Commercial rezoning request denied

STOKESDALE – The Stokesdale Town Council faced an unprecedented situation at their meeting on We’ve Nov. 13. A public hearing was scheduled for a request to rezone 5.7 acres of an 8.2-acre parcel on the west side of N.C. 68

The plan was to zone one area for a self-storage facility and another area for office/flex use. Several citizens attended the meeting to voice opposition to the rezoning. an annual tradition. This year’s Oak Ridge Community Thanksgiving Service will be held Sunday, Nov. 23 at 6 p.m. at Oak Ridge Military Academy.

“This is an opportunity for the faith community in Oak Ridge to come together for a time of thanksgiving for God’s provision in our community, churches and lives,” says Dr. Roy Carter, pastor at Central Baptist Church and organizer of this year’s Thanksgiving service.

In keeping with the theme of community, the service features music provided by a combined band and choir made up of individuals from all of the participating churches and the academy.
