Innovation in Flood Risk Management in the Netherlands
Flood Risk management is like a jigsaw of many pieces, all working together to reduce flood risk. I make no apology for always focussing on the ‘bit in the middle’, our homes and businesses. It is our homes and businesses that are devastated by being flooded, with much loved possessions and memories destroyed forever. It is a well-known fact that recovering from being flooded is worse than the flood itself. This presentation will highlight case studies of homes and businesses that have made adaptations to help them to get back home or open their businesses sooner after a flood.
Judith will present an overview of some of the current innovations in flood risk management which are being developed in the Netherlands.

Surface Water Flood Forecasting in an Uncertain Climate This seminar will focus on surface water flood forecasting in a changing climate where weather is becoming increasingly untypical and uncertain. It will start with an evaluation of rainfall forecast for surface water flood prediction, followed by the recent developments in realtime surface water forecasting. The seminar will finish with an evaluation of different approaches to communicating uncertain surface water flood risks to stakeholders in different sectors.
For those delivering emergency assistance, knowing exactly where they are going is crucial and this can be a challenge when address information isn’t available. what3words provides a solution, its system gives every 3x3m in the world an address of 3 simple words, allowing precise locations to be described very easily. CPD ACCREDITATION IN 3 EASY STEPS The Flood Expo understands the drive for constant professional progression. Alongside providing access to the current products and services shaping the flood sector, The Flood Expo will be a true goldmine of complementary education. Providing CPD accreditation for all of our seminars, The Flood
Expo quickly becomes a professionally beneficial event as well as a world-class flood trade show. We understand how difficult it is to balance professional success and personal development. By providing CPD accredited seminars we can facilitate this personal development without sacrificing any of the professional excellence.
Here is exactly what you need to do to secure your CPD points from The Flood Expo:
1
When you attend any Flood Expo seminar, make a note of its title and host.
2
You can submit the relevant hours and seminars you attended to our Marketing Team (marketing-reply@prysmgroup.co.uk) post-show and we will submit it to CPD on your behalf.
3
Once the CPD Team process the request, they will get in contact with you in regards to your certificate.
Engaging in Continuing Professional Development ensures that both academic and practical qualifications do not become out-dated or obsolete; allowing individuals to continually ‘up skill’ or ‘re-skill’ themselves, regardless of occupation, age or educational level. CPD 8

FLOOD RISK MANAGEMENT: RESILIENCE AND ADAPTATION 2019 With the effects of climate change and increasing storm intensity posing an ever-greater risk to infrastructure and property development, the UK needs to be more resilient to flooding and better able to mitigate the risks. Building on the success of last year’s event, our 2019 Flood Risk Management: Resilience and Adaptation conference is returning to London on 5 December. The one-day conference will look at the regulatory and policy backdrop enabling better flood risk managemen, provide practical strategies to manage the impact of flooding on infrastructure and housing development and outline practical, integrated approaches to catchment and flood risk planning.

DustMate is a hand-held instrument with a very fast response which has been designed to locate sources of workplace airborne dust and fumes even at very low concentrations.
Osiris is a general purpose instrument which can be used as a portable instrument or deployed in a semi-permanent installation. Osiris has achieved the Environment Agency’s MCERTS certification, ensuring its accuracy in recording data.
iGASair is a new internet gas monitor from Turnkey. Its multiple gas sensors are housed within a shielded manifold and aspirated by means of an ultraquiet pump making the instrument equally suitable for both Outdoor and Indoor Air Pollution monitoring.
