abyssinia About the Restaurant Experience a whole new world of flavor at Abyssinia, Rhode Island’s only Ethiopian restaurant. In Providence’s Fox Point, Abyssinia serves traditional Ethiopian and Eritrean cuisine, with recipes that have been honed for thousands of years but are prepared fresh every day. If you’ve never tried Ethiopian food before, you’re not alone. While it’s a distinctly African cuisine, Ethiopian is similar to Indian food, full of rich spices, and is very popular with vegetarians and vegans because of its abundance of flavorful vegetable dishes. Rather than Indian curry, the predominant flavor in Ethiopian is berbere, a blend of 14 different spices and hot peppers. If you have experienced the delicious, transportive cuisine before, you know that Abyssinia is authentic and delicious enough to entice diners from as far as Boston who come back again and again. The restaurant also works with refugees from Ethiopia and Eritrea - their philosophy is “eat good food, do good for the world.” Ethiopian food is healthy, flavorful and fun to eat - it’s a cuisine where it’s not only ok to eat with your hands, it’s expected. No matter what you order, all Ethiopian food comes served on a large, flat piece of injera, which is a tangy, soft bread similar to Indian naan or a tortilla. Instead of using utensils, you tear off a piece of injera and use it to pick up a bite of food. While it’s a lot of fun to eat this way, they do have utensils available at Abyssinia. For a taste of a new part of the world, take an adventure to Wickenden Street in Providence and try Abyssinia for yourself.
Menu Highlights Salads & Appetizers Kategna $5.95 Deep-fried injera chips topped with mitmita spice and served with a garlic and cilantro-herbed greek yogurt dip
Vegetarian Sambussas $5.95 Pardina lentils mixed with onions, peppers and herbs, hand-wrapped in two thin pastry shells and fried to a golden brown
Ye’dinich Salata $5.95 Diced potatoes and beets with fresh-squeezed lemon and olive oil dressing
Entrees Doro Wot $13.95 Bone-in chicken marinated in lemon, stewed in a berbere sauce, flavored with onions, garlic and an Ethiopian blend of spices. Garnished with a hard-boiled egg and ayib, Ethiopian cottage cheese Ye’sega Alcha $12.95 Tender beef cubes simmered in a savory sauce of butter, onion, ginger and ird, a mild blend of spices Kitfo Leb Leb $17.95 A very popular dish from the Gurage region of Ethiopia, similar to a beef tartare. Finely chopped beef very lightly cooked in qibe butter and seasoned with mitmita
Ye’beg Tibs $18.95 Lamb cubes sauteed in olive oil with onions, hot peppers, tomatoes, rosemary and qibe butter Ye’assa Tibs $16.95 Fresh fish sauteed in berbere-spiced olive oil with onions, hot peppers, tomatoes, rosemary and qibe butter Gomen $8.95 Chopped collard greens, red onions, and tomatoes cooked in herbed oil with onions, green hot peppers and garlic Key Sir $7.95 Beets, carrots, potatoes, and hot green peppers sauteed in olive oil and garlic, and finished with a touch of toasted grains of paradise

Angelo’s RestAuRAnt About the Restaurant The more things change, the more they stay the same. That adage perfectly describes the consistently good food, service and experience you’ll have at Angelo’s. Famously perched on historic Federal Hill since 1924, Angelo’s is the oldest family-owned restaurant in Rhode Island. Now owned and operated by the third generation of dedicated family members, the regional Italian restaurant stays true to its heritage by serving traditional Southern Italian comfort food which includes the classics from 1924. The cuisine was inspired by the food locals prepared in Farnese, a tiny Italian village west of Rome. As immigrants settled on Federal Hill, they knew they could count on the old world classics such as pasta and red sauce at Angelo’s. Created as a place for the working man, the restaurant’s mission was to feed the neighborhood great food at great prices. A bit of history: French fries were added to the meatball plate during the Great Depression in an effort to hold customers over a bit longer until their next meal. Today the famous and uniquely paired dish features perfectly golden fries along with four large meatballs for only $5.50. Other original classics include pastine soup, baked macaroni, tripe, eggplant parmesan and stringbean salad. Loyalists refer to the tender veal & peppers and veal parmesan as “the best.” The braciola wowed Food Network chef Guy Fieri, as seen on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives in 2012. All menu items are still remarkably under $20, another nod to its storied history. The friendly wait staff is also tried and true, with some employed at the restaurant for multiple decades. Generations of families have been, and continue to be, delighted at this iconic Rhode Island restaurant.
Menu Highlights Classics Menu Antipasto $10.25 Fresh Italian meats, cheeses and assorted vegetables served over mixed greens
Tripe $8.25 Light and tender, simmered for hours, just like Granma used to make Braciola $12.50 Hand-cut beef braciola, rolled with spices, and served over egg noodle pasta
Meatballs & French Fries $5.50 Four homemade meatballs and a little bit of French fries
Veal & Peppers market Award winning stewed veal with sweet peppers in its own delicate sauce
Pasta Lasagna $10.99 Noodles layered with homemade Bolognese sauce and a ricotta cheese blend
Cavati Rosalie $14.29 Cavatelli and diced eggplant sautéed in Chef Joe’s famous pink vodka sauce, topped with melted mozzarella cheese
Emilio’s Special $12.99 Whole wheat penne pasta sautéed in oil with fresh garlic, black olives and broccoli
Pasta Aglio Olio $10.69 Fresh garlic sautéed with black olives over spaghetti

Bistro 22 About the Restaurant The story of Bistro 22 is the story of two brothers with a passion for food. Coowners Carlo and Gennaro Slaughter combined their extensive knowledge of the local culinary landscape - Carlo at Johnson and Wales University, and as the former owner of D’Carlo’s Restaurant; Jerry at the Culinary Institute of America and in hotels and restaurants - to open a casual, delicious neighborhood bistro in Garden City. Bistro 22 is a cozy, laid-back spot for delicious lunch or dinner. Nestled among the chic shops of Garden City, it’s the perfect stop to recharge in the middle of an afternoon of shopping, or as a romantic date destination. For lunch, keep things light with creative salads, like the Bistro 22 Wedge with iceberg lettuce, bacon, red onion, tomato and gorgonzola dressing; the Caprese with house-made mozzarella, heirloom tomatoes, pumpkin seed basil pesto and a balsamic reduction; or the Baby Spinach with melon, toasted pistachios, feta and an apricot vinaigrette. Add chicken, grilled shrimp, salmon or hangar steak to any salad to round out a meal. Or, choose from their delicious sandwiches, like: the 22 Burger, with smoked cheddar, caramelized onions, house-smoked thick bacon, arugula and truffle aioli; or the house-smoked Salmon Grilled Cheese with creme fraiche, dill, chives, red onion and gruyere. Flatbreads with toppings like roasted seasonal vegetables or house-made mozzarella and basil pesto are perfect for sharing. But if you’re on the hungrier side, many dinner entrees are available in lunch portions, with some special additions like Grilled Shrimp over
orzo salad with feta, kalamata olives, cherry tomatoes, red onion and red wine vinaigrette; or Narragansett Beer-battered Fish and Chips, with house slaw. For dinner, start things off right with a Bruschetta Trio of roasted garlic and herb ricotta, caprese and fig jam and cambozola; Braised Littlenecks with chorizo, grilled red onions, garlic and potatoes and Narragansett lager; or Yukon Gold Potato Hash with chorizo, caramelized onions, roasted red potatoes and a poached egg. But make sure to leave room for your entree, because it’s going to be hard to leave anything on your plate. Selections include Ricotta-stuffed Gnocchi with pulled short rib and mushroom ragout, finished with truffle oil; Grilled Hangar Steak Frites with an arugula salad and herb compound butter; Fettuccine Jambalaya with chicken, chorizo, shrimp, tomatoes and peppers in a Cajun cream sauce; Herb-crusted Codfish with artichoke hearts, oven dried tomatoes and spinach; Pan-seared Scallops over smoked ham and pea risotto; or a Grilled Pork Chop with chorizo hash, fruit salsa and a sweet and spicy jalapeno glaze. Even if you can’t make room for dessert - which, trust us, you should - don’t end your meal without a cocktail. Bistro 22’s cocktail menu is one of the best in Cranston, with selections like the Johnny Ola (Bacardi white rum, house-made watermelon syrup, lemon juice, mint and fresh lime), the Agador (Cuervo Gold, Cointreau, St. Germain, lime and orange juices) and the Burnett (Lazy Eight Black Tea Vodka, Strawberry Meyer Lemonade and fresh mint). But don’t take our word for it. Try Bistro 22 for yourself.

