Photos by Chris Burritt/NWO A row of tall Leland cypress trees that have provided a scenic buffer on N.C. 150 in Summerfi eld for many years is scheduled to be cut down next week. Doggett Construction plans to remove the trees Tuesday, Nov. 3, in preparation for the widening of the road for the opening of Revolution Academy, a charter school, in January, according to Chris York, Summerfi eld’s town planner. The installation of a traffi c signal at N.C. 150 and DeBoe Road to handle school traffi c also necessitates the removal of the trees, which stretch more than 300 yards on the southern side of the highway. “It will be a jarring visual once they are removed,” York said in an email last week, adding that the school will be required to install landscaping, including trees and shrubs, to provide a buffer once the road work is done.
