Livewire Sets Price, Rollout Schedule For Latest Electric Motorcycle Model

By David Schuyler

LiveWire Group Inc., the electric motorcycle spinoff of Milwaukee-based motorbike manufacturer Harley-Davidson Inc., has set a price and rollout schedule for the production version of its latest model, the S2 Del Mar.

LiveWire (NYSE: LVWR), also based in Milwaukee, has set manufacturer’s suggested retail price for the S2 Del Mar at $15,499. The company is now taking reservations for the electric motorcycle model that’s now expected to be delivered in July.

Performance highlights and complete product specifications will be published in June, along with a full calendar of demo opportunities and events, LiveWire said.

The news marks the entry of the most affordable version of the LiveWire electric motorcycle line to be released. An early, customized version of the S2, the S2 Del Mar Launch Edition, was offered for an MSRP of $17,699.

The company’s LiveWire One model was priced at $21,999, down from $29,799 for the original LiveWire.

The S2 Del Mar features a targeted output of 80 horsepower and weighs less than 440 pounds. The bike’s range for in-city riding is targeted to be 100 miles.

Reservations for the Del Mar Launch Edition were opened about a year ago, but an expected spring delivery for the model was delayed as the company worked through the production, pricing and delivery details. LiveWire plans to ship 750 to 2,000 Del Mars in 2023, compared with the previous guidance of 7,000.

LiveWire said that starting April 27, it will take reservations from European customers for the S2 Del Mar Launch Edition, of which only 100 models will be produced. Those models are expected to be delivered in September.

LiveWire Group completed its spinoff from Harley-Davidson (NYSE: HOG) in September 2022. Harley-Davidson remains the majority shareholder in LiveWire.