Blend Cafe
About the Restaurant For chef/owner Welbi Genao, Blend Cafe is literally a dream come true. Chef Welbi discovered his passion for cooking during a bumpy time in his life, enrolled in a culinary program, and now runs one of the state’s most exciting new restaurants. The name Blend Cafe comes from two places: Chef Welbi’s love of blending music as a DJ, and his passion for blending Latin flavors with modern culinary techniques. Whether for brunch, to try the Dominican Eggs Benedict (two farm fresh poached eggs with house corn bread, Dominican salami and fresh hollandaise on a bed of butter mangu), or for dinner to sample the Bistec al Caballo (thinly sliced sirloin beef grilled and tossed in their signature steak sauce, garnished with an over-easy egg), make this restaurant your next culinary adventure. Blend is a small restaurant tucked away on Reservoir Avenue in Cranston, but the impression is big. The food at Blend is art. Chef Welbi makes sure every detail is perfect, every plate is beautiful, every ingredient is fresh and local. He’s committed to a farm-to-table philosophy, represented in everything from the Chicken and Waffle, which features Adobo-seasoned chicken from Johnston’s Baffoni Farm, served with a savory ricotta waffle, to Blend’s serving Yacht Club soda. Serving brunch daily, the restaurant is a popular morning destination any day of the week. The Desayuno (breakfast plates) range from a D.R. Breakfast with Dominican salami, eggs, queso frito, butter mangu and pickled onions; to the Balsamic Salmon Breakfast, which is fresh salmon marinated in dill and

capers, then pan-seared with a balsamic reduction and served with eggs and toasted French baguette. The Tortillas Y Huevos Benediciones (omelets and eggs benedict) have offerings like the King Romeo Omelet, with shrimp, spicy sausage, local corn, cherry tomatoes, American cheese and avocado, served with home fries and a house buttermilk biscuit. Emparedados (sandwiches) range from The Reservoir Hog, which is house-smoked pulled pork in a house BBQ sauce, with cole slaw, crispy shallots and creamy dressing on a fresh pretzel bun; to El Chimi, PV Farm grass-fed beef with local slaw, Blend’s Ketchu Mayo sauce and monterey jack on a ciabatta roll. For dinner, start with a cocktail, like a marganta or passion fruit sangria, made with their house passion fruit juice. Then enjoy the Reservoir Clams, which are Rhode Island littlenecks with PV Farm Italian boar sausage and seasonal veggies, served in a white wine broth; Pastelitos, mini empanadas stuffed with PV Farm beef and Baffoni Farm pulled chicken; or Ceviche con Tostones, red snapper and shrimp marinated in citrus juice, served with peppers, onions and crispy tostones. For your entree, try Camarones Polentano, sautéed shrimp served on creamy corn polenta, dressed in a garlic, white wine sauce; El Churasco, thinly sliced flank steak grilled with house chimichurri sauce, Yucca mash and farm fresh green beans; or Chicharron de Pollo, which is Adobo-fried chicken with Tostones. And finish things off on a sweet note with Sweet Plantains Tres Leche, a vanilla sponge cake made with a puree of sweet plantains and walnuts, served with whipped cream and tres leche glaze. With the perfect combination of delicious food, friendly service and a casual atmosphere, Blend Cafe is truly the right mix.

breachway grill About the Restaurant The Breachway Grill, a year-round restaurant located near the Charlestown Breachway, takes comfort food to new places. Inspired by the laid-back vibe of the beach, the restaurant has become a local favorite and a tourist hot spot since it opened in 2011. It all started with the search for the perfect fish taco. The owners, three local friends who shared the same vision, joined forces to create a restaurant that offered a creative and healthier alternative to local seafood offerings. Fresh fish tacos with toppings and sides all made from scratch, quickly became the restaurant’s signature dish. Locally sourced seafood reigns supreme here, where customers can enjoy a summer raw bar, day boat scallops, homemade chowder and a varied selection of freshly caught fish from the “catch of the day” menu. Another specialty of the house is the authentic New York style thin crust pizza. Again, the owners couldn’t find a great slice of the stuff locally, so they decided to add it to the already diverse menu. The gourmet pizza, which can be ordered directly from their website, ranges from the classic Margherita to the meat loving Gready Meaty. Freshly ground steakhouse burgers, calzones, pasta, chicken and steaks rounds out the mouth-watering selections that are offered daily for lunch and dinner. On the weekends, live entertainment makes for a beachside night out ideal for families and a group of friends alike. Friendly service, a relaxed atmosphere and a twist on comfort food makes for a consistently great dining experience at the Breachway Grill.

cafe nuovo About the Restaurant Café Nuovo is a delightful escape from the ordinary. True to its name, it burst upon the culinary scene in 1995, the quest of Capriccio owner Vincenzo Iemma and business partner Dimitri Kriticos, to bring a new and exciting culinary experience to the city. capriccio About the Restaurant Long before Providence’s storied renaissance, Capriccio took a chance on a then underdeveloped downtown district and opened its grand doors in 1977. Carved out of the cellars of an historic landmark, the restaurant set a new standard for Rhode Island, offering an experience equal to those in the best cities in the world. Founder Vincenzo Iemma, an Italian immigrant with an impressive European restaurant pedigree, created the classically sophisticated concept that today continues to be a culinary trailblazer. Capriccio delivers an exquisite experience. Tuxedoed wait staff, fresh cut roses on white linen tables, and deft tableside preparation is set amidst a refined, richly appointed interior. The extensive menu features an international cuisine with a Northern Italian accent. The chefs present a masterful array of dishes featuring both locally and globally-sourced seasonal selections ranging from Waygu beef and Beluga caviar to Maine lobster and their signature Dover sole. Their famous tableside flambés create a one-of-a-kind experience and atmosphere. At the forefront of upscale dining since day one, Capriccio created the distribution channels for many gourmet foods then new to our region. Farm-raised ostrich, stone crab, pompano, abalone, and Louisiana crayfish are samples of an ever-changing seasonal bounty that finds its way onto the Capriccio bill of fare. To compliment those selections, the restaurant boasts one of the most acclaimed wine cellars in New England and one of the most extensive cognac lists in America. Standing the test of time for nearly four decades, accumulating dozens of local and national awards, Capriccio’s dedication to detail and excellence will always be in style.

carriage inn & Saloon About the Restaurant In early 2014, the Carriage Inn & Saloon opened in its historic location in North Kingstown. The iconic building dates back to 1760, where it was once a busy stagecoach stop along the Northeast Corridor. Today, after a modern renovation that kept original stone walls and fireplaces intact, the sprawling space includes a main dining room, two lounges, an oyster bar and a banquet facility. With a nod to the past, the casual restaurant serves great American fare with a Rhode Island flair. The menu offers an excellent selection of tried and true favorites, like steakhouse quality chops and steaks, fresh seafood, burgers, pastas and pizza. Their signature dish is a slow-roasted prime rib that’s aged for five weeks, then prepared with their own seasoned rub. Heaping plates of high quality comfort food always provide a tremendous value, with most of the dishes priced under $20. The Whiskey Bar, one of two lounges, is in the oldest part of the building. Here you can find a whopping 125 bottles of whiskey and an intimate rustic charm complete with a roaring woodburning fireplace. The Saloon is reminiscent of a lively Irish pub, where you can catch a game on TV and grab a craft brew. The oyster bar is brimming with colossal shrimp, local oysters and littlenecks, shucked to order. And the Surrey Lounge is a unique setting for any special event up to 150 guests. With something for everybody, the Carriage Inn & Saloon continues to make history and memories in Southern Rhode Island.

celestial cafe About the Restaurant Celestial Café, just down the road from the bucolic Schartner Farms property, has been doing farm-to-table cuisine long before it became popular. Owners Cheryl Zannella and Branden Read, who are also family members, are celebrating 13 years of serving exceptionally good real food in South County. Practically everything at Celestial Café is made in-house, right down to the stocks, salad dressings and demi-glaces. Working closely with local farmers, fisherman and food purveyors enables Chef Branden to create seasonally inspired cuisine that offers a true taste of the Ocean State. The menu changes every three months to best incorporate what’s growing at neighboring farms like Schartners, Farmer’s Daughter and S&P Gardiner. The result is always a creative and sophisticated take on comfort food where fresh flavors take center stage. The Local Farm Dinner, a monthly series that seats upwards of 600 guests from Thursday through Sunday, showcases and supports local food suppliers to a continuously sold-out crowd. Menus are created to highlight the finest area sourced ingredients, such as grass-fed meats from Pat’s Pastured, cream from Rhody Fresh and foraged provisions from Rhode Island Mushroom and South County Honey. Foodies feast on a gourmet five-course meal, which includes a glass of local wine or craft beer, for just $40. The sizeable menu – which includes classic and creative takes on burgers, salads, soups, pasta, seafood and steaks – can also meet any dietary need, whether it’s with gluten free pizza or a vegetarian entree. Champlin’s seafood About the Restaurant
About the Market
Above the market is Champlin’s Seafood Deck. Some might call it a clam shack, but that’s an understatement. Champlin’s does serve classic New England seafood fare like fried clams, shrimp and scallops, fresh swordfish and flounder, and boiled lobster dinners. But the restaurant is a Rhode Island dining institution, and has been serving hungry locals and daytrippers since 1944. Champlin’s Seafood Deck is located at the entrance to Galilee Harbor, home of Rhode Island’s largest fishing fleet. Enjoy your favorite seafood dish on their spacious deck or channel view lounge, and watch local fishermen unload their daily lobster and fish catch. Fresh dayboat scallops, world famous Pt. Judith squid, pristine Block Island swordfish… it all comes across their docks, allowing them to serve the finest seafood available in Rhode Island. Since their recent renovations, Champlin’s now offers an impressive raw bar selection, including several varieties of local oysters, native hardshell clams, cooked jumbo shrimp and crab legs. While your meal is being prepared, visit their newly remodeled and extended cocktail bar, an area of the restaurant that offers an amazing panoramic view of a quintessential working New England fishing port. Sip on a cocktail while the Block Island Ferry sails past – try Amanda’s fantastic Bloody Mary, or a frozen specialty like a margarita or mudslide, or a draft from their brand new, eight-tap draft system. Another recent addition is the ability to have a party at Champlin’s. With their expanded kitchen, they can offer specialty meal choices along with their can’t-be-beat setting.
Connoisseurs of seafood know that we’re truly lucky to live in Rhode Island, where we’ve got the best of the ocean’s bounty coming off of our docks and onto our plates on the same day. Serious connoisseurs buy their fish from Champlin’s Seafood Retail Market, just steps off the fishing boats in Point Judith. The Galilee institution has been providing Rhode Islanders with the incredibly fresh fish straight off those boats since the 1940s. On a given day, find live lobsters and crabs, scallops and shrimp, filleted and whole fish caught only hours ago. If you’d rather not do the cooking yourself, the market also sells an array of freshly prepared takeaway dishes like stuffed quahogs, cooked lobsters and shrimp and smoked salmon and bluefish. Or, pick out your lobster in the market and have it cooked upstairs in the restaurant for market price plus $5. Of all of our seafood legacies, the classic Rhode Island clam bake is the most iconic, and the most difficult to prepare. Champlin’s sells clam bakes packaged and ready to cook at home, packed in stainless steel containers that are ready to be steamed on your stove or grill. Per person, a clam bake includes: a chicken lobster, one pound of steamers, one pound of mussels, assorted vegetables, and a sausage-stuffed flounder fillet. The best part is that you can share the wealth with loved ones who aren’t lucky enough to live in Rhode Island. Champlin’s ships clam bakes on ice via overnight delivery to anywhere in the country.

