Biograophy of Joseph Conrad Joseph Conrad was one of the most important novelists of the English literature. He was born on 3 of December of 1957, in Poland. When he was twelve, he was orphaned. Because of that he had to move to live with his uncle. Then, when he was seventeen he moved to Italy and then to Marseille where he was a merchant seaman in 1875. In 1878 he moved to England escaping from the conscription of Russia. There, he worked on ships and he used to read Shakespeare. Some years later he got the English nationality and the title of captain. Joseph was working a lot of years in the trade and he lived many adventurous that he wrote later. His career like a novelist started in 1895 with his first novel, “Almayer’s Folly” which was a success. He got married two years later with Jessie George and he dedicated himself to the literature working as a writer for some publishing like Unwin or English Review, where some of his works were published. In 1898 he had economic problems because of his addiction to the game, so he had to return to the marine for making money. However, he didn’t give up the literature and the next years wrote most of his works like “Typhoon”, “The mirror of the sea” and “The secret agent”, among many others. Joseph met a lot of important writers like Henry James, Rudyard Kipling and Bertrand Russell, who visited him in 1913. In 1914 Conrad travelled to Poland but he had to return to England because of the start of the First World War. Years later, he travelled to Corsica and to the Unites States in 1923. He died because of a heart attack 3 of August in 1924. Regarding to his literature work, Joseph Conrad wrote his books using the classic and modern literature. A lot of books represent the adventurous of marines and the life in the sea, although in general the topics were based in the human moral and the bad things in the real life.
