From childhood sweethearts to marriage

igh school sweethearts Teagan Dwyer and Aaron Hamilton became engaged to be married in May 2018, after being together for almost 10 years. The Broken Hill couple were looking forward to their big day, which they had planned to hold at the High Country venue of Howqua Valley Views on January 26, owned by locals Ian and Lynden Lynch. After preparing the venue in 43 degree heat the day before their wedding the couple, their closest friends and families went out for dinner at the Delatite Hotel. Following dinner, bride-to-be Teagan checked her phone - a lightning bolt had struck land near their wedding venue, and they would have to evacuate. After making a couple of phone calls, the couple were able to relocate their wedding. bņľ͂čľŜľĹ&#x;Ĺ§Ĺ Ć Í‚ĆšÄ?ź͂ņľřĹ͂Ä?Ć Í‚Ć Ĺ†ÄľÍ‚AÄ?ŠźǰľĹ™ÄąÍ‚ Botanical Gardens, with a particularly special reception following at the AÄ?ŠźǰľĹ™ÄąÍ‚[ņŧĆšŠŜŧĆ…ŠĹź˳ “Our family and friends transformed the whole venue,â€? said Teagan. “It was amazing – I was brought to tears.â€? “Thanks to the incredible local vendors that made our wedding a dream come true despite some incredibly challenging circumstances,â€? Teagan said. “Everyone was cool in a crisis and went absolutely above and beyond to ensure the day was special.â€?

HAPPY ENDING: Despite having to relocate seven hours before their wedding due to a bushfire burning near their planned venue, Teagan Dwyer and Aaron Hamilton were still able to get married.

ou may be familiar with the word ‘Unplugged’ being used more and more at weddings. A bride and groom will ask their guests to be unplugged to limit the use of phones during the ceremony and also to allow them to share photos with their social media platforms before guests do. If you think about it, would you prefer your guests hugging you and giving you well wishes on your special day, or take blurry photos on not so flattering angles? When it comes to getting your unplugged request across to your guests there are plenty of options. Jamieson setting a special place Nicole & Heath N icole and Heath met at a mutual friend’s birthday on a balmy night in Melbourne sipping cocktails at an ‘Alice In Wonderland’ themed-bar and have been inseparable ever since. Nicole says “we fell in love and went right down the rabbit hole, and whilst at times we’ve probably both felt like the mad hatter it’s been an incredible seven years and has seen us go on many adventures”. “We wanted a country wedding that incorporated the natural beauty of the setting into every aspect of the day, so we had a lot of foliage ĝŠı͂ƚŧŧıˮ͂ŠĝƁʼnƙĵ͂DZŧƚĵŶź͂ĝŠı͂ŔƅźƁ͂ embraced the environment,” Nicole said. “Ultimately, we wanted to be surrounded by those people we care about most, ŧƅŶ͂ŀĝşʼnřƠ͂ĝŠı͂ŀŶʼnĵŠıźˮ͂ĝŠı͂ŔƅźƁ͂īŶĵĝƁĵ͂ a magical experience that we would ĝřř͂ĵŠŔŧƠ͂ƁŧŁĵƁņĵŶ͂ĝŠı͂ŠĵƙĵŶ͂ŀŧŶŁĵƁ̗͂͂ʼnƁ͂ certainly turned out that way.” Having the wedding at a destination like Jamieson meant people came away for the weekend and seeing the people who matter most in your life connecting and laughing, and it was truly the greatest weekend for the couple. At one point as Nicole and Heath looked around they had Nicole’s sister doing makeup, best friend making bouquets, a lifelong friend of Nicole’s doing hair, their nieces making the wedding cake and family members setting up the marquee

The couple chose Jamieson as it holds a special place in their family, and it was 20 years to the day that Nicole’s brother was married on the exact same property. “It was important to us to have a location where our guests didn’t have to go home early or leave by midnight,” Nicole said. “A lot of guests were travelling from

interstate and internationally and we wanted to spend as much time with them as we could. “We really wanted the ceremony and reception at the same place so our guests didn’t need to change venues.” Heath said the best part of the day was being able to celebrate their love for each other with the most special people in their lives - an amazing experience and more special than they could have ever imagined. ͂źƁĝŠıŧƅƁ͂ņʼnŁņřʼnŁņƁ͂ƚĝź͂ıĵǰŠʼnƁĵřƠ͂ the dance Nicole and Heath did on the ıĝŠīĵ͂DZŧŧŶ˳͂ “We re-created the Greatest Showman’s ‘From now on’, where Heath was very excited to wear his top hat and having all ʎʏʍ͂ŁƅĵźƁź͂ƅų͂ŧŠ͂Ɓņĵ͂ıĝŠīĵ͂DZŧŧŶ͂źʼnŠŁʼnŠŁˮ͂ hugging and dancing together was an experience we will cherish forever and hold close to our hearts,” Nicole said. Nicole described their day as ‘everything being perfect. It was real, it was us, we only wished it could have never ended’. Nicole and Heath are both very close to their mothers so they performed a special ceremony during the wedding where they read a letter thanking their mums for the role they’ve had in their lives. “That was really important to us and had an impact on a lot of people as there was not a dry eye in the house, including ours,” Nicole said. “We will never forget that.” H i g h C o u n t r y We d d i n g s + E v e n t s 1 3