Chez PasCal and the Wurst KitChen About the Restaurants Chez PasCal Known in the city and beyond as a destination for French-influenced cuisine at its finest, Chez Pascal has been feeding legions of hungry gourmands on Providence’s East Side for over a decade. Chef Matthew and Kristin Gennuso opened the restaurant in 2003, after meeting while working at a restaurant in Boston and decamping to Rhode Island to open their own restaurant together. Chez Pascal is known for its approachable take on the grand French culinary tradition, which emphasizes making food from scratch such as breads, stocks and sauces, and using local seasonal ingredients. Start your meal with a selection of house-made patés and charcuterie. Then enjoy something classic – Escargots a la Bourguignonne with warm garlic and parsley scented brioche – or innovative, like a warm salad of red cabbage, watercress, walnuts and apples with pumpkin seed oil and a blue cheese flan. Ingredients on the menu are locally sourced as much as possible, utilizing the abundance of farmers that Rhode Island and the surrounding community has to offer. It is these close relationships that Matt has with the numerous farmers he works with that provide inspiration for the menu. That coupled with the ever-changing New England seasons make each trip to Chez Pascal an opportunity to try something new. In the summer, you might find grilled skirt steak, potato purée, walla walla onions, corn, romano beans and peach compote, or enjoy in their homage to the tomato with Chez Pascal’s annual late summer Tomato Dinner. Dessert, of course, is not to be missed. The pear upside down cake with great hill blue cheese, walnuts, caramel sauce and crème fraiche has remained on the menu since day one. As the seasons change and the selection of local produce shifts, the menus follow suit. The wine list is crafted to offer a wide variety of wines, something for the adventurous and traditionalist alike.
the Wurst KitChen Soon after opening the restaurant, the pair started Hewtin’s Dogs, a push cart across the street from the restaurant, and Hewtin’s Dogs Mobile, a gourmet food truck dedicated to serving Matt’s house-made sausages, sandwiches and cured meats. They became so popular that they made it permanent, turning a part of Chez Pascal into the Wurst Kitchen. By day, the kitchen serves sandwiches with their house-made sausages and meats: cheddarwurst, weisswurst, knackwurst, pork butt pastrami and more. Their Bacon-Wrapped Pork Meatloaf sandwich, with coleslaw and spicy tomato compote, is the stuff of legend. At night, the open kitchen takes things out of the bun, serving up plates like Baked Spaetzle with smoked port sausage, kale, Vermont raclette and herbed bread crumbs; and Beef Short Rib Pot Pie with goat cheese, pancetta and mushroom ragout. There is always a seasonal salad and vegetable on the night menu should you find yourself in pork overload. The Wurst Window offers walk-up service and outdoor seating, as well as window-only food specials, in good weather. If you can’t get enough of their wurst at the restaurant, take packages of hot dogs and sausages with you to enjoy at home. Because of the limited space and size of The Wurst Kitchen, the wurst menu is only available in The Wurst Kitchen and Chez Pascal bar only (and outside in warmer months). Likewise, the Chez Pascal menu is not available in The Wurst Kitchen. Reservations are only available for the first dinner seating - but you are always welcome to call ahead to see if there is a wait, and if you are less than 15 minutes away and there is space available, they are happy to hold a seat for you.

CirCe restaurant & Bar About the Restaurant
Menu Highlights
When it comes to sophisticated city dining, Circe is in a class all its own. The chic restaurant is a premier destination, serving modern, Italian-infused Mediterranean cuisine in a beautiful setting - the building, built in 1856, was originally a bank, and the soaring two-story windows make an unforgettable impression. Whether for lunch, dinner or brunch - or to see and be seen at the vibrant bar - make Circe your next stop for going out in Providence. Located in the heart of downtown, by day Circe is a place where power lunches make things happen. At night, the crowd changes to couples out for romantic date nights and groups of friends looking to mix and mingle. The restaurant’s proximity to downtown theaters makes it an ideal stop pre- or post-show. The bar menu is available late, and the lively evening bar scene is a lot of fun, with DJs mixing on weekends after dinner service ends. Circe is also one of the only restaurants in downtown Providence to offer complimentary valet parking, and they have a tableside mobile bar cart so you can watch the cocktail magic happen. Owner Carlo Carlozzi worked in fine dining for over a decade, guest bartending all over the East Coast in pursuit of his dream of opening his own restaurant. Carlozzi, Executive Chef Simon Keating and General Manager Kyle Poland have hit all the right notes at Circe. Don’t miss their afternoon special, when on Mondays-Thursdays the bar menu is half-price between 4pm-6pm. Their private party space, in a loft above the main dining room, can host events of up to 125 people. Come experience Circe and see for yourself what everyone is talking about.

The restaurant, on the waterfront in Providence, serves creative twists on comfort food that will have you thinking about your meal long after it’s over. dewolf tavern About the Restaurant The DeWolf Tavern, overlooking picturesque Bristol Harbor, is celebrating ten years of award-winning contemporary American cuisine. Completely restored for its opening in 2004, the restaurant is housed in a 200-year-old warehouse built by the infamous DeWolf family of Bristol. Amber hues, wooden beams and exposed original stonewalls immediately welcome you as you enter the restaurant. Two floors of dining rooms and bars, along with a dockside patio, offer an inviting gourmet experience like no other. Chef Sai Viswanath, an internationally trained master chef, is at the helm of the kitchen that creatively combines the art of slow cooking with the high heat of a tandoor oven. Cooked for a long time over low temperature, chicken, lamb and seafood are infused with modern flavors that are intensified when finished off in the tandoor, a primitive cooking method that can reach up to 900 degrees. The results are always succulent and tender, abounding in intense natural flavors. The innovative cuisine has been nationally acclaimed, with praises in Esquire Magazine and Conde Nast Traveler, and Chef Sai was a 2012 semifinalist for the James Beard “Best Chef in the Northeast” award. DeWolf Tavern hosts a series of ongoing culinary events, such as local beer and wine dinners, and fundraisers like the annual Bristol Oyster Festival that benefits the March of Dimes. Private event space, including the outstanding waterfront tent, provides an exceptional venue for any special occasion. A sensory experience complete with striking sunsets over the harbor, the DeWolf Tavern is a Rhode Island treasure.

The Dorrance About the Restaurant Preserving the gleaming elegance of yesteryear in a contemporary way, The Dorrance sets the gold standard for fine dining in Providence. Housed in a grand 19th century bank, with impeccably preserved historical details like stained glass windows and a vault room open for guests to explore, the restaurant is an elegant destination for a romantic evening out or a gathering with friends. Owned by Jean, Regina and Michael Lester, The Dorrance has been making waves on both the local and national culinary scenes since it opened in 2011, landing on Bon Appetit’s Top 50 New Restaurants list, and being nominated for a James Beard Award for Best New Restaurant in the Country. Because the stunning restaurant is photo op ready, The Dorrance is a highly sought after location for special events, especially weddings. The space can accommodate up to 375 people. Executive Chef Alberto Lopez has crafted a menu that’s at once simple, elegant and irresistible. The dinner menu offers curated, artisan foods from Rhode Island and around the globe, like Point Judith lobster, Faroe Island Salmon, Northeast Family Pork and Australian Lamb. Choose from selections like the Scallops and Succotash – Rhode Island scallops, romano and yellow wax beans, fresh corn, poblano peppers, fingerling potatoes and chorizo – or New York Sirloin, with celery root puree, local cauliflower, cipollini onions, porcini dust and French breakfast radish. The bar menu has fun, casual options like Steak Frites, a Po’Burger and French Quarter Oysters.
The cocKTaIL ProGraM No experience at The Dorrance is complete without a cocktail. As soon as the doors open and until their late-night closing time, their bar is full of patrons who return time and again for The Dorrance’s flavorful, flamboyant libations. Bar Manager Vito Lantz has devised a cocktail program with inventive, surprising spirits, where no choice is expected and all of them are delicious. Some of the cocktails are reinvented takes on old favorites. Take, for example, the Up and Cumber, a drink composed of Crop Organic Cucumber Vodka, St. Elder, lime, simple syrup and Regatta Ginger Beer, which is an elevated form of the classic Moscow Mule. The Mezteca, with El Buho Mezcal, Lunazul Blanco Tequila, pineapple, jalapeño, vanilla and lime, has a similar flavor profile to a margarita, but with a level of sophistication you won’t find in a salt-rimmed glass. The Kentucky Campfire, a smoky evolution of an Old Fashioned, skips the muddled fruit and instead uses Mellow Corn Bottledin-Bond Whiskey, cinnamon syrup, lemon, orange, Jerry Thomas Bitters and tonic, and is finished Laphroaig Scotch for an unforgettable combination of flavors. The Dorrance also barrel ages its Manhattans – definitely do not miss those. (If you’re lucky enough to stop by on April 1, check out Vito’s highly anticipated and always hilarious April Fools’ Cocktail Menu, which has become a local legend in the Providence cocktail scene.) The Dorrance also has live music on the weekends. For dinner and dancing, or an after-work tipple with friends, don’t miss this completely unique culinary destination.

