Going Circular: Creating a Waste-Free Future
Hydrogen: Powering a Sustainable Future
The circular economy requires us to rethink how we produce and consume products, to minimise waste and maximise the resources we use. For the food and drinks sector, achieving a waste-free future requires some radical changes to the system.
Hydrogen is inexhaustible and can be produced from renewable and excess energy and emits only water in use. It is versatile and can be used across sectors including industrial processes, transport and for heat and power. As such, it is an ideal energy vector and feedstock.

The End of Abundance - Changing Perceptions and Behaviours in a Thirsty World
Pete Mackarel will discuss how the energy market has not seen the same level of technological innovation as other industry verticals, such as e-commerce, gaming and finance. Current M&T systems were built on now out-dated technologies and have become limiting, inflexible, costly and difficult to use. He will explore how new technology needs to be applied in the energy sector that is agile, powerful, scalable and cost effective, to change the way we view, control and use our energy.
Glenn’s session is designed to get people thinking differently about water. His message is thought provoking and is delivered in a style that has an immediate impact on how people view water. He will be asking the question ‘is there enough water to go around here in the UK?’ and will be explaining the link between water, energy and carbon. The session will provide practical advice on how we can all use less water, both as individuals and businesses.

THE UK HAS PLEDGED TO REACH NET ZERO CARBON EMISSIONS BY 2050
ZERO EMISSIO ZERO EMISSIONS ZONE One of the most talked about topics at Future Resource and its co-located shows in 2018 was pollution. Cars make up only 12% of EU CO2 emissions, so it is clear that pollution problems run deeper than vehicles. This made it clear that a dedicated area at the events was required, to champion the products and services of businesses from all of the sector that not only reduce emissions from vehicles, but for businesses, industries and homes as well.
ZERO EMISSIONS VEHICLE TEST TRACK With the continued progression towards zero emission vehicles and machinery, Future Resource is proud to be one of the only environmental exhibitions to boast a test track for the zero-emissions vehicles on display at the show. The track is a unique feature that offers a fantastic insight into how far zero emissions emitting vehicles have come in recent times, whilst also covering any issues or qualms that the technologies face in the new age of technology.

It is already shaping the way we live and work. By 2021, The IoT industry is set to be worth $520 billion, with over 35 billion connected devices. Not only this, the IoT industry is experiencing significant growth, expanding at a rate of 20% + per annum. Sponsored By
Due to ever expanding demand of IoT throughout society, we have introduced the Future IoT zone at Future Resource — with a specific focus on how businesses across the globe operate, helping them improve their sustainability and business practices. The IoT is integral to humanity’s sustainable future, so we acquired the help of some of the leading names in the industry to deliver the show to you. Technology giants Intel and Dell are sponsoring the zone, with Dr Jacqui Taylor as our show advisor; promising to make the Future IoT a great edition to the already impressive Future Resource event. IoT is continually changing how sustainability is practiced. As it stands, current examples of IoT in everyday scenarios include smart street lighting — which reduces the amount of energy needed street lights as they turn off automatically when they are not needed. Additionally, smart waste sensors are revolutionising the waste world as they relay data back to waste management companies so only full bins are emptied; lowering their carbon emissions. The Future IoT zone will be an excellent addition to the Future Resource portfolio, bringing together industry-leading practitioners to discuss IoT, Smart Cities, Blockchain, Intelligent Edge, develop new ideas and creating networks. The demand for this event has been overwhelming and we want everyone to be ready for an illuminating trade exhibition. www.futureiotexpo.com

