Morris Bros history MORRIS Bros Real Estate’s recent move to 29 Rowan Street comes after many years at their old Reid Street former bank premises. Peter and David Morris purchased the long established Rickards and Henderson real estate firm which itself had earlier relocated into the Bank. Rickards and Henderson had first established in 1953 in Murphy Street by Frank Rickards, where he initially traded in dairy plant and agricultural equipment. The ‘Morris Bros’ were David and Peter, David having been with the firm for many years when Peter joined him in 1984 after nearly twenty years valuing property in North East Victoria and the southern Riverina. David returned to Phillip Island in 1999 with full ownership of Morris Bros being taken up by Peter and Sue Morris. Peter Morris says the firm has achieved a long record of business success based on high ethics, excellent and loyal staff together with their wide experience and knowledge of all facets of real estate in the local districts and beyond. Two of the longest serving staff are Kate Morris and Brett Goodwin. Kate looks after property management plus sales and is a licensed agent in her own right. Kate has been with Morris Bros for over 23 years. Brett Goodwin, auctioneer and sales manager has been with Morris Bros for 25 years. Both Kate and Brett are recognized locally as leaders in their respective fields. By interesting coincidence, the new office site at 29 Rowan Street, was auctioned by David Morris in 1982 on behalf of the Milford Dairy Company directors Jack Fidler and Jack Goodwin, the latter being a local dairy farmer and Brett Goodwin’s father. Jack was a director of the Murray Goulburn Co-operative during its better times. Morris Bros designed their new offices to suit their specific requirements. It was built by the local award winning firm of R & R Humphreys. Peter Morris says that the construction was completed on time, on budget and to the high quality standard they asked for and for which the builder is renowned. “Our new offices provide every amenity and comfort for both clients and staff and incorporate the latest in computer, phone and window display technology,” Peter said. Morris Bros welcome any interested member of the community to call in and inspect their new premises.
