GIRL GANG: No matter how big the bridal party is, there are tricks to being a good bridesmaid.
How to be a good bridesmaid NO matter how good a friend you are with someone, there is a certain knack to being a supportive and useful member of a wedding party. Planning and being organised, as well as effectively communicating your boundaULHV DQG OLPLWDWLRQV ̰ ͤ QDQFLDO DQG SHU sonal - with the bride, is key to enjoying your time as a bridesmaid. Firstly, money is an important factor for many of us, and if your budget is tight, be sure to communicate what you can and can’t afford to the bride early on, so each of you know where you stand and you don’t end up resenting each other. If you are saving, you should err on the VLGH RI FDXWLRQ ZKHQ ͤ JXULQJ RXW KRZ much you might need, and try to save more than you think you need. On the other side of that coin, if you’re doing well, others in your life might not be, so don’t get swept up on flights of fancy about elaborate or expensive hen’s parties or bonding activities unless you know it’s
in reach for as many guests as possible. You should also make sure to stay on top of any tasks the bride has outsourced to you, from ordering your dress or accessories to helping handmake wedding favours. :KLOH \RX PD\ ͤ QG VRPH ZHGGLQJ SUHS exhausting, try to keep as many prior FRPPLWPHQWV ̰ VXFK DV KHOSLQJ ZLWK ͤ W tings – with the bride as possible. Being accommodating and being a peacemaker – without being a doormat for the bride or other bridal party members – is also important to help lessen the stress on the bride. But if you have a lot going on in your own life – or personal dramas do crop up – remember, the bride is still your friend, so let her know if you need to step back or take a break from preparations. In the end, don’t forget to enjoy the day, make memories and have fun – because your friend has asked you to be part of one of the biggest days of her life.

Country romance leads to an intimate wedding THE recent rural wedding of Emma and Chase Williams was the culmination of a romance that began eight years ago. Chase was a childhood friend of Jamie, Emma’s sister’s fiance, and the pair met at Jamie’s 21st birthday party, the romance blossoming months later when the couple were with friends attending the Deni Ute Muster. Chase’s proposal came on Christmas 2016, while their children Charlotte and Hunter were unwrapping their presents in the couple’s recently purchased home. The couple wanted an intimate wedding focused on family and friends, and their October wedding reflected that, including Emma wearing a white formal maxi dress she found on eBay. The couple decided not to have the traditional wedding party, instead having Emma’s daughter and niece being flower girls and having her father walk her down the aisle. “Basically all we wanted was a small quick and easy ceremony and then a big party afterwards,” Emma said, adding that they had around 55 guests, all close family and friends. “To us our wedding doesn’t need to be flash and expensive - we just want to have a great time and celebrate with loved ones.” The ceremony and reception was held at Emma’s parents’ property in the North East town of Granya. To capture their special day, the couple hired Carmela Parkin, who runs A Beautiful Eye from her new premises at Unit 1/856 Leslie Drive in North Albury. “Carmela has been great to work with, she is very down to earth and seems to

understand what we want,” Emma said. “She has listened to what I want and given us some great ideas.” Carmela has been working as a professional photographer in the North
East for several years, including regularly photographing weddings, and is happy to tailor a package with couples to create their desired coverage for their event.

Wedding trends going strong WHILE individual tastes make each wedding unique, there are a number of trends continuing to make waves at weddings around the world, according to the International Academy of Wedding and Event Planning (IAWEP). Some of these include: Vintage style Vintage inspired eras are dominating many weddings, from old Hollywood glamour to time periods such as the 1940s and 1960s. Single style bars The food and liquor industry has seen a surge in single style bars. Instead of a general open bar, newlyweds often pare down to one type of cocktail, and items like bourbon and whiskey bars, rose bars and tequila stations have also been popular. Make way for velvet Jewel toned velvet has hit the wedding scene as the hot fabric of the year, and is surprisingly versatile, adding a dose of glamour to more minimalist spaces and a textural counterpoint to more organic ones.
Cutting-edge curves Hard, straight lines have been all the rage for furniture in the past few years, but now, curving silhouettes with full, soft-bodied cushions represents the shape of things to come, as we see a move to more low-slung cozy couches in décor. Move aside, Mid-Century Modern Already popular in the bar and restaurant scene, Nouveau Art Deco is big. Expect bold, geometric shapes to partner with a 1920s style spin on minimalism. Vegan goes mainstream Changing tastes and preferences have seen a big increase in vegan and vegetarian menus, and not just as special dietary requests. Communication revolution While emails are still the main way that wedding professionals stay in touch with their clients, social media platforms have become more prevalent. Many people are also finding and sourcing their vendors through the medium of social media as well.
ROMANTIC ROSE: Rose wine has become one of the most popular drinks to base single style wedding bars around.

Milawa the spot for unforgettable wedding WITH a ceremony on the grounds of Brown Brothers in Milawa, and a rustic reception at the winery’s well known barn, the marriage of Bree and Dean Adams on October 6 was a special day. The pair met at a party when they were both in their mid teens, and have been together since June 2012. In early 2013, the couple were moving in together when Dean surprised Bree by proposing on bended knee with a ring he chose himself. “The vibe for the day was rustic inspired, relaxed, full of great food and wine with our closest friends and family, Bree said. The couple’s bridal party included maid of honour Cecilia Burns, bridesmaids Leah Bell and Jade Malsem, flower girl Hadassah Adams and pageboy Steele Adams (the groom’s niece and nephew), best man Dillon Ralston, and groomsmen Bailey Evans and Harrison Ralston. Bree wore an ivory lace Stella York gown, which she found at Michelle’s Bridal in 6KHSSDUWRQ ZKLOH WKH EULGHVPDLGV ZRUH ͤ W ted sand coloured gowns by Nookie. Dean wore a navy suit, and both his suit and the suits worn by the groomsmen were bought at Identity Menswear in Shepparton,
with Dean wearing a vibrant blue and the groomsmen wearing a darker shade. The wedding was attended by just under 80 of the couple’s friends and family. Bree said the couple wanted to patronise as many local and North East businesses as possible when planning the wedding. On the day, she got her makeup done by Coby Field and hair by Amanda Bell, while the flowers were created by Neva Sartori at Seed and Bloom in Wangaratta. The couple’s white chocolate and raspberry wedding cake was made by Angela Baldwin at Little Red Robyn, and the wedding photobooth came courtesy of Rustic Amour. The wedding was captured by Corowa photographer Sue Davis. “These people made our day that bit more special and memorable, Bree said. Overall, Bree said it was a great and memorable day. "The weather was perfect, many laughs were had, all of our guests had a smile from ear to ear and partied on into the night with us. SPECIAL DAY: Dean and Bree Adams on their October wedding day. Know your priorities and budget accordingly.
Choose providers that show interest in YOU.
AVOID PROCRASTINATING Good providers get busy. If in a tight time frame, be open minded to what’s available within that time period.
Realise that no matter how much or how little you spend; it won't make your wedding day any less special.
Be prepared and plan for the unexpected. Give extra time to EVERYTHING.
