Firstly, thank you for your interest in the EY Foundation. This is a really interesting time for us as we embark on our next phase of development and growth. We hope that you will feel inspired to join us as Director of Technology and Transformation and become a part of our leadership team as we continue to make a real and measurable difference to the lives of disadvantaged young people. We know that obtaining fulfilling and secure jobs is still a major hurdle for young people. Especially those who are living in poverty, have language barriers, are homeless, or face other forms of disadvantage. The chances of young people in these circumstances having the contacts or the support required to get a good start are slim. Meanwhile, employers are increasingly concerned about the shortage of skilled workers and diversity.

Director of Technology and Transformation | EY Foundation | April 2018

So, when we launched the EY Foundation in July 2014, a charity born out of one of the world’s largest professional services firms, we knew what our role should be. That is to give young people facing barriers to entering the workplace the skills, support, experience and opportunities necessary to succeed and to help employers identify and work with this talented source of future employees. Since then we have developed four high impact programmes in 15 locations across the UK which to date have benefitted more than 1,700 young people and 300 employers. We have also created over 5,000 volunteering opportunities for EY and other employers’ staff.

We hope you are as inspired as we are and that you will join us to help ensure that every young person in the UK, whatever their background, gets the opportunities and good working prospects that they deserve. You will find more details about the Foundation and the Director of Technology and Transformation role in this appointment brief, as well as the contact details for our advisors at Prospectus, who can provide further information.

However, much more work needs to be done, and we are really ambitious about creating increased, measurable impact for disadvantaged young people. The newly created Director of Technology and Transformation role will provide strategic leadership and tactical support on the digital transformation agenda within the Foundation. This is a key leadership role responsible for delivering on our accelerated growth strategy through the development and implementation of an integrated digital strategy and application of digital technology across all aspects of the Foundation.

Patrick Dunne | Chair

We look forward to hearing from you.

Kind Regards,

Maryanna Matthews | Chief Executive

About the EY Foundation The EY Foundation is a pioneering corporate foundation. It was created in 2014 as an independent registered charity with an independent majority board and core funding and support from EY. A service agreement between EY and EY Foundation ensures good governance of the relationship and that each maximises its contribution to the endeavour. As a result of higher than anticipated performance the EY Foundation and EY agreed a new increased five year funding agreement effective from 1st July 2017. The charity has also been successful in raising substantial funds on top of those provided by EY. We bring together the professional rigour, resources and convening power of a large professional services firm with the innovation and dynamism of a start-up charity. At its heart our

purpose is to inspire and support disadvantaged young people across the UK to fulfil their work potential and to work with employers and other key stakeholders to reduce barriers to work for young people and enhance their employability. Through our Smart Futures and Our Future programmes, we organise accredited high-quality work experience, employability training and mentoring for disadvantaged young people. Our free half day employability workshops for schools not only inspire and guide young people to think earlier about their future employability but also create a pipeline for our other programmes. The Accelerate programme works with Social enterprises being run by young people and provides them with the support to help them achieve sustainable growth.