en chose Gapsted Wines as a wedding venue as while growing up her family holidayed in Bright for two weeks at Christmas every year for 20 years. Gapsted holds a really special place in her heart. She took Torby there and he also fell in love with the place instantly. true High Country wedding was the wish for Sarah Allsop and Steve Wilson in September 2019. They chose to hold their wedding at the Mt Buller Alpine Chapel with photos taken afterwards in the snow – including the setting of Craig’s Hut on Clear Hills, Mt Stirling. “We love the cold weather and frequently venture to the mountains during the colder months, with Mt Buller being a common attraction for us,” Sarah explained. “Mt Buller holds such a beautiful varied terrain and that the scenery changes often within such small distances, a ƁŧƁĝřřƠ͂ıʼnǥĵŶĵŠƁ͂ĝųųĵĝŶĝŠīĵ͂źŧ͂ıʼnźƁʼnŠīƁřƠ͂ from one extreme to another. “So we were always going to have the mountains’ beauty in our wedding adventure, regardless of which physical location we moved to.” Ease of access for the family and friends to join the couple on their adventure was also a priority. Steve said their friends and family were not surprised with a snow wedding as it suited the couple’s adventurous personalities. “Friends expressed concern about logistics of the day though,” he said. “Some friends told us, ‘you can’t have a bride stomping around in snow boots’.” Steve said some of the highlights of the

day were ‘marrying my best friend’, the helicopter ride to Craig’s Hut for photos and laughing at each other stumbling around in the snow. The couple chose the Breathtaker Hotel for their reception as it has an amazing restaurant and was so close to the Alpine Chapel. They most enjoyed having fun, each other’s laughs while taking photos in some beautiful locations, the helicopter ride over the mountain – in fact every aspect of the day was great for them. [ĝŶĝņ͂źĝʼnı͂Ɓņĵ͂ŧŠřƠ͂ƁņʼnŠŁ͂ıʼnǥĵŶĵŠƁ͂ƁņĵƠ͂ would have done is allocating more time for photos in various areas in the snow. “When deciding to have a ‘snow wedding’ choose a location that suits your personality, rather than just an idealistic setting,” Sarah advised. “This makes it easier to have a solid time line, including contingency plans if the weather turns foul. “Mt Buller and the snow just gave enumerable opportunities to change-up our adventure any way we chose, the bridal party could have strapped on skis, ƁŧĪŧŁŁĝŠĵıˮ͂ņĝı͂ĝ͂źŠŧƚĪĝřř͂ǰŁņƁ͂ŧŶ͂ĪƅʼnřƁ͂ a snowman together,” Sarah said. “Steve could have pulled me on a sled - all could have been used as contingency plans.”

roviding comprehensive photographic coverage of your wedding day requires time. Setting a timeline is a good way to plan your wedding photography. A timeline follows a more traditional wedding format and sequence, however, each wedding is unique and a photographer will work with you to adjust Ɓņĵ͂ƁʼnşĵřʼnŠĵ͂Ɓŧ͂şĵĵƁ͂ƠŧƅŶ͂źųĵīʼnǰī͂Šĵĵıź˳ But please remember when setting your timeline to build in travel time between locations. The groom – 1 hour: Upon arrival by the photographer the groom and groomsmen should be dressed in their shirts and trousers so the photographer īĝŠ͂źņŧŧƁ͂Ɓņĵ͂ǰŠĝř͂źƁĝŁĵź͂ŧŀ͂ŁĵƁƁʼnŠŁ͂ ready in a relaxed and candid fashion. Upon arrival, the bride and her escort should wait in the car so the photographer can

capture the moment before her entrance. The photographer will capture all the źʼnŁŠʼnǰīĝŠƁ͂şŧşĵŠƁź͂ŧŀ͂Ɓņĵ͂īĵŶĵşŧŠƠ˳ Family formals – 30 minutes: A large group photo and family photos are taken directly after the ceremony. A list of group photos should be compiled beforehand ĝŠı͂Ɓņŧźĵ͂ŁƅĵźƁź͂ŠŧƁʼnǰĵı͂ŧŀ͂ƚņĵŠ͂ĝŠı͂ where to be for them. Creative images – 1.5 hours: After the excitement of the ceremony it’s time to take a break from guests for the bride and groom and take time out for some fun with the bridal party. A variety of images with the bridal party will be the focus of the shoot. Several locations may be chosen for photographs but at least 45 minutes per location – plus travel time should be allocated. The reception – 1 hour: While the bridal party relaxes before entering a photographer may take a few moments to snap some casual guest photos and table settings. A photographer should wait until the cake is cut – or alternatively pose the shot prior to the reception starting. A īŧƅųřĵ͂ŧŀ͂ųņŧƁŧź͂ŧŀ͂źųĵĵīņĵź͂ĝŠı͂Ɓņĵ͂ǰŶźƁ͂ dance should also be included within the hour allocated.
