I love Instagram for realtors. It’s where your target audience is. Millennials are in the prime home-buying age right now, so why wouldn’t you put your message out there in the space that they frequent? Instagram goes hand-in-hand with Facebook since they’re both Meta platforms, however, they operate quite di erently. Originally, Instagram was designed for photo sharing. If video isn’t part of your social media strategy, you won’t be competitive. YouTube is the king of all video platforms. It allows for traditional long-form landscape videos, and now with the introduction and increasing popularity of YouTube Shorts, you can utilize short-form video on the platform. Why is this platform so important? YouTube is owned by Google and is the second most visited website, after Google Search. Let that one sink in.

You’re probably thinking, “Amy, this isn’t a social media platform.” Well, I beg to di er. Not only does Google Business allow your business information to populate in searches, but you can post status updates and events, and most importantly, collect reviews. This platform adds to your credibility, and best of all, it’s free, but don’t just create a listing and then never update. To get the full benefit from your Google Business listing, you should post regular updates and encourage reviews.

Notice that TikTok did not make the list. That is largely to do with its uncertain future, as I write this piece. In general, it’s a pretty solid platform, but I can’t recommend someone spend time, money, and resources on it until we know what’s happening with its usage in the United States.