ELLA’s FINE FOOD & DRINk About the Restaurant You won’t find another restaurant quite like Ella’s Fine Food and Drink, the exquisite fine dining establishment in Westerly. First, there’s the concept: seasonally influenced American food with a distinctly Asian flair, prepared with classical French techniques. Next, there’s the team: husband and wife duo James and Jeanie Roland, who own the restaurant (and another in Florida, The Perfect Caper) with Chef Jeanie in the kitchen every night. Then, there are the accolades: Chef Jeanie took on the challenge to Beat Bobby Flay on the Food Network, and won against the Iron Chef himself – never mind that when Taylor Swift wanted a cooking lesson last year during her stay at her Watch Hill home, it was Ella’s she chose to learn from.
THE DINING ROOM But really, there’s the food. Locally sourced dairy, produce and seafood. Certified organic meat. Tastes that change with the seasons. The dinner menu ranges from gourmet comfort food – Momma’s Chicken is buttermilk fried chicken with sweet corn butter, wilted greens and white cheddar grits – to worldly cuisine, like the Duck a Deux Facons, garlic marinated duck breast, confit leg and slow cooked flageolet with seasonal greens, smash of fingerling confit and thyme jus. The Crabby Scallop is jumbo lump crab topped grilled scallops, served with coconut-cilantro infused forbidden black rice, shanghai bok choy and mirin-yuzu apricot beurre blanc. The Filet la Maison is a house filet mignon with asparagus and Drambuie-peppercorn sauce, served with a side of lobster mac and cheese.
THE LOUNGE In the lounge, things are more casual, but equally delicious. The lounge menu offers creative smaller plates like Duck Confit with warm bacon dressing and a duck fat fried egg; Shrimp Tempura with asparagus and miso vin; Baked Clams with wilted kale, mascarpone, ginger and bacon; and Salmon Tartare with a wonton crisp, sweet soy, chili aioli and micro greens. There are salads like the Salade Parisian: frisée, arugula, shaved Gouda, pan fried chicken and hazelnut vin. Ella’s Burger is a local blend of beef with bacon onion jam, a cheddar gruyere blend, and house-made horseradish dijonaise and catsup. The Crispy Chicken Sandwich is duck fat fried, and comes with frites.
CHEF JEANIE ROLAND “I feel the seasonality much more in New England and really enjoy this aspect as a chef,” Chef Jeanie, a five-time James Beard Award nominee, says. “My favorite season in Rhode Island is early fall when we are starting to get the fall produce and still have the summer’s bounty. The Westerly area has great local farms and they inspire myriad specials.” During the warm weather, enjoy dining and drinks on the outdoor patio - but during any season, enjoy creative, gourmet takes on local bounty at Ella’s Fine Food and Drink.

Fresco About the Restaurants Three delicious locations, and one philosophy: exceptional cuisine and distinctive spirits, to create the most memorable dining experience. Fresco in East Greenwich, Fresco in Cranston and DiVine in Warwick serve fresh, locally sourced Italian cuisine to Rhode Islanders. The three restaurants are open for dinner seven nights a week: Fresco at 4:30pm, and DiVine at 5pm, so any night is a good night for a visit, whether for a family meal, a gathering of friends or a romantic evening out. While all three restaurants offer on-site catering for special events, they also prepare food to go to serve at your home parties. And, if you join the Text Club, Fresco will text coupons straight to your cell phone - just text “Fresco” to 545454.
Fresco Fresco has a long history of serving classic dishes and elevated Italian favorites in East Greenwich, and is bringing that experience to their new Cranston restaurant. But even though you’ve probably heard good things from someone who’s been there and loved it, don’t take their word for it. It’s time to try Fresco for yourself. To begin, choose from appetizers like Tuscan Chicken Sausage and Rabe, Shrimp and Creamy Polenta, a Grilled Sea Scallop and Shrimp Stack on a risotto cake, Black Angus Bruschetta or Fried Calamari three ways. Or, enjoy a Meatball Caesar or a Burratta Mozzarella salad, with fresh tomato, basil pesto and extra virgin olive oil. Wood grilled pizzas, like the Pomarolla, with crushed tomato sauce and mozzarella; Honey, with onion, goat cheese and mozzarella; Rabe, White Beans & Italian Sausage; Prosciutto & Arugula; Bolognese and Chicken Pesto are always favorites. Pastas, like Rigatoni Bolognese, Tossed Lasagna or Butternut Squash Tortellacci with caramelized onions, spinach and a parmesan cream sauce, are available in half or full orders. For your entree, choose something spicy - like Clams and Sausage Fra Diavolo - or savory, like Chicken Picatta, Oven Roast Pork Tenderloin with apple chutney, Shrimp Francaise or a Grilled Veal Chop with mushroom demi glaze. 301 Main Street, East Greenwich 401-398-0027 • www.frescori.com 140 Comstock Parkway, Cranston 401-228-3901 • www.frescori.com
Divine DiVine, with all of the Italian comfort foods you crave, is an unmissable dining destination in Warwick. Start your meal with Fried Calamari, Clams Zuppa, Black Angus Bruschetta or Eggplant Wedges with marinara and mozzarella. Order a pizza to share - like a Bianco, Hot Italian Sausage, Caesar Salad or Bolognese or just keep it for yourself. For your entree, choose from options like Vegetable Risotto, Venetian Chicken with roasted garlic, caramelized onions and fresh thyme, Baked Scrod with pesto-seasoned breadcrumbs, Sauteed Clams with onion, tomato, hot peppers and white wine sauce, or a Grilled New York Sirloin with garlic butter. But really, you’re going to want to explore the “Pastabilities”, an endlessly customizable pasta experience, where you can choose your pasta (like penne, gnocchi or pappardelle), choose your sauce (marinara, alfredo, pink vodka, puttanesca, fra diavolo or aioli), and choose your add-ons (meatballs, chicken, sausage, vegetables, shrimp, scallops or littlenecks). 2317 West Shore Road, Warwick 401-921-3300 • www.divineri.com

iron works tavern About the Restaurant a modern tavern Step back into history while experiencing the best American cuisine at Iron Works Tavern. Centrally located in Warwick, Iron Works makes its home in a 19th century mill - but the restaurant itself, and especially the food, are thoroughly modern. True to its name, Iron Works Tavern serves upscale comfort food - but with a fresh perspective. The restaurant sources produce from local farms, and Rhode Island-caught seafood. On your next visit, start with the Sesame Crusted Tuna Sashimi, with seaweed salad, sriracha aioli and a sweet soy vinaigrette; the Bacon Wrapped Scallops, with green onion, a cornbread crumble and bourbon-maple butter; or the Crispy Brussels Sprouts, in the chef’s daily preparation. The Crispy Point Judith Calamari, done a little differently with peppadew aioli and arugula, is always a favorite. Their Raw Bar is perfectly fresh in any season. For your entree, try the Roasted Atlantic Salmon served with an “everything crust,” roasted peppers and fingerling potatoes, asparagus and a lemon herb aioli. For a twist on a classic, try the Phyllo-Wrapped Shrimp, colossal shrimp with crab stuffing, a thyme-lemon butter sauce, scallion rice and asparagus. Who could resist Bacon Infused Meatloaf, served with garlic mashed potatoes, roasted mushrooms, buttered green beans, crispy onions and a veal jus; or the 12-Hour Braised Beef Short Rib, with garlic mashed, toasted garlic spinach and braising jus. The Baked Seafood Casserole - haddock, shrimp, scallops topped with buttery cracker crumbs - is always a crowd pleaser. The Iron Works Tavern Mac and Cheese, their signature recipe, can be customized with chicken, bacon and chive; pulled beef short rib; or lazy man’s lobster.
History of tHe Building Built by industrialist Thomas Jefferson Hill in 1867 for the manufacture of malleable iron castings, the RI Malleable Iron Works Factory provided the nucleus for the village that was to grow around it. This factory, the adjoining mill housing in the neighboring blocks, and the train depot next door were all part of Hill’s vision, who gave his name to the village “Hillsgrove.” The Malleable Iron Works factory burned in 1918 and was almost immediately rebuilt. The Iron Works Tavern is located in the original main office building, where Hill’s office was located on the second floor. Much of the original foundry has been preserved, such as the 8–foot 300–pound solid oak front door, the ceilings and beams, along with the brick. Many other details have been replicated to match the time period. The Iron Works Tavern is a reflection of this area’s rich history and a beacon of its promising future.
upstairs at tHe tavern The Tavern’s second level, that features the original and restored Administrative Offices of the Rhode Island Malleable Iron Works, serves as a unique space for special occasions and private functions. The space can be used for cocktail receptions and plated dinners for 16–125 guests. The main semi-private room, known as the “Great Room,” serves as the focal point of Upstairs at the Tavern. With original restoration of the woodwork, this beautiful space includes a fireplace for ambiance, a full bar and an open marble kitchen. There are also three private dining rooms available for smaller, intimate functions or meetings.

