TERRI WARREN, CHIEF EXECUTIVE PROVIDENCE TRINITYCARE HOSPICE 2601 Airport Drive #230 in Torrance 310-257-3540, trinitycarehospice.org
Providence TrinityCare Hospice is a not-for-profit hospice provider with a long history of providing excellent end-of-life and palliative care. TrinityCare’s staff of more than 200, led by chief executive Terri Warren, provides in-home care to patients as young as newborns up to centenarians throughout all of Los Angeles and Orange counties at the end of life’s journey. Terri joined Providence TrinityCare Hospice in 1994 and has served in various roles, including social worker, family program coordinator, vice president of operations and her current role starting in 2005. TELL US ABOUT YOUR PROGRAMS.
“The model of end-of-life care was designed for adults and did not work well for children. So our pediatric hospice program, TrinityKids Care, was started in 2001. It is the only designated pediatric hospice program in Los Angeles and Orange counties and is a leader for pediatric hospice and palliative care in the nation. We also have The Gathering Place located in Redondo Beach–a center for loss and life transitions which offers counseling at low or no cost to those who have suffered the death of a loved one from any cause.”
WHAT’S MOST REWARDING ABOUT YOUR WORK?
“Our medical team, led by Dr. Glen Komatsu, is the finest in Los Angeles and Orange counties. It is extremely rewarding to be on the cutting edge. We are moving into new areas of palliative care, helping clients at home who are not dying but who suffer from chronic or long-term conditions.” WHAT DOES THE FUTURE HOLD FOR YOUR COMPANY?
“We just received our largest donation to date, which will be used to establish a Center of Excellence. Providence TrinityCare Hospice has been asked by other organizations to share its approach to comprehensive palliative care, and this gift will enable us to form a program with an appropriate facility to train clinicians and encourage the growth of palliative care in the U.S.” WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO FOR FUN, WHEN YOU’RE NOT AT WORK?
“Head to the beach with my husband and three children–one of the benefits of living in Southern California!”
WHAT WOULD YOU LIKE POTENTIAL CLIENTS TO KNOW ABOUT YOU?
“That we are mission-driven. Our service comes at such a critical and vulnerable time for patients and their families. I ask myself, `Is this the care I would want for my own parents, husband and children?’”
