Chairpersons Tim Halladay & Karen Wetzel and Providence General Foundation welcome you to the 39th Annual
Festival of Trees
to benefit Children’s Services at Providence Everett
Presenting Sponsor
Welcome
Dear Friends,
Welcome to the 2024 Festival of Trees!
We are honored to host this year’s Festival, kick off the holiday season and provide support—just like each of you in attendance tonight—for a wonderful cause that benefits our community every day.
This year’s event has special meaning for us as we reflect on and celebrate what Tim’s mother, Janice, started many years ago—a long history of engagement with Providence Hospital and the Festival of Trees.
Janice served on the Providence Hospital Community Mission Board for 11 years, including being the Board Chair from 2007-2009, and was also an ex-officio member of the Foundation Board for four years.
Tim’s sister, Shanley, has been on the Community Mission Board since 2015. Karen’s sister, Linda, designed and decorated one of the wreaths being auctioned off this evening, and our daughter-in-law, Setare, helped decorate one of the trees in tonight’s auction.
Similar to the story many of you attending tonight could likely tell, our family has a long history of benefiting from the many services provided by Providence – whether that’s experiencing the birth of a child, getting treatment for an illness or medical condition, or relying on the hospital to help us through a once-every-hundred-years pandemic.
It is for those reasons, and because we know funds raised this evening will be directed to benefit Women & Children’s Services, that we are honored to host this year’s Festival of Trees.
In recent years, Festival of Trees proceeds supported Pediatric Behavioral Health, the Boyden Family Autism Center, the NICU and Children's Services. A few months ago, we had the opportunity to tour the Women & Children’s Pavilion. What an experience. Whether it was seeing the hospital staff engaging with autistic children, walking through the Maternity Center as expectant mothers walk the halls, or seeing the teamwork demonstrated by doctors, nurses, therapists, and volunteers, we couldn’t have been more amazed by their impact on newborns and their families.
We’re excited by the impact the funds raised this evening can have on women, children and families in our community We thank each of you for your attendance and generosity this evening.
Warm regards,
Tim & Karen

Spirit of Festival Award
Honoring Stadium Flowers
We are thrilled to honor Stadium Flowers with this year's Spirit of Festival Award. Since the late 1980s, Stadium Flowers has been a cornerstone of Festival of Trees, enhancing the ambiance each year with their stunning flower arrangements, such as the ones gracing your tables tonight.
Stadium also designs and decorates Festival trees every year. These traditions were lovingly started by the former owners, Spark and the late Cheryl Van Winkle, and are continued today by their son Adam and his wife, Darla Van Winkle.
The long-time manager and employee of Stadium Flowers, Frank Arcuri was also a part of the magic. Frank sadly passed away recently. His final wish was to ensure the trees he designed made it to this year's Festival, and indeed, they did. These beautiful creations, crafted with Frank’s unique touch, will be auctioned off later tonight, continuing his—and his employer’s—tradition of giving.
As you can see, Stadium Flowers and its creative team have donated their time decorating trees and wreaths, donated table centerpieces, and donated funds over many decades to help make Festival of Trees a success. Festival simply would not be the same without Stadium Flowers.
The Spirit of Festival award recognizes those who have given time, treasure and talent to make the Festival of Trees. Thanks to donors like Stadium Flowers, the health care needs of countless children in our community are met with compassion and excellence. We extend our deepest gratitude to the Van Winkle family and the entire Stadium Flowers team for their unwavering support and dedication.

Fund a Need
PROVIDENCE WOMEN & CHILDREN’S FUND
Tonight, we have the opportunity to invest in our moms & babies to be sure they are safe and healthy during the delicate, but special time of the baby’s birth.
Providence’s Pavilion for Women & Children is more than 20-years old. In health care years, that’s almost ancient. Medical technology has changed drastically since then. So has our community. More and more babies are born at Providence Everett—more than 4,000 each year, now.
Festivals past have helped fund important equipment updates for our sickest of babies: new high-tech beds and warmers in our NICU, transporters to bring fragile babies to us from other hospitals, maternal-fetal monitors to keep a close eye on moms and newborns—to name a few.
Tonight, we’re asking for your help to upgrade the Pavilion with the latest technology, advanced tools and innovative methods of treatment that allow Providence caregivers to enhance care and save lives. You can help with big things like advanced surgical capabilities for complicated births that can be life-threatening for mom or baby. And you can support the little things, too, to make the birth experience as comfortable and special as possible for all involved.
Please invest in the moment that these precious babies enter the world. We’re asking for your help making those 4,000+ births the safest and best they can be for both the babies and their moms.
Thank you for being here tonight in support of the women and newborns who count on us to make their most precious moments of life safe, healthy and happy.
