you. You may be wondering where do I begin? God wants you to begin by returning to Him. Repent for your Nation, repent for other Nations, repent for your city, your school, your church. Repent for your family, and repent for yourself. Like David, our prayer must be, “Create in me a clean heart oh God, renew a right spirit within me. Cast me not from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore unto me the joy of Your Salvation. Uphold me with Your free spirit. Nehemiah returned to God, as a result, his repentance activated the favor of God, and the favor of man. Nehemiah led a mighty renovation project; God gave him the strategies to rebuild the city. He first assessed the situation, and deployed a covert, and an overt operation. Although his enemies surrounded him, Nehemiah led the rebuild with tools in one hand, and a sword in the other. The walls of Jerusalem were built with one handed builders. Whatever God is calling you to rebuild, restore, and renovate in ministry, His favor is with you, if only you would return to Him. Minister Angela E. Miller

Water is Second Outside of oxygen water is the single most important nutrient for your body. We all know drinking water is good for us, but did you know every cell from head to toe depends on water to function properly? Virtually, every job that the body performs requires water. Unfortunately, the majority of people do not drink enough water to maintain good health. A good rule of thumb for minimum hydration is a half-ounce of water for every pound of body weight, and an additional 16 ounces of water per hour of exercise and 16 ounces daily if l you live in hot or dry climate. Clear or light yellow urine is a good indicator you are properly hydrated. A few of the amazing benefits of drinking water: You are aiding your body in transport of nutrients and oxygen into cells. It literally breathes air into your cells! Water increases the efficiency of our immune system; therefore you are less likely to get sick. Water regulates body temperature and blood circulation. Prevents clogging of arteries in the heart and brain and thus reducing the risk of heart attack and stroke. Your brain is mostly made up of water, ample amounts of water can keep you alert and thinking better and may help prevent headache or migraines. A few more amazing EYE-OPENING benefits of water are: First and foremost, water makes you look great!! You’ll look younger with healthier skin. Water moisturizes and hydrates your skin from the inside out. It maintains elasticity and suppleness, and it helps prevent dryness. Secondly, water can be of the most important catalyst for weight loss. Water suppresses the appetite naturally, and helps you from confusing hunger from thirst. Drinking water helps you lose weight because it flushes out the by-products of fat breakdown. Eileen MacDonald, RN Certified Biblical Health Coach

It is important to be healthy, body and soul. 1 Corinthians 15:45-46 (NIV) states, v45 “The first man Adam became a living being; the last Adam, a life-giving spirit. v46 The spiritual did not come first, but the natural, and after that the spiritual”. The recipe I’m sharing today is for the body. It is a simple, at home, do it yourself sugar scrub recipe. The ingredients consist of items used every day in the kitchen. Exfoliation is the shedding of superficial cells from the surface of the skin; it helps remove dead skin cells to uncover smooth, fresh skin. Exfoliating the skin is a natural way to replenish the healthy-looking skin for the body. You can safely exfoliate the skin several times a week based on your skin type. Be careful not to overdo it. It is suggested two to three times a week for normal and combination skin, and once a week for sensitive skin.

detox’s the body. The sea salt exfoliates, cleans, and moisturizes the body. Fine sea salt is better than course sea salt for your sugar scrub. Table salt is not recommended because it will be more like an abrasive on the skin, and may cause skin irritation. The sea salt complements the sugar scrub, but if you do not have any available at home, it can be optional. This honey lemon sugar scrub is made with all-natural ingredients, and has a mild sweet scent of honey with a hint of lemon.

Free from Violence - Free from fear !!!

VIOLENCE DOES NOT MEAN LOVE IN ANY LANGUAGE…………...

