Our Values
Our values are our commitment to our residents, our staff, and to everyone whose lives are impacted by what we do. They reflect our considerable history and show the organisation we strive to be at all times.
British Home is a charity offering services that improve the lives of people living with neuro-disability: rehabilitation; residential care; respite support; and palliative care. Every resident at British Home has been affected by neuro-disability whether that is as a result of accident or trauma, stroke, or a consequence of a degenerative condition or illness.
About Us
• In everything we do, we will act with integrity, openness and honesty.
There is capacity for 80 people on site, with each resident having their own, private accommodation. Services are delivered through a multi-disciplinary team under the leadership of the Director of Care. As the nature of neuro-disability is unique to each individual, so the range and frequency of facilities and services people use will be tailored to their own needs and
• We understand that every individual will have their own targets and motivations, and that rehabilitation is a process that people take at their own pace.
• We are committed to the highest standards and embrace innovation and models of best practice.
British Home is a Royal Charter charity that supports people living with neuro-disability. We have a proud history of care and support, and have been based at Crown Point, near Streatham Common, since 1892.
• Recognising the advantages that our diversity provides, we will harness the talent and energy of everyone at British Home: staff, volunteers, residents, families and carers.
residents stay with us only a short time until they move onto different accommodation, for example in an adapted home in the community, whereas for others British Home is a long-term home. For all of our residents, British Home provides a safe, comfortable and suitable therapeutic environment.
We are planning significant investment towards the provision of high-quality rehabilitation services to support our ambition of becoming a national leader in this critical field. The Board has agreed to deploy the charity’s assets towards this aim, including the redevelopment of our existing building to create a stateof-the art facility that will position British Home as a leader in its field.
Palliative Care
Our RehabilitationServices
We understand that British Home is more than just a building, it is the place where our residents live. British Home offers spacious, individual accommodation that can be tailored to the individual tastes of each resident. All residents receive nursing care twenty-fours a day under the supervision of a team leader for their specific area.

Respite Care
British Home is more than just our residents. For every individual living with neuro-disability, there are a significant number of other people affected. Some friends and family will be getting used to a loved one living away from home whereas others may have to take control of a person’s life through a Power of Attorney. Our support is available to everyone involved.
Respite at British Home is designed to offer short-term, or flexible, periods of residential care to people living with neurodisability. Respite can support long-term carers to carry on being able to offer such care in their own home or other setting after the period of respite.
British Home offers personalised and appropriate end of life care for people living with neurodisability. Whether this is for a few days or over a much longer period of time, we provide a positive, comfortable environment that supports people to die with dignity. Palliative care at British Home, which has been awarded the Platinum Care Hallmark by the Gold Standard Framework, is delivered through a multidisciplinary team that brings together nurses, therapists and other professionals involved in a resident’s care under the direction of our Director or Care and Home Manager.
Residential Care
Family and Carer Support
At British Home, our residents’ individual care enables them to live every day of their lives as fully as they can. Rehabilitation at British Home is delivered by a multi-disciplinary team led by our experienced Therapy Manager. This team includes a range of specialist therapy professionals and is integrated into the life of British Home through both nursing care and social activities teams.
Strategy and Ambition
The British Home is proud of our history of care and support. The impact of a neuro-disability is very personal, we believe that care and therapy should be as well. That’s why our compassionate staff and supportive community are there for every resident and their families, every step of the way. We give our residents the time and individual support that they need. We understand the big things that really help and the little things that really matter. We want to create a brighter life for people affected by neuro-disability.
