PRODUCT AND BUSINESS LAUNCHES With such a high number of visiting professionals that cover all four sectors on show at this exhibition, this event provides the perfect platform for businesses to promote or develop their new and existing concepts and products on a scale that cannot be found elsewhere. Listed on this page are just some of the fantastic and revolutionary new innovations and services which can be found at this show.

A REVOLUTION IN HAND REHABILITATION

BRINGING REHABILITATION TO REALITY

The SaeboGlove is the latest cutting-edge technological device from Saebo. Its innovative design provides a new form of independence and function to the population suffering from the devastating effects of impaired hand mobility.

Barrett Technology has a proud history of pioneering technology underlying new levels of flexibility in articulated arms and hands, and they are proud to introduce to you Proficio, a breakthrough in stroke rehabilitation tools.

The SaeboGlove is the latest innovation from Saebo, the world-renowned provider of evidence-based therapy solutions to the population with impaired functionality and mobility. The product assists clients suffering from neurological and orthopaedic impairment with finger and thumb extension, and enables hand functionality in both therapy and at home. With a lightweight, low-profile functional design, the SaeboGlove positions the wrist and fingers into extension, in preparation for functional activities. The device enables the client to grasp an object, through independent flexing of the fingers. The extension system allows the client to then reopen the hand to release the object. Evidence shows the impact the glove has on the hand is instantly effective. Activities such as opening the lid of a container or opening a cupboard door are achieved with a degree of ease and control incomparable to when the client is without the assistance of the device. The device has been created to provide the best possible form of comfort and effectiveness for the client. This includes a spiral forearm design that secures the wrist in a position ready for function, tensioners located at the IP joints of the fingers and thumb to assist with extending the digits following grasping, a lightweight and comfortable design, silicone covered finger tips for improved traction, and lycra material for better expandability.

STAND 421 22

PRODUCT LAUNCHES

Proficio is an upper-limb rehabilitation device, running on the VirtualRehab platform. The device has the largest 3D hapticsforce-field ever produced for the examination of neuroplasticity of the brain. Despite having an enormous 1-m^2 workspace, Proficio has been designed to be portable, affordable, and easy to set-up and take apart. The concept of this innovation is to encourage victims in rehabilitation from debilitating injuries or illnesses such as a stroke, traumatic brain injury or spinal-cord damage to explore 3D reaching tasks with complete independence and freedom. The device has a rich set of haptic tools that allow its user to enjoy a comprehensive haptic interaction. VirtualRehab, the videogame platform created by Virtualware for use in physical therapy, leverages the large 3D workspace through their own incisive idea of incorporating the most cutting-edge technology into the physical rehabilitation videogame platform. While Proficio and VirtualRehab can operate as standalone devices, combining the two provides the real benefit. When used together, the user can see and feel entertaining games that encourage intensive use. Valuable data is maintained throughout, and scores are displayed to motivate the user. Proficio stands alone in what it can offer the population in rehabilitation from the devastating effects of neurological disorders. The device has begun shipping on a non-clinical, research only basis.