Fighting against Domestic Violence

SPEAK UP BREAK the SILENCE

Lady DIVVA International is Empowering Women to have success past the pain... Domestic Violence Awareness Domestic violence is a community problem that is becoming more frequent. People need to be educated more on this topic. Domestic violence is one of the leading ways that women who are in intimate relationships die. Domestic violence is a subject that is often hidden and needs to be exposed. Domestic violence can be defined as when two people are in an intimate relationship and one controls or dominates the other by physical, verbal, emotional, or sexual abuse. Although statistics only show the deaths of women, the abuser can be male or female. The victims of domestic violence can be anyone from any status of life. The victim can be a mother, sister, brother, neighbor, teacher, lawyer, as well as the CEO of a company. The abuser’s only qualification is that they can control and have power over the victim. Victims of domestic violence are isolated from family and friends. One way the abuser ensures that the victim remains a victim is by threatening to harm others if the victim tells anyone what is happening to them. The abuser will appear to be very charming and friendly to all the victim is in contact with. Commonly, the abuser sets incidents in place where the victim would seem to be crazy, or seeing things wrongly, so that if the victim did get the courage to report them to someone, no one would believe them. This is why members of a community need to be aware of the signs of domestic violence. Domestic violence is not always visible to the naked eye. Yes, many times there is visible evidence of abuse, but usually the abuser will make sure the bruises and injuries are not easily apparent to others. The bruising and scars are left in places that are covered by clothing. In order to see signs of domestic violence, people must take notice of those around them. Have they had any behavior changes? Do they seem more withdrawn than usual? Have they lost interest, or missed days from work, school, or hobbies? Do they complain of aches and pains making frequent trips to the doctor? Are they stressed? Some common signs of domestic violence are bruises to the legs, feet, forearms, and abdominal area, facial/neck scrapes, cuts, and factures, loose, or broken teeth, breast, buttocks, or genital injuries, bite marks, cigarette burns, and rope, or belt marks. Since domestic violence victims are in constant fear, communities, agencies, and individuals need to be aware of the signs, so that victims can get help out of violent situations. This can be done by just being a listening ear, being moral support giving the victim confidence to remove themselves from the abusive situation, and to report what

is going on to the police. Violent situations should be reported to the police, but individuals must be mindful that domestic violence is a serious situation and every case is different. If the victim is not ready mentally to come forward with the truth, the police just barging in could place the victim in more danger than ever, and could cause their death. Once it has been determined that someone is in an abusive situation, it is best to try to talk that person into getting out, then find a resource that is well educated in the area of domestic violence, report it to them, and let them handle the situation in a manner that will be safe for all. Domestic violence is real, incidents and deaths are becoming more frequent daily. Only a small portion has been revealed in this essay. People can educate themselves on domestic violence by viewing web sites, reading books, magazines, and articles on the topic. They can also check with their doctor to receive pamphlets and other information on domestic violence.

Let’s help keep our communities free of violence and fear!

I don't trust him! "Him" being all the men who try to get close to me in a relationship. Daddy didn't stay when I was a little girl. He had me believing that he'd be around, always, to look after me, to protect me, and to keep me safe from harm. But he walked away and didn't turn around, so I was stuck all by myself trying to figure this thing out on my own. I was looking for something that was nowhere to be found, and in the mean time I gave myself away. I gave me all away! I gave away all my love, my trust, my spirit, and my body. I gave me all away to so many undeserving people that I left myself void. Void of feelings and emotions, loveless, careless, and unable to connect to anyone, or anything around me. I had been looking for someone, or something to fill this empty space in this place called a heart for over 38 years, and I'm just now figuring out what was missing. I was missing from my life! I had put on so many fronts, so many hats, so many faces, that I didn't even know who I was, or what I wanted. Suzanne Eaton disappeared at 12 years old, and some other people came in to take my place to help me deal with what was my reality. They were all dirty though, and each one had a reason for being that way. The physical and mental abandonment of my father. The sexual abuse at a young age from my uncle. The physical abuse from my husband and son's father. All of those horrible ordeals left me in a filthy place mind, body, and, soul, and made everything seem so muted for so many years. The me that I didn't know! This me caused me great pain and sorrow. I wanted to die over and over again, every single day. Suicidal ideations was my drug of choice. Going through the motions of killing myself numbed me for a little while. Hospitalization was my refuse. I'd sober up in treatment, gain fresh insights and awareness, only to end up attempting it again and again. I kept thinking, “Why should this dirty girl live?". I considered myself contaminated, filthy, unclean, and unworthy of anything good in my life. I started realizing that wasn't me! I remember that it was the summer of 2014 when I realized that those individuals perpetrating my life were not me! I was somebody

else, deserving of something good, designed by someone Great! I'd been knocked out for several days, in the hospital, from another non-fatal dose of sedatives. I awakened to find myself in an unfamiliar place. The unfamiliarity brought about a new awareness for me that I had never experienced before, it was the light! The light I saw spoke to me! This light showed me where I was, whose I was, and what I was. If it hadn't been so pretty, bright and warm, it would have been frightening. The light warmed my soul to the core and I felt so weightless, as opposed to dark and heavy. I saw the definition of JOY and Happiness in the newness of that morning's sunshine. God showed me who I was, a beautiful Princess in His sight, especially made for His pleasure, clean, pure, and forgiven in sight. I found a new JOY! I had come to know the purpose for my life and that it wasn't about me. It had become so clear to me that Jesus thought I was worth dying for; then everything in my life changed. I have a new attitude. He is showing me my value; I am deserving of all good things. He's teaching me to not settle for anything less than what I deserve. As a child of the King, my worth is not determined by anyone but Him. He's teaching me to wait on Him, trust in Him alone, and to keep fighting the good fight of faith!