MAINSTREAM SCIENCE
IS CATCHING UP
Neutrino Energy Group: MAINSTREAM SCIENCE IS CATCHING UP In the world of superconductor engineering, heat has always been an issue. While reducing the energy loss of electrons moving through a material is ideal in power grids and other applications, existing superconductor technology must be operated at high temperatures to deliver results. Recently scientists have discovered that layers of carbon, known as trilayer graphene, conduct electricity. The researchers who stumbled upon this discovery see their trilayer graphene as a replacement for existing superconductors.
“
are dedicated towards developing new technologies capable of transforming this ethereal mass into usable energy.
How does Neutrino Energy Technology work? Grasping the power of neutrino energy requires more than simply extending your hand and letting these particles pass right through you. To transform the energy of passing neutrinos into usable electricity, a revolution of science and engineering was required. Just as in the case of the newly-discovered trilayer graphene superconducting material, the basis of the neutrino energy technology involves the use of thin layers of graphene to create a resonance from passing neutrinos and convert this kinetic energy into
THIS PATENT DESCRIBES A Floorplan “NEUTRINO FILM” THAT IS CAPABLE OF RESPONDING TO THE MOTION OF NEUTRINOS
“
The trilayer graphene superconductor and Neutrino Energy In 2015, a conductive material quite similar to the newly-discovered trilayer graphene superconductor was patented. This patent describes a “neutrino film” that is capable of responding to the motion of neutrinos as they pass through the planet in their countless trillions every day. While mainstream science has just caught up to the idea that extremely thin layers of carbon are capable of responding to and carrying electrical energy with almost 100 percent fidelity, a number of businesses have been hard at work developing usable neutrino energy technology since 2015. Inspired by the discovery that neutrinos have mass, organisations throughout the industry 20
electricity. To do so, spiked graphene and silicon are adhered to a suitable substrate, and when passing neutrinos strike this combination of silicon and graphene, a harmonic resonance process begins that is then registered by an electrical conversion device. This neutrino energy technology will be capable of powering small devices like smartphones within just a few years. From there every electronic device and industrial machine can be powered by neutrino energy.
The implications of improved graphene superconductor technology For years, the primary argument against neutrino energy technology is that it is impractical. From the beginning, however, the Neutrino Energy Group has maintained that every great leap forward in human energy technology takes time. It’s important to remember that solar panels were invented in 1958, but photovoltaic cells only entered into widespread consumer use in the 1990s.
The importance of Neutrino Energy conservation
www.neutrino-energy.com
One other implication of the graphene superconductor discovery is the potential of this technology to be used in transporting the energy derived from neutrino energy devices such as the proposed Neutrino Power Cube. Common conductors, such as copper wire, lose energy as they transfer electricity. Thin layers of graphene are essential to the operation of devices that collect neutrino energy.
Neutrino Energy and its environmental impact Humanity’s dependence on fossil fuel energy is causing damage to the environment. It also appears that humanity’s reliance on fossil fuel energy could be contributing to ongoing global changes in our climate that will inevitably lead to more natural disasters and wildly fluctuating temperatures. Current alternatives to fossil fuels are almost just as undesirable. Neutrino energy is poised to serve as the solution to the modern energy crisis. By combining the most recent developments in graphene engineering with cutting-edge scientific discoveries, neutrino energy may be just what humanity needs to kick fossil fuels to the curb permanently.

AGROBIOMASS: A LOCAL RESOURCE TO GREEN THE HEATING SECTOR
More than half of Europe’s energy consumption goes to the heating sector which is currently responsible for 27% of EU carbon emissions and still largely dependent on polluting fossil fuels. Due to its size, the production and consumption of heating and cooling has a major impact on the EU economy and on whether the EU will be able to achieve not only its 2030 climate and energy goals - including a reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, an improvement of energy efficiency and development of our renewable energy infrastructure – but also its 2050 decarbonisation objective. Bioenergy is by far the leading (88 %) renewable energy contributor in the heating sector, but the energy transition will not be completed and emissions won’t be curbed in time if its contribution is not stepped up in the next decade, and the potential is to be found…in our countryside.
BIOENERGY IS BY FAR THE LEADING (88 %) RENEWABLE ENERGY CONTRIBUTOR IN THE HEATING SECTOR
a flawed perception of agrobiomass as a difficult fuel to utilise, difficulties in matching supply and demand and lack of clear vision and support from policy makers. There are plenty of successful cases, but they enjoy limited visibility and are rarely known beyond their area of operation. Bioenergy Europe, leading trade association for biomass and bioenergy, is one of the partners of AgroBioHeat, a EU-funded project (Horizon 2020) that aims to overcome, remove barriers such as the ones mentioned above and allow agrobiomass and its technologies to be better placed in the heating market. AgroBioHeat plans to do so by engaging local actors throughout 8 flagship initiatives in the countries covered by the project, by promoting successful cases, but also by providing nationalpolicy recommendations. The policy side, as always, matters the most. In light of the upcoming revision of the Ecodesign Regulation, which requires manufacturers to decrease the energy consumption and emissions of their products by minimum standards, the project partners are planning to suggest emission limits for agrobiomass boilers, based on several test campaigns, including feedback from boiler manufacturers themselves. Discover more online at www.agrobioheat.eu
Rural areas and the agricultural sector play a central role in the energy transition. The synergies between the local use of biomass from agriculture (agrobiomass, in the form of either dedicated energy crops or agricultural residues) are to date largely unexploited; agrobiomass is abundant in rural areas, which would ensure both an adequate fuel supply and short supply chains, enabling favourable conditions for economic and environmental sustainability. Using agrobiomass for energy irradiates benefits to other sectors, for instance it has demonstrated positive social impact by creating jobs at local level, thus revitalising rural areas. What about the technology? Modern heating solutions capable of using alternative fuels such as agrobiomass, with low emissions and high efficiency, are already available on the market. What’s keeping them from reaching more consumers are different factors such as a limited awareness of what are the technologies available,