Jigger’s Diner History of the Diner Jigger’s is a Rhode Island dining institution – and we’re not just saying that because of their classic Johnny cakes, which draw people from all over the state for a true taste of Ocean State culinary heritage. The diner started in 1917, when owner Vilgot “Jigger” Lindberg decided to take over the lunch cart next to his successful hamburger restaurant, Lindy’s. When he moved the lunch cart to Wickford in the 1920s, Jigger built a diner in Jigger’s present location, where men in bow ties served full dinners to crowds that were two and three people deep behind each stool, waiting to get a taste. Jigger’s changed hands several times between the 1950s and the ‘80s, finally closing in 1983. The space served as storage for the adjacent paint store for nearly a decade, until Carol Shriner bought the diner and lovingly restored it to its former glory. In 2012, Stephen and Karie Head purchased Jigger’s. Karie has a decade of experience owning a restaurant, while Stephen, a retired police officer, has been learning the hospitality business day by day and loves interacting with new and returning customers. “We strive to continue the Jigger’s legacy of serving quality diner food,” they say. “Our goal is to serve you delicious, hearty dishes that will bring you back for more.”
About the Restaurant Jigger’s strives to make creative twists on old favorites, and to use the freshest ingredients, with the least amount of preservatives. For breakfast, try one of their takes on Eggs Benedict, like Country Ham Eggs Benedict with classic pit ham; Santa Fe with Johnny cakes, spinach, black beans and avocado; or Smoked Salmon Florentine Eggs Benedict with spinach, cream cheese, hollandaise, avocado and capers. Jigger’s Signature Three Egg Omelets come in variations like the Meat Lovers Supreme with sausage, bacon, ham and American; the veggieladen Garden Egg White Omelet; or the Chicken Fajita Omelet with chicken, green peppers, onions and cheddar, topped with salsa, avocado and a side of sour cream. Try a traditional breakfast sandwich, or the Triple Decker Monte Cristo. They also serve Belgian waffles, buttermilk pancakes, French toast, gingerbread pancakes and Johnny cakes with simple toppings (fresh fruit, chocolate syrup, maple syrup) or outrageous ones (fire roasted Fuji apples, a scoop of ice cream, crushed Reese’s Peanut Butter cups). For lunch, you could choose the healthy route with an Apple Walnut and Chicken salad, or you could indulge in a fresh pressed burger, like the Buffalo Bleu, BBQ Bacon Cheddar Scraper or Meximelt Turkey Burger. Grilled panini like the Georgia Turkey ’n Slaw (with Swiss, house coleslaw and Thousand Island), the Garden Panini (spinach, broccoli, tomato, avocado and mozzarella) or the Grown Up Grilled Cheese (aged cheddar, bacon, tomato and spinach) are great options, as are a variety of sandwiches like the Grilled Salmon and Avocado Wrap. Don’t leave without an ice cream float made with Yacht Club Soda and Eclipse syrup, or a classic Rhode Island Ice Cream Cabinet.

Kitchenbar About the Restaurant
Menu Highlights
KitchenBar is one of the newest and most delicious additions to Providence’s thriving Hope Street community, serving great food at great prices. The sleek restaurant offers an impressive, varied selection of contemporary Mediterranean cuisine for lunch and dinner daily. Owner Sammy Katsaras has been running successful restaurants in Rhode Island for over 30 years. A Greek immigrant who takes a lot of pride in knowing his life’s dream has employed dozens of people throughout the years, including the oldest of his four children, Sammy’s restaurants have always had a remarkable customer following. Sammy’s Pizzeria was a Hope Street mainstay for years, serving up distinctive hand-tossed pizzas and calzones. When a space next door opened up in 2011, Sammy decided to expand into it and create a sophisticated yet casual eatery. With a variety of Greek signature dishes and a modern take on comfort food, the neighborhood eatery has become a favorite for families and foodies alike. Menu favorites include the housemade meatloaf, lamb burger, steak frites and build your own calzones and pizzas. The Dakos Greek salad, a hearty mix of lettuces, cucumber, red onion, Kalamata olives, feta and their own tzatziki sauce, is a one of the authentic specialty dishes here. Maharaja IndIan restaurant About the Restaurant For a taste of authentic Indian food in South County, visit Maharaja Indian Restaurant. Located in Aqua Blue in Narragansett, directly across from the sea wall, Maharaja is one of a very few restaurants serving Indian cuisine in the southern part of the state – but the food will have you coming back again and again. For newcomers to Indian cuisine, there are a few basics you shouldn’t miss. Naan, similar to pita bread, comes in flavors like garlic and cilantro, and ginger and honey, or stuffed with paneer (like a mild feta cheese), chicken or lamb. It’s baked in a clay oven, and essential to any Indian meal. Start with some appetizers - don’t miss the samosas (deep fried turnovers stuffed with potatoes and peas, with vegetables, chicken or lamb) or pakoras (fritters with paneer cheese, vegetables or chicken). For your entree, try a Biryani, which is a onedish, rice-based meal that consists of layering rice and meat (pick vegetables, lamb, chicken, shrimp, goat or a combination) in a casserole and then baking it in the oven. Chicken Tikka Masala is probably the best known Indian dish, and that’s because it’s a sure winner: chicken roasted in the tandoor oven, with a creamy, savory sauce of tomatoes and herbs. Shrimp saag, a sauce of spinach, tomatoes and ginger, is another mild and delicious choice. For those who know and love Indian cuisine, you’ll be surprised at how
extensive Maharaja’s menu is, and how many selections you’ll find on the menu, which is regionally based in Northern India, that you won’t find many other places. Bhel Poori is a cold appetizer of rice flakes tossed with onions and tomatoes, then topped with tamarind and mint sauces. The Coconut Soup is made with milk, nuts and sweet spices. Maharaja has an extensive selection of tandoor choices, which can be appetizers for two, or entrees for one. The Kadhai Chicken is cubed chicken tikka cooked with peppers, tomatoes, onions and mushrooms in a traditional Indian pan, and is served sprinkled with freshly ground spices and herbs. Dal Makhni is black lentils cooked with fresh herbs and spices, sauteed in butter and garnished with fresh coriander. Or, choose from lamb, chicken, vegetables and fish curry, korma, saag or vindaloo, depending on your spice preference. The proof of Maharaja’s quality is in its legions of happy customers. Yelp, normally a very tough critic, is heaped with praise from happy customers, who love both the food – there are an especially high number of guests who gush about the restaurant’s authenticity - and the service. Tourists say over and over how they wish they could eat at the restaurant more often. Lucky for you, it’s close enough to home that you won’t have to wait for your return visit to Maharaja.

About the Restaurant McBride’s Pub is a beloved neighborhood restaurant with some unique twists. Housed in the former garage of the Monahan, Drabble and Sherman Funeral Home, the restaurant and bar is a lively spot that serves a wide variety of American and Irish comfort food. Brothers Mark and Bob Russell, owners of the adjoined funeral home, were inspired to open their restaurant during a family trip to Ireland when they came across a charming pub named McBride’s in the town of Balleyjamesduff. Behind the small pub was a funeral home with the same name, and also owned by a set of brothers. With a shared vision to bring great pub fare stateside, the brothers repurposed the underused garage space to create the bustling Wayland Square spot. Their sizeable menu offers consistently superb food with an Irish twist, like the crowd-pleasing McBride’s Irish Nachos, Gorgonzola Filet Salad, Corned Beef Rueben, Fish and Chips and Corned Beef and Cabbage. House-made desserts, like the customer favorite Agnes McBride’s Apple Pie, are devilishly good. The full bar carries eight beers on draft and an impressive selection of bottled beers, wines and spirits. Tongue-in-cheek signature cocktails include A Good Stiff Drink, which has a generous pour of Jameson’s Irish Whiskey, and the Six Feet Under, a mixed drink that’s sure to dull your worries. Every night at 10pm, the establishment runs a poignant “last call,” where the bar and patrons recognize someone who has “gone to the other side.” McBride’s also features a gorgeous outdoor patio overlooking the Square, live entertainment three days a week and trivia on Wednesday nights.

