CRACK OPEN A COCKTAIL South County Distillers offers a spin on vodka sodas with a summery cocktail line Nothing beats a tall vodka soda with a wedge of lime to stave off the heat and humidity of summer in the Ocean State. It’s simple but refreshing, gratifying yet low-calorie. Add South County Distillers’ craft vodka to the mix and you have yourself a treat, and this sister company of Grey Sail Brewing makes an easy cocktail as effortless as opening a can with their line of Sugar Reef Vodka & Sodas. “This summer, people are looking forward to being on the go again, and we wanted to offer a cocktail that can go with them,” explains co-owner Ryan Gwozdz. “Our canned cocktails are all-natural, made from real fruit, and only have 1.5 grams of sugar.” They also come in fruity varieties, like pineapple, mango, dragonfruit, and watermelon-lime, that complement the crisp, smooth flavors of grain-to-glass distillation you can expect from SCD spirits. A new Mojito Sugar Reef cocktail blends a little bit of sweetness, lime, and mint in a carbonated bevvie, and future releases are on the way featuring a new spirit. “Southern Rhode Island is known for its beach and boating culture,” says Gwozdz, who takes cues from the coastal landscape and recreation to create a refreshing line of cocktails perfect for unwinding after a day on the water or back porch sipping and dreaming about that next beach day. Find Sugar Reef four-packs in retail stores throughout the state or at Grey Sail Brewing in Westerly.
