LFC Foundation | Head of Foundation
We have ambitious plans for the future, and our vision is to be the leading football foundation that transforms young people’s lives. We are looking for a leader who can role model our values of unity, dignity, ambition and commitment. Our strategy is to deliver long term sustainable change that tackles the root cause of issues, whilst also alleviating the symptoms of poverty and deprivation in the most vulnerable parts of our community. Liverpool FC has been active in local communities for over 30 years and in 2010 formally moved its main charitable activities to the LFC Foundation. With the support of one
of the world’s greatest football clubs we are able to harness the power of football to work with young people to help make a difference to their lives. We are financially independent from the football club, and raise funds to support delivery of projects, in addition to the funding we receive from our various partners. We believe in the highest levels of governance, making sure that every penny we raise through grants, donations or fundraising is fully accounted for and that every activity we undertake is measured to ensure the best possible outcomes.
Appointment Brief | May 2018
We have a strong strategy, great ambition and a wonderful team of staff in place. Research tells us that Liverpool fans are proud of what we do and want to be involved in making a difference to young people’s lives around the world. It is a great time to be joining us, and for the right individual who shares our values, this will be a tremendously rewarding role. We hope that you will identify with the ambitions of the Foundation, and look forward to receiving your application. Gavin Laws

About Us
Liverpool FC is one of the largest and best known sporting institutions in the world and boasts a rich pedigree and history. LFC is supported by hundreds of millions of fans worldwide and has a major impact on the city of Liverpool, especially around its iconic stadium Anfield. LFC has been active in the local community for many years and established the Foundation (the club’s independent charity) to bring greater focus to those issues which the club, and the fans, feel are important and fit within the values of the football club. The club believes bringing all parts of the football club together to create the LFC Family can have a profound impact on the local and global community. Mobilising Liverpool fans around the world to work in their local communities with guidance from the Foundation is a key goal for the future. LFC also runs a separate community team, called Red Neighbours, which operates in and around the Anfield area providing short term interventions where required in the areas of food poverty, support for the elderly, encouraging exercise and creating memorable experiences for young people. LFC Foundation has a vision to be the leading football foundation that transforms young people’s lives. It will achieve this by bringing together the LFC Family to create life changing opportunities for children and young people, and by working with proven partners to spread the reach of our activities.

Whilst the majority of our focus is on young people, the Foundation will also support existing programmes helping military veterans recapture their spirit of service and comradeship.
About Our Programmes The Foundation’s Community Delivery Unit runs its own programmes, many of which are partially or fully funded by restricted funds such as Premier League grants. These programmes typically use sport as a way to reach out to young children in a safe environment to improve general fitness and also impart life messages. Some are in conjunction with local schools and others with local community groups. The programmes reach out no matter what gender and many are suitable for those with disabilities. At present, our programmes cover three main themes of Sport and Health, Education, and Employability. For an outline of current programmes we deliver, please clink on the link to our website here https://foundation. liverpoolfc.com/programmes and for a short video on our impact, please click here: https://foundation.liverpoolfc. com/our-impact/changing-lives
About Our Funding and Governance The Foundation is financially selfsufficient but has great support from the football club in the provision of various assets such as access to Anfield and to the playing staff. The Foundation currently secures funding through a number of sources including the Premier League, Merseyside Police, Merseyside Fire & Rescue and the DWP. Alongside programme commissions, the Foundation has a strong track record of generating unrestricted funds to invest in further activities and to embark on projects with our chosen partners - currently Alder Hey Hospital, University of Liverpool and Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine. Activities with partners range from donations to a major children’s research facility, helping to provide mentoring and guidance to young people to further their education into university, and running health and lifestyle education programmes.
Highlights for year ended 31st May 2017 • Brand and strategy relaunch in February, including the launch of a new website. • Strongest financial year to date – income of £2.8m and unrestricted surplus of £897,586. • New partnerships and programmes launched including a physical activity programme for families, new employability programmes and work in Alder Hey. • The first official LFC Foundation Legends charity match against Real Madrid legends, raising £1m, with significant brand exposure to a sell-out crowd of 54,000 people at Anfield stadium and reaching an estimated 134m social media accounts. We have just held a second Legends charity match against Bayern Munich which we expect to raise £1m.
Governance is provided by a Board of Trustees comprising of club officials and independent directors who provide guidance and support to the executive team.