napolitano’s brooklyn pizza About the Restaurant New Yorkers know the difference, and now so do customers of Napolitano’s Brooklyn Pizza. The popular restaurant, which has two busy locations in Cranston and Federal Hill, handcrafts authentic New York-style pizza that is quite unique to Rhode Island. The perfect pie begins with dough, sauce and mozzarella cheese that’s expertly made in-house. Next, gourmet toppings such as roasted peppers, marinated artichokes, caramelized onions and BBQ grilled chicken are added for an intense taste. After cooking in a hot pizza oven for mere minutes, a mouthwatering, oozing pie is cut and served to adorning customers. Indeed, no shortcut is taken here. Sausages and meats are ground in-house for Napolitano’s signature sausage and pepper hero sandwich and half-pound burgers. House-made bacon, hand-cut fries and even ice cream are all made on the premises. Grinders, fish and chips, baked ziti, antipasto salad and calzones are just a sampling of the old family, traditional food options you can find on the menu. the nordic lodge About the Restaurant
Buffet Menu Highlights
Famous for its endless all-you-can-eat bounty of premium seafood, steaks and desserts, the Nordic Lodge is so much more than its legendary buffet. Settled on 90 acres of beautifully landscaped, wooded grounds, The Nordic is an experience and a tradition that is enjoyed by visitors from all over New England and beyond. The food quality and selection is nothing short of outstanding. A literal “taste of Rhode Island,” no expense is spared to provide diners with a feast of the freshest seafood and best cuts of meats available. The service is equally unparalleled, where “you’re treated like royalty at a buffet fit for a king.” The lakeside grounds, which can be enjoyed before or after your meal, include hammocks, fire pits, fountains, alpacas and live outdoor entertainment on Sundays. It all started in 1963, when the Persson family opened a restaurant that could only be accessed by a dirt road. Passed down from generation to generation, it’s currently owned by a trio of siblings: Lisa, Nancy and Steven. Eight of their own kids also work at the restaurant, where the entire staff is treated like family. With over 60 loyal employees, some of whom have been working there for decades, the owners take pride in being a sustainable small business in Southern Rhode Island. The historic yet modern restaurant continues to receive international acclaim, and has most recently been titled Yankee Magazine’s “Best Feast,” featured on the Travel Channel’s Buffet Paradise and listed on Huffington Post’s “10 Belly-Busting Buffets Around the World.”

pat’s italian restaurant About the Restaurant
Menu Highlights
It’s one of those hidden gem restaurants, nestled in a quiet neighborhood in Johnston, that people try to keep a secret so they can always get a table. Pat’s Italian Restaurant, owned by Greg and Christine Stevens, has been providing Rhode Islanders with authentic Italian cuisine for eight years now. They recently renovated and expanded to over 8,500 square feet, adding a banquet room for parties up to 60 and beautiful modern lounge that sits 26 at the bar. True to its name, Pat’s Italian serves perfectly classic versions of Italian favorites. The restaurant’s claim to fame, though, has always been their sauce, which was named Best Sauce in Rhode Island by The Providence Journal. Considering the many Italian restaurants in this state, that is no small feat. Pat’s also spares no expense in using all natural beef, chicken and seafood, and locally produced dairy and eggs, and has been committed to this kind of quality since the beginning Head Chef Attilio Cardono and Sous Chef Tim Haley are proud to prepare all of Pat’s dishes from scratch, which are made to order. Phil’s Main street Grille About the Restaurant Two delicious destinations under one roof. PHIL’S is located in the heart of Wakefield Village, where you can be sure your food is freshly prepared. Their regular customers have sworn by their varied selection of appetizers, salads, entrees, sandwiches and specialty offerings for years now. From vegan dishes to prime rib of beef served with a huge popover, every dish is a healthy portion and prepared to perfection. PHIL’S claim to fame is serving “the best Fish N' Chips in Southern Rhody” and their breakfast and lunch menu has won Best of Rhode Island.
the Diner The first floor of PHIL’S MAIN STREET GRILLE is a diner, serving breakfast and lunch every day, starting at 6:30am. The diner serves breakfast classics, like omelets (try the Mediterranean Omelet, with roasted red peppers, spinach, feta and Bernaise sauce), Breakfast Burrito (a flour tortilla stuffed with scrambled eggs, Monterey jack and cheddar, seasoned black beans, avocado and tomatoes, topped with salsa fresca and chipotle sour cream) Texas French toast, pancakes and Belgian waffles with fruit or chocolate chips on top. Their famous seasoned hand-cut homefries are unmissable. For lunch, enjoy a burger, club sandwich or PHIL’S Philly cheese steak. There’s even a $2.75 early bird special if you make it into the restaurant before 8am.
the loft Upstairs in the loft, brunch starts at 10am on weekdays, and 8am on weekends. Your first order of business should be a Bloody Mary or a Mimosa. From there, choose from creative morning eats like Salmon and Eggs (roasted salmon topped with basil pesto and panko crumbs, served with two eggs and homefries) or Chicken Rancheros (warm corn tortilla cups filled with cheese, seasoned black beans, lettuce, salsa fresca and cajun grilled chicken breast, topped with PHIL’S ranchero sauce). For lunch, try the California Chicken Wrap, with cheddar, tomato, alfalfa sprouts, avocado and garlic herb aioli; or the Cowboy Burger, with barbecue sauce, cheddar, bacon and onion rings on top. For dinner, start things off with some seafood: PHIL’S famous calamari, house-made stuffies, crab cakes or fish bites, which are Atlantic cod marinated with banana peppers, dill and lemon, lightly dusted and deep fried, then served with spicy tartar sauce. Or, try some Vegan Chili or the Roasted Beet Salad, which is red and yellow beets, baby arugula, crumbled goat cheese, applewood smoked bacon and a sherry vinaigrette. For your entree, choose from creative twists on favorite foods, like the Lobster Mac & Cheese or the Pine Nut-encrusted Haddock with white and wild rice, roasted asparagus and a roasted tomato buerre blanc. The Chicken Marsala comes with cippolini onion mashed potatoes, sauteed shiitake mushrooms, local greens, vegetable of the day and a sage tomato butter. Prime Rib with a huge popover (otherwise know as Yorkshire Pudding) is available on Friday and Saturday nights in Queen or Caveman cuts.
the rooftoP The star of the show, though, is PHIL’S ROOF TOP DECK, overlooking scenic Wakefield. Order breakfast, lunch or dinner up there any day of the week, or just relax at the expansive roof bar and enjoy a cocktail after dinner. They serve quite a collection of specialty drinks and draft beers.

Providence coal Fired Pizza About the Restaurant It’s time to turn up the heat – when it comes to pizza, that is. Providence Coal Fired Pizza, with locations in Providence and North Kingstown, bakes pizzas (and so much more) in a unique, unforgettably delicious way. The restaurants bring an Old World tradition to Rhode Island. Their ovens, which use anthracite coal, burn at 900°, which is much hotter than wood. The temperature bakes the dough at a very high heat, producing a crust that is firm on the outside, yet light and airy on the inside, with just a hint of char and a complexity of flavor that you won’t find at any ordinary pizzeria. Choose from pizzas like the Baby Bella (oyster mushrooms, truffle oil, ricotta and mozzarella cheeses), Clam (rosemary, fingerling potatoes, roasted red onions, pancetta, local clams and parmigiano reggiano) or The Steak (shaved steak, roasted onions, crimini mushrooms, hot peppers, provolone and Great Hill blue cheese). In addition to their signature pizza – which, once you’ve had, you won’t be able to forget – Providence Coal Fired Pizza has an extensive menu, including wings, ribs, roasted vegetables, baked cheeses and dessert. Their Coal Fired Wings, prepared with rosemary, sea salt and roasted onions, are rendered in their coal oven with the skin crispy on the outside and tender on the inside. They have a grill-like flavor that cannot be duplicated elsewhere. Sit at the pizza bar with a cocktail, and watch your pizza being made in the custom oven. Once you join them for lunch five times, the sixth is on them – just ask for a Lunch 5 card.

Kabob and Curry, rasa, rasoi About the Restaurants Chef/owner Sanjiv Dhar opened his first restaurant, Kabob and Curry, on Thayer Street in Providence in 1987. The restaurant, serving classically prepared, enticing Indian food, is now Rhode Island’s longest serving Indian restaurant. Dhar – who trained in India, Austria and the US, and is a chef instructor, author and cooking show host – has expanded his restaurant empire with Rasoi in Pawtucket, and Rasa in East Greenwich. He has also recently launched a full service catering company, Indian Accent Catering (find out more at www.indianaccentcatering.com). All three restaurants are popular destinations for those with dietary restrictions, because so many dishes can be made vegan, vegetarian or gluten free. For an authentic taste of Indian cuisine, try one or all of these delicious destinations.
Kabob and Curry Serving lunch and dinner seven days a week, Kabob and Curry is a lively destination any day or night. It’s located on Thayer Street, in the heart of Providence’s East Side, which is the epi-center of Brown and RISD student culture. In addition to serving classic Indian dishes like saag, tikka masala and vindaloo, Kabob and Curry also serves Tothali combination plates, which are samplers that allow you to experience a lot of different tastes for a low price, and naanini (sandwiches made with naan, and stuffed with either chicken and peppers or paneer cheese and chick peas) and has an extensive selection of gluten-free, vegetarian and vegan choices. Instead of the lunch menu on Sundays, the restaurant offers an all-you-can-eat buffet. 261 Thayer Street, Providence • 401-273-8844 www.indianrestaurantsri.com/kabobandcurry
rasa A chic destination on Main Street in East Greenwich, Rasa is Chef Dhar’s newest restaurant. Rasa is a sanskrit word meaning “essence” – and the idea is truly reflected in the gorgeous interior of the restaurant, the irresistible smells that waft onto the sidewalk, and the excellent cuisine available inside. Open every day but Monday for both lunch and dinner, Rasa serves food with refined Indian flavors. There are vegetarian (and vegan) options like Artichoke and Vegetable Uttapam, with a rice pancake, corn, carrots, onion and cilantro; meat dishes like a whole Tandoori chicken in its classic yogurt, ginger, garlic and yellow chili marinade, and Kashmiri Lamb Kofta meatballs with pistachio and a yogurt sauce; and seafood like Lobster Hawa Mahal, prepared with onion, tomato, ginger and green chili, or Tamarind Salmon, grilled with coriander, cumin and a tamarind glaze. 149 Main Street, East Greenwich • 401-398-2822 www.indianrestaurantsri.com/rasa
rasoi Rasoi, from the Hindi word for “home,” is a comfortable, relaxed destination for impeccable, healthful food. In Pawtucket’s Oak Hill neighborhood, just after the end of Blackstone Boulevard on the East Side, Rasoi is open daily for lunch and dinner. From their open kitchen comes cuisine from coastal India, where fresh spices are paramount and boiling and steaming are the preferred methods of food preparation, rather than frying. Expect fresh seafood and lots of it – like Bengali Seafood Stew, with shrimp, tilapia, scallops, mussels, butternut squash, spinach and lima beans, with five spices along with vegetarian, chicken, lamb and mutton (Halal) choices. On Saturday afternoons, Rasoi offers and all-youcan-eat vegan, gluten-free buffet; on Sundays, the all-you-can-eat buffet also serves meat and fish. They’re a great way to experience dishes you might not otherwise try – but will soon love. 727 East Avenue, Pawtucket • 401-728-5500 www.indianrestaurantsri.com/rasoi

