ProVision Graduate Opportunities

Wondering where to begin the next phase of your optometry career?
There are a few paths you can take after university – but if your passions lie in clinical excellence and entrepreneurship, working for an independent optometry practice may be the best choice for you. Independent optometry practices are privately owned and operated by an optometrist, rather than being part of a larger chain or corporation.
“In an independent practice, you build more than just a patient list – you create a mini community. Getting to know your patients, their families and even their furry friends is a rewarding part of the job that fosters lasting connections.”
Jillian Campbell, Practice Owner at Richard Lindsay & AssociatesForge your own path with the freedom to practice your way, spending more time focussed on your patients and improving your skills.
In an independent practice, you’ll have the opportunity to work with patients who have more complex eye conditions. This valuable exposure can help to advance your diagnostic and treatment skills. You’ll also be able to work closely with patients to develop treatment plans that meet their unique needs and help them achieve optimal vision.
Explore unique areas of clinical interest, such as orthokeratology, dry eye, myopia management and more. Because independent practices are free to choose their areas of focus, you’ll often have the chance to work with optometrists with specific expertise, helping you become a more wellrounded practitioner.
ProVision is Australia’s largest network of independent optometrists. Through innovation, buying power and business support, ProVision helps to power more than 450 independent optometrists turned entrepreneurs.
From starting-up to selling-up, we are here to make sure our members do more than just survive. We’re here to help them thrive.
ProVision aligns Optometry Graduates with placements at one of our member practices. Here’s how it works.
All Optometry graduates can join the ProVision candidate pool.
Independent optometrists often attract a more diverse patient base because they have the flexibility to provide highly personalised care. Take the skills learnt at university and employ them to diagnose and treat a broad range of eye conditions, including complex cases that you may not encounter as frequently in other retail settings. In independent optometry, you’ll never stop learning and developing.
Enjoy more flexibility when it comes to your scope of practice. At an independent practice, you’ll have the opportunity to employ a wider range of therapeutics, develop strong relationships within the community and have a greater impact on your patients’ overall health.
One of the biggest benefits of working for an independent practice is the on-the-job mentoring you’ll receive from seasoned professionals. As a recent graduate, you’ll get support and encouragement as you build your skills and grow in confidence.
While on the job, you’ll also be learning the ropes on running a successful small business. This is invaluable should you wish to pursue practice ownership in the future. So ask questions, receive feedback, and become the best practitioner you can be!
All final year optometry students and graduates can join our candidate pool. When a role becomes available at a ProVision practice, we’ll let you know.
When a role becomes available at a ProVision practice near you, we will send you an email to notify you of the opportunity.
If you wish to apply, the ProVision recruitment team will support you through the application process.
