12th Annual Victory Over Stroke 2012 Conference
WELCOME
Welcome to the 12th annual Victory Over Stroke Conference. In recognition of National Stroke Awareness Month in May, the goal of the annual regional conference is to increase awareness about the importance of treating stroke as a medical emergency. The Victory Over Stroke Conference is planned to provide the most current medical information to nursing and other healthcare professionals who treat patients and families in all phases of stroke treatment from emergency department through rehabilitation. The conference has been designed to cover the continuum of stroke care (ischemic and hemorraghic stroke management, rehabilitation and the stroke programs at primary and comprehensive stroke centers). The goal is to share the best clinical practices that have been developed to optimize patient outcomes at local stroke centers. Various topics and sessions have been planned to meet the educational needs of nurses and healthcare professionals at various levels of skill. This year, we are pleased to present two full-day conferences in Palo Alto and Burlingame. We want to express our thanks and gratitude to Mills-Peninsula Medical Center for hosting this year’s conference at their beautiful new facility. We specifically thank Dr. Robert Telfer for his support. The annual Victory Over Stroke Conference is made possible through the financial support of the local stroke centers, companies, and businesses. We thank our generous sponsors, donors, guest speakers, and attendees. Many thanks to the members of PSA’s Medical Advisory Council for input and guidance with the program content. Thank you again for attending the 12th Annual Victory Over Stroke Conference. Gary Curtis PSA Board Chair 24