simone’s About the Restaurant Simone’s Restaurant is that rare blend: a relaxed, friendly, comfortable restaurant that serves impeccably fresh, local, refined fare. Chef Joe Simone honed his culinary chops all over the country, spending years as a private chef in Europe, San Francisco and Nantucket before coming home to Rhode Island to open The Sunnyside, the much-beloved (and much missed) breakfast and lunch spot in Warren. He closed The Sunnyside to open Simone’s, which serves breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner (depending on the day of the week). All of Chef Joe’s refined tastes converge at Simone’s, which has a locavore sensibility and a global palate. The Cioppino with sea scallops, cod, mussels and clams is a traditionally San Franciscan recipe, but as Simone explains, his owes a lot to the preparation at his favorite restaurant in Marseilles, France. Much of the menu is prepared using the restaurant’s forno, a high-heat Italian oven that creates everything from Oven Baked Eggs with leeks, mushrooms and pancetta for breakfast to Chive Gnocchi from the forno with lobster and mushrooms for dinner. “We really want to bridge the gap between the producer and the guest,” Chef Joe says. “We want to know who grows everything we’re serving. If you come in for dinner, there’s a very real chance that the clams were in Narragansett Bay this morning.” You’ll find bread from Seven Stars Bakery in Rumford for breakfast and brunch, poultry from Baffoni Farms in Johnston, fruit and produce from Seekonk’s Four Town Farm, clams from Andrade’s Catch in Bristol and beef and
pork from Blackbird Farm in Smithfield on the menu. Simone’s also regularly holds Monday night cooking classes, where several courses of food are paired with wines from Grapes and Grains in Barrington. For breakfast and brunch, choose from gourmet twists on the classics - like Wood Grilled Blackbird Farm Flank Steak and Eggs, Jonah Crab Cakes Benedict or Chourico Hash with Mello’s chourico and poached eggs. Or, step outside of the ordinary with selections like the Mediterranean Breakfast with olive oil-basted eggs, grilled bread and marinated tomatoes; Buttermilk Souffle Pancakes with blueberries or chocolate chips; or a Dutch Baby baked pancake, filled with either seasonal fruit or ham and cheese. Hoppin’ John’s Crockpot Grits come with eggs and wood grilled ham. The unmissable Wood Grilled Grapefruit comes with Rhode Island honey to drizzle on top. Things really get delicious at dinner. Start with the Chicken and Herb Meatballs with a spicy tomato ragu, or Fried Beets with goat cheese and arugula. For a first course, try the housemade ravioli (with seasonal sauces and fillings), Linguini alla Vongole with Narragansett Bay clams, or Handmade Pasta alla Bolognese. If you still have room - and make sure you still have room - move onto a second course, like a Roasted Salmon Fillet with braised vegetables, farro and caramelized lemon; Wood Grilled Lobster with spiked olive oil, mushrooms, roasted peppers, wilted escarole and quinoa; or Grilled Flank Steak Frites with mushroom, charred onion and arugula salad with house fries and house ketchup.

SOPHIA’S TuScAn grIlle About the Restaurant Nobody appreciates the supreme enjoyment of cooking and eating more than the Italians. The best Italian cuisine comes from fresh, high quality ingredients, prepared simply to let the food shine. In Rhode Island, you don’t have to drive to Federal Hill for great Italian food. At Sophia’s Tuscan Grille, expect to find delicious comfort food like house-made gnocchi and sauces from scratch in a cozy, welcoming setting. At Sophia’s, Chef Chris Palios brings the old world flavors of northern Italy to Rhode Island in a modern way. Begin your meal with an Antipasti like Polenta Al Forno, creamy wood-grilled parmesan polenta finished with a rustic sweet sausage ragout, fresh basil and Tuscan olive oil, or Eggplant Involtini, hand battered eggplant rolled around prosciutto-herb ricotta cheese finished with parmesano reggiano and San Marzano tomato sauce. Try a Peasant-Style Rustic Flatbread, or a pasta like Ravioli Milano, which is roasted garlic and grana padano stuffed ravioli sautéed with spiced broccoli rabe, Tuscan olive oil and shaved parmesan. Sophia’s serves traditional Secondi courses like Chicken Saltimbocca, and inventive preparations like Tuscan Boccalone - linguini tossed with pan-seared veal, chicken breast, and large shrimp, then simmered with porcini mushrooms and baby spinach in a rich marsala cream, finished with toasted pine nuts. Guests rave about what a great deal the BYOB restaurant is. Don’t miss Sophia’s prix fixe deal: on Wednesday and Thursday, two people can enjoy three courses for $39.95. The restaurant also serves breakfast on Sunday mornings. Chef Chris Palios honed his culinary chops at Johnson & Wales, but his cooking education began much earlier, with his Sicilian grandmother giving him lessons in the kitchen as early as age seven. He’s also worked with Emeril Lagasse and Todd English. Chef Chris offers seasonal cooking classes, based on his experiences cooking and eating in northern Italy. The lessons include a three-to-five course cooking demonstration of regional Italian cuisine, a chef’s tasting with wine pairings of all the dishes, a recipe booklet to recreate these dishes at home, and a new perspective on Italian cuisine. For your new neighborhood favorite, visit Sophia’s Tuscan Grille.

T’s ResTauRanT About the Restaurant
Breakfast-Brunch Menu Highlights
T’s Restaurant, RI family owned and operated, has been sharing the journey, one plate at a time, with generations of Rhode Islanders since 1982. At the beginning, it was just one small restaurant in Cranston. Today, after serving delicious food at a tremendous value and making a difference in the community, T’s Restaurant has become a Rhody staple with its three large neighborhood hubs in Cranston, East Greenwich and Narragansett. Founders Anthony and Tina Tomaselli, along with Managing Partner Mark Blanchard, and second generation Tomasellis Anthony and Tara, take enormous pride in the impact T’s has had in the state. From the hundreds of team members who shared in the journey through the years, to the genuine connections made with guests, to the tens of thousands of dollars donated to breast cancer awareness, hunger programs and children’s charities, the restaurant’s reach has been truly remarkable. The locations are each uniquely designed but have a common thread: Elder Anthony’s striking paintings. A well-known artist throughout the Northeast with a studio at the prestigious Providence Art Club, Anthony’s art is lovingly displayed at each restaurant. The colorful paintings and drawings, some small, others quite large, depict New England landscapes and provide a homey, welcoming feel to each location. The artistic touch can also be seen in the food itself. All-day breakfast, brunch and lunch favorites get a creative and delicious spin at T’s. The seasons are embraced in unique and delightful ways, like Lobster Eggs Benedict during the summer and the heavenly Pumpkin Pancakes in the fall. Everyday essentials include homemade jumbo muffins served warm, organic dark roast coffee, artisan breads, corned beef hash made in-house and overflowing plates of farm fresh egg specialties made fresh to order. Warm chairs, big tastes, full bellies, grateful smiles. For 33 years, T’s has covered the basics in an extraordinary way.