STAND 313

REDUCING PAIN TO INCREASE PERFORMANCE In 2006, Markus Erhard created Myofascial Taping, a unique and innovative taping and therapy method. Since its invention, this therapy solution has grown to achieve worldwide recognition and acclaim. The aim of Myofascial Taping is to control the myofascial tension in order to restore the body’s natural myofascial balance through the use of myofascial release and activation techniques. Markus’ particular method maintains the myofascial release effects during movement and sport so these new techniques can keep movement pain-free and therefore enhance sporting performance. It has been developed to work instantly and effectively, so much so that pain can be significantly reduced – or even removed completely – in only one therapy session. The techniques used in Myofascial Taping include improvement of muscle functioning, motion and posture. PROVIDING A VISION OF MUSCULOSKELETAL PROBLEMS Since Body Block created their eponymously named multidisciplinary, multipurpose support block, the company haven’t slowed down in developing innovative and ground-breaking concepts for health professionals and their clients. PhysioMappApp is their latest cutting-edge invention, and puts an effective and mobile vision of a patient’s musculoskeletal problems quite literally under their fingertips. This measuring tool quickly coverts a patient photograph into a visual aid by overlaying grids and multiple X and Y axes. These can be touchpad adjusted with ease and in rapid time, enabling the user to highlight degrees of inclination, alignment issues, tilt, and protraction, and quickly calculates angles. The device is an efficient, highly economical tool, and is designed to provide a visual assessment, promote treatments, and collect before and after treatment data. Body Block have previously been on the receiving end of great attention and many plaudits through ‘Bodyblock,’ a hygienic patient positioning device. This concept plugged a hole in the market, where it offers support in a range of areas on the body to provide an easier task for a treating practitioner, as well as comforting a patient and improving their position. Used for the head, arm, leg and foot, the device provides great assistance to podiatrists, chiropodists, physical therapists, osteopaths, paramedics, and a variety of other medical professions.

FIND THE PERFECT PLACE TO RUN YOUR BUSINESS Maybe you are looking for premises to run your practice from, or maybe you want to expand and you need a complimentary business? Then look no further. BusinessForSale.com has everything you need to find and run your dream business. Buying an existing business allows you to take over an operation that already comes with a reputation, customer base, and hopefully, profit. In order to find a suitable business to enable you to go it alone or compliment your existing practice, you need to understand what you are looking for. First, consider your pricing parameters. Look at the average market value of the type of business you are interested in,

then consider variable factors like location and profitability. As someone already operating in your profession, you should already understand the direction of the market and future profitability. You should also have an idea of the degree of risk and uncertainty. Now that you know how much you are willing to pay for a business, it’s time to find specific businesses to target for purchase. Pinpoint the geographical

BUSINESSES FOR SALE BusinessesForSale.com connects business buyers and sellers. With over 65,000 businesses in 130 countries worldwide, the website is the world’s largest businesses for sale marketplace, attracting over one million unique users every month. For aspiring entrepreneurs, BusinessesForSale.com provides a route into ownership and acquisition opportunities for business owners to expand a current venture. If you are looking to exit, we can help you cost-effectively market your business and find the right buyer. www.businessesforsale.com

area where you want to own a business, and research businesses that are currently for sale. You can learn about potential sales through networking with other business owners and professional contacts. Investigate why the business is for sale.

Check local business and industry publications for a list of businesses for sale. Review newspapers, general classified advertising sites like Craigslist, and other online listing services. Run your own ad describing what you are looking for in a potential business. Remember that just because a business is not listed somewhere doesn’t mean it is not for sale. The best business for you may be the one that isn’t necessarily for sale. Almost every business is for sale at a given time, for the right buyer and the right price. If the business you want isn’t actively being sold, see if you can acquire it; talk to the owner personally or make contact through a representative like a broker or lawyer. The best approach will depend on the company and the industry. Having a conversation with the owner could provide some insight that will influence your level of interest. A personal connection could also help to demonstrate your

intentions to the current owner. If someone has worked hard to build a business over the years, they may want reassurance that the business will continue in the same fashion. Even if the owner wasn’t necessarily thinking of selling, the right offer and promise that the business will be in good hands could change that. Going through a business broker is another way to find businesses for sale. Brokers are typically hired by sellers to find buyers and help negotiate deals. Brokers charge a commission, usually 5 to 10 percent of the purchase price, but their experience can be valuable. Many first-time buyers say the assistance a broker can provide through the buying process, especially negotiation, is worth the cost. Remember that this is just the start of your business acquisition. You will also need to consider how you will finance your purchase, understand the ins and outs of your target business through comprehensive due diligence, and get your head around all the legal elements of the transaction. With determination and solid preparation you could be the proud owner of a new practice in just a few months!
