Town challenged to fill planner, planning director positions
This replica of the Skiles family dog, Harley, took three days for Kendall Skiles, 17, and her father, Robert, of Bronco Lane in Summerfield to create (Kendall’s boyfriend also assisted with the project). Creating artistic snow figures is an annual tradition for the Skiles family; Kendall told us she usually comes up with the ideas – as well as moving much of the snow – and her father does the shaping and carving. Interesting note: Robert, who had to climb up on a tall ladder to finish the top of Harley, is afraid of heights. See more photos of snow creations on page 10.

Town of Summerfield in August 2016 to accept the position of planning director and held that position until last month, when she resigned to accept a job with Rockingham County as planning and inspections director. “I am so grateful to have been able to serve the citizens of Summerfield yet another time,” Spencer was quoted as saying on the Town of Summerfield’s Facebook page. “I love this town and I will still be living here. I look forward to a time when we can realize our shared vision.” The town is advertising for its full-time
