Data scarcity, high vulnerability to natural hazards, limited fiscal space, fragile governance mechanisms. These are some of the challenges low and middle-income countries face in preparing for and responding to disasters. In the coming years, disasters caused by climate impacts, geophysical hazards and health emergencies will continue to disproportionately impacts these countries—leading to losses in development gains and regional spillover effects. Cost effective DRM solutions are critical.

“Global Flood Alerting with an Ensemble of Models and Remotely Sensed Observations”
The Global Initiative for Flood Forecasting and Alerting (GIFFT) disseminates flood products from different hydrologic models and sensors to the global community. These products are shared via the Pacific Disaster Center’s (PDC) DisasterAWARE® multi-hazard alerting platform, the NASA Disasters Mapping Portal, and through end-user GIS enabled platforms.

WATER SCARCITY, FOOD INSECURITY. These climate change impacts affect vulnerable populations disproportionately and will increase the need for our services. This session will touch on how the Red Cross is preparing communities in the National conversation on resilience.