tavern on the water About the Restaurant
Menu Highlights
Tavern on the Water is a hidden gem in Smithfield. From the front, it’s an unassuming-looking tavern. But once you step inside, you’re inside another world: soaring cathedral ceilings frame huge windows overlooking Waterman Lake. There are two outdoor dining spaces, one of which goes right out into the water. Owner Linda Marchioni and Chef Jeffrey Paquette opened Tavern on the Water in December, from Linda’s dream of turning her lifelong work in the hospitality industry into owning her own restaurant. “I couldn’t believe what I saw when I walked in for the first time,” Linda says. “It was everything I was envisioning my restaurant would look like. I always said I wanted ‘just a little restaurant right on the water.’” Linda and Chef Jeff designed the restaurant around his cooking, which combines Portuguese and French flavors and ideas into upscale American comfort food. “I wanted Tavern on the Water to be a place where everyone felt comfortable going,” Linda says, “whether it’s a family with kids, or a couple on their first date, or a girls’ night out. There’s a little something here for everyone.” Tavern on the Water has live music on weekends, and hosts private events in their beautiful space. “We try to put great detail into everything we do,” Linda says. “That’s where Chef Jeff and I really complement each other. TriniTy brewhouse About the Restaurant A fixture in downtown Providence for 20 years, Trinity Brewhouse serves elevated pub fare in a fun, lively atmosphere. The upstairs, with a patio overlooking bustling Fountain and Empire Streets, is the restaurant; downstairs is another bar and event space that offers weekly entertainment, like pub trivia on Tuesdays and free pool on Sundays. Chef Tony Goncalves has put together a selection of creative, delicious menu options. Start your meal off with Double Loaded Ravioli, filled with potato, cheddar and chives, deep fried, and then baked with two cheeses and topped with sour cream, bacon and scallions; or their signature Trinity Nachos that you can customize with chicken, pulled pork or chili. If you’re in the mood to share, create your own pizza, or opt for the Carnivore Pizza Special, topped with sausage, buffalo chicken, pepperoni and bacon. If not, order a Brewer’s Burger – an Angus burger topped with bacon, Vermont cheddar and Texas BBQ sauce on a brioche bun – or a Turkey Pastrami sandwich, served hot on marble rye with two cheeses, stout caramelized onions and Russian dressing. The Beer Battered Fried Fish Sandwich is cod fillets in a crispy beer batter with house tartar sauce on a brioche bun. For heartier appetites, try the Stout and Teriyaki Steak Tips, marinated in garlic teriyaki and house stout, served with bell peppers, oven roasted tomatoes and rice. Trinity’s Vegetarian Gumbo has spinach, black eyed peas, peppers and tomatoes slow simmered in a vegetable ale broth, tossed with smoked paprika tofu and served over wild rice. The Brewhouse Flat Iron is a house cut flat iron steak, topped with house stout, caramelized onion and gorgonzola butter, served with steak fries and asparagus. The restaurant offers weekly dining specials, so you’ll always find something new to try, no matter how many times you go back.

All of their beers are brewed in house under the direction of Brewmaster Tommy Tainsh. You can see the magic happening behind the bar, as you first walk in to the restaurant. The selection is always changing with the season, but you might find: Kolsch • Tommy’s Red Ale • RI IPA • The Milkman Big Bertha • Double Barrel IPA • Double Black Diamond But, you don’t have to be at the restaurant to sip Trinity beer. Their IPA is widely available at liquor stores across Rhode Island, and the restaurant has 32oz. and 64oz. growlers available for purchase for you to enjoy at home. Trinity also has a Mug Club membership, where for an annual fee you receive a year’s worth of discounts on beer, food and fun.

Twin willows Menu Highlights
About the Restaurant A neighborhood favorite is more than just a restaurant. It’s a gathering place for old friends, and friends you haven’t made yet. Twin Willows, in the Bonnet Shores neighborhood of Narragansett, is the new favorite you haven’t discovered yet. Purchased by Phil and Pat Durigan in 1984, Twin Willows specializes in seafood, freshly caught and perfectly prepared, and best enjoyed on their patio overlooking Bonnet Shores and Jamestown. Now run by Pat and her son David, the restaurant has been feeding happy customers for 31 years. As Pat says, “We’re pretty proud of that.” “When we purchased the restaurant, it was a tavern frequented by URI kids,” she says. “We turned it into a restaurant. It’s family friendly, casual. We have a game room for the kids; we have a lot of regulars who have been coming for 31 years. It’s a comfortable neighborhood restaurant. People know each other.” Twin Willows also offers entertainment on Saturday nights, and on Sunday afternoons after football season. While Twin Willows serves great seafood – they’re particularly well-known for their fish and chips and lobster salad rolls – they also serve up a full menu of American favorites influenced by New England’s culinary traditions. Every weekday from 4-6pm, Twin Willows offers a pub menu with $5 plates of wings, nachos, crab cake sliders, Maine shrimp salsa with chips and more. For lunch, they have 10 plates under $10. Vanuatu Coffee RoasteRs About the Restaurant
Custom Roasts
Sometimes a cup of coffee isn’t just a cup of coffee. Sometimes it’s a way to help people halfway around the world build a better life for themselves. Vanuatu Coffee Roasters, on Federal Hill in Providence, is a local coffee shop with a global mission. When co-owners (and brother and sister team) Martha Soderlund and Jimmy Lappin visited the South Pacific nation of Vanuatu, they weren’t expecting to find incredible coffee – but they did, and loved it so much that they decided to bring the beans home… in a big way. The two started Vanuatu Coffee Roasters with two missions: to grow, roast and serve impeccable coffee, and to better the lives of the farmers who grow it. They teamed up with the island’s coffee cooperative, sourcing beans exclusively from 10 villages on the island, bringing much-needed income stability to Vanuatu’s fledgling coffee industry. Vanuatu calls their beans “beyond organic,” because there are no pesticides, herbicides, fertilizers, irrigation or compost involved in the coffee farming – just South Pacific rains and the natural richness of the soil from the island’s volcano. Their Direct Trade model circumvents a lot of steps of the Fair Trade Process (like buyers, importers, exporters, wholesalers) and takes the beans directly from the farmer to the co-op to the roaster in Providence. But their farmers are only one good reason to check out Vanuatu for your morning cup, or for an afternoon pick me up. The other? The coffee is insanely great. Much better than anything you can get from a drive through. Stop in for a cup, and a bite, and taste the difference for yourself.
Blonde Bombshell This single profile roast, their lightest, highlights the character of the bean and its Arabica varietals. Aromas of light fruit and spice tempt the nose, while this light bodied coffee delivers the goods with bright acidity, light caramel and nut.
Center Stage
Silhouette
Just opening the bag, strong hints of molasses and caramel tease you, revealing some of the sweetness hidden within these beans. This single profile roast is medium-to-full bodied, with aromatic nuances of gingerbread, cinnamon, cacao and caramel, and a mellow flavor of subtle fruitiness with a hint of chocolate and earth. There is a nicely balanced acidity complementing the melange of flavors that gives way to a very pleasant, nutty aftertaste lacking any bitterness.
This single profile medium-dark roast, perfect for espresso, is full bodied with a nose of caramel, cacao and cardamom. The fruit present in the medium roast steps back a bit, allowing flavors of malt, cacao, earth and a wonderful nuttiness to shine. Whether it be in an espresso shot or an Americano, this distinctive coffee possesses an understated boldness to complement anyone’s day.
Dark Compulsion Due to the delicate nature of low altitude beans, they cannot be fully dark roasted, so teasing out a bold, dark, toasty flavor while not outright burning the bean is an art form and a real challenge. That said, their tenacity has paid off with this amazing dark roast blend. Three different roasts, each meticulously slow roasted, make this full bodied coffee unbelievably complex. Get lost in a world of darkness, as bittersweet cacao, leather, earth and roasted chestnut envelop your senses.

the village About the Restaurant
Menu Highlights
The Village is one of the newest, most exciting restaurants in Providence. Open since October 2014, the spot has quickly become a fun, foodie destination. Executive Chef Maura Shea is at the helm of the kitchen that puts an unexpected twist on upscale comfort food. Burgers, pizzas and sandwiches get a gourmet makeover here. The halfpound Angus burgers are creatively served on grilled pretzel rolls. The crisp, flatbread style pizza ranges from the classic Margherita to the unique Thanksgiving, a pie that deftly blends turkey, cranberry sauce, stuffing, candied yams and gravy. Brunch, which is served on both Saturday and Sunday from 10am-3pm, raises the bar on breakfast fare in Providence and beyond. Chicken and Waffles, Crème Brule French Toast with Maple Bacon Crunch Ice Cream and the Hash Brown Skillet with Eggs are just a few of the one-of-a-kind menu offerings that you can find at The Village. Original brunch beverages, like the Hot Flash Bloody Mary and fresh fruit mimosas, further compliment the decadent, yet reasonably priced food. While you should be coming in for the incredible food, you can also stop in for the live entertainment that happens most nights of the week and explore the extensive champagne and handcrafted cocktail menu.

wes’ rib house About the Restaurant Wes’ Rib House is a Rhode Island tradition that has stood the test of time since 1976. Famously located on Dike Street in Providence’s hip and artsy West Side, the restaurant is also famous for its BBQ. Wood-fired and smoked, ribs rightfully take center stage. The sweet-smelling aroma will hit you every time you walk into the dining room, practically begging you to sit down and order. Slow cooked for hours, St. Louis ribs and spare ribs are topped off with Wes’ sweet and tangy Kansas City-style BBQ sauce. Pulled pork, chicken, salmon and steaks are also on the menu, along with grilled vegetable, salads and gluten-free options. Another tradition here is the affordable and family friendly prices. Heaping plates of meat served with mouthwatering cornbread, cole slaw and BBQ beans are all under $20. The loyal and welcoming staff, led by owner Michael Solomon, provide an authentic experience at every visit. Some staff members, like the head pit chef and the day smoker, have been in the kitchen for over 20 years. The consistency of good, old-fashioned flavors and service has earned Wes’ multiple awards and a feature in The New York Times. A new first floor addition in 2012 not only expanded the dining room and lounge options, but also offers a modern presentation to the Onleyville classic. Catering, offered onsite in the spacious event room or offsite – for everything from office lunches to receptions – delivers a true taste of a backyard BBQ with every tasty bite.
